Sniper Elite: Resistance - The Parallel Journey of Harry Hawker!

The acclaimed Sniper Elite franchise returns to France with a new lead operative, Harry Hawker, who totally sounds like Jason Statham... but its not. It's actually a voice actor by the name of Klemens Koehring. Your goal is to infiltrate occupied France and fight alongside the French Resistance to stop the Nazis developing an insidious new wonder weapon that could change the course of the war (dun dun dunnn). Offering unparalleled sniping mechanics, stealth, and tactical third-person combat, Sniper Elite: Resistance turns the attention of the award-winning series towards a hidden war, far from the front lines, deep within the heart of the country.

 A Parallel Journey: Sniper Elite 5 and Sniper Elite: Resistance 

Both 2023's Sniper Elite 5 and the new Sniper Elite: Resistance... take place during 1944's occupied France, but in different locations. The elite sniper from Sniper Elite 5, Karl Fairburne is part of the covert US Rangers operation to weaken the Atlantikwall fortifications along the coast of Brittany, but he eventually makes contact with the French Resistance. They uncover a secret project called Operation Kraken that they have to take on.

In Sniper Elite: Resistance, the elite sniper, Harry Hawker is part of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) who teams up with the French Resistance as they race against the clock to stop the Nazi's from raising hell with the insidious new Wunderwaffe.

So both of these soldiers are on their mission, but if you're a fan of Sniper Elite games... you've seen Harry Hawker before. The British sniper and recon expert has been deployed in various missions throughout the series, even in multiplayer. So you've seen him in Sniper Elite 3, 4, and 5 overlapping with Karl Fairburne's mission to standing in the spotlight in Sniper Elite: Resistance. Hawker was even referenced in SE5 regarding his involvement in the action. So if you'd played SE5, you should enjoy the different aspects of the shared conflict with an emphasis on the crucial role the covert operations and collaboration with the French Resistance played in undermining the Nazi war machine. It broadens the war effort and the teamwork between Allied forces and the local resistance behind enemy lines. It's also a smart way to utilize and reintroduce familiar faces in the Sniper Elite universe.

Players will notice familiar elements from the previous installment, such as realistic ballistics and strategic opportunities in gameplay, which are seamlessly integrated into this new storyline.

Tech This Out: The Steam Brick - A Glimpse into the Future of Portable VR Gaming for Valve?

The Steam Brick doesn't look like much on the surface, but when I saw that the creator was able to plug in the Xreal Air 2 Pro AR glasses to his Steam Brick device, which is a modified version of Valve's Steam Deck with no screen, it made my mind wander. Sure, you have to Bluetooth a controller to the Steam Brick, but this essentially makes it possible for Valve to create their own portable VR headset. If they decide to do such a thing as a result of Crastinator's concept, I think they should bring him on board to help bring it to life. Then all you would have to do is connect your standard controller to it or VR controls minus all the cords. It's not set in stone since the glasses would have to be up to par, but this is a great start to something amazing in my opinion.

Justin Diaz from Android Headlines brought mod creator Crastinator's concept to light. The Steam Brick is a smaller, lighter version of the Steam Deck, designed for enhanced portability. By removing the screen and built-in controllers, Crastinator created a device that is about a third of the size of the original Steam Deck and approximately 24% lighter. This makes it much easier to carry around, especially for those who travel frequently.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the Steam Brick is its potential for portable VR gaming. By connecting the Xreal Air 2 Pro AR glasses and a Bluetooth controller, users can enjoy a fully immersive gaming experience without the need for a traditional screen. This opens up the possibility for Valve to develop their own portable VR headset, inspired by Crastinator's innovative concept.

Imagine a future where all you need is a compact device like the Steam Brick, a pair of high-quality AR glasses, and a wireless controller to dive into your favorite games. No more bulky setups or tangled cords—just seamless, immersive gaming on the go. While the technology isn't quite there yet, Crastinator's Steam Brick is a promising step in the right direction.

If Valve decides to pursue this idea, they should definitely consider bringing Crastinator on board to help bring it to life. His ingenuity and creativity have already shown what can be achieved with a bit of imagination and technical know-how. The Steam Brick may not be perfect, but it's a fantastic starting point for something truly groundbreaking.

Why "The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes" Deserves a Remake on Nintendo Switch 2

One game that truly deserves a remaster or, ideally, a complete remake for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is... "The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes"! Before we jump in, here's a blast from the past:

 A Unique and Cooperative Adventure 

Originally released for the Nintendo 3DS, "Tri Force Heroes" brought a novel twist to the Zelda series with its cooperative multiplayer gameplay. Three players team up, each taking on the role of a different-colored Link, to navigate ingenious dungeons and tackle formidable bosses. The iconic Totem mechanic, which allows the heroes to stack on top of one another, added a refreshing + frustratingly funny layer of strategy, enabling players to reach new heights and solve intricate puzzles.

 Collecting and Crafting 

In addition to its engaging gameplay, "Tri Force Heroes" introduced a loot system that allowed players to gather materials and craft unique outfits. Each outfit provided distinct boosts and abilities, enhancing the overall experience and adding a layer of customization that fans adored.

 Potential for New Content 

Given its innovative gameplay and charming visual style reminiscent of "A Link Between Worlds," a remastered or remade version on the Nintendo Switch 2 could offer even more excitement. Imagine periodic content updates, introducing new adventures and downloadable content (DLC) that keep the game fresh and engaging over time.
