Nintendo News: Critically Acclaimed Zelda Adventure Gets Game-Play Enhancements in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Beautiful high-definition graphics aren’t the only things new in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. When this HD remake launches exclusively for the Wii U console on March 4, it will feature many upgrades that are sure to please fans playing through the adventure again, or newcomers who are experiencing the game for the first time.

A new item in the game called the “Ghost Lantern” has been added. This mysterious item will glow when in the same area as a Poe (a kind of ghost), making the Poe soul-retrieving quest much easier to complete. Hero Mode, a challenging new mode, can also be selected when starting a new game. In this mode, Link will take double the normal damage and there are no heart drops. In addition, if Link finds Rupees in a treasure chest while his wallet is already full, Rupees will no longer be returned to that chest. Players are also less likely to reach the limit of their wallets, as they have been modified to hold more Rupees.
Iconic moments from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, like Link riding Epona across the Eldin Bridge and Wolf Link howling at the moon, look stunning in high definition, but additional upgrades to the game make it play better as well. Using the Wii U GamePad controller, players can easily access their map and inventory at all times using the intuitive touch screen, as well as quickly transform into a wolf with one easy tap. Players will also be able to use the GamePad to access Miiverse (Internet access required). Miiverse posts can be decorated with dozens of new Miiverse stamps inspired by the game hidden away throughout Hyrule. Additionally, the game can be played off-TV on the GamePad. Many more updates exist in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, but discovering them as you play through the legendary adventure is part of the fun.
As previously announced, all physical versions of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will include an intricate Wolf Link amiibo figure. Purchasing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD and Wolf Link amiibo bundle will currently be the only way to get this amiibo figure. Using this amiibo will allow players to gain access to the challenging Cave of Shadows. Also, some of the data stored on the Wolf Link amiibo figure can also be used with The Legend of Zelda game for Wii U, which launches this year. More details about this functionality will be revealed in the future. In addition, several amiibo in the Super Smash Bros. series (sold separately), including Link, Zelda, Sheik, Ganondorf and Toon Link, can also be tapped to the GamePad for various in-game effects.

Tom Clancy's The Division can be one of the best games of the year if

Ubisoft's Action RPG experience can be one of the best games of the year if... it doesn't fall flat on what they plan to deliver (it's important that it doesn't). This game looks promising, and hopefully we'll get a chance to review it on SDGT Ent.
This is an open-world game (based in... New York), so chances are there will be people exploring every possible nook and cranny available just to see where they can go. Hopefully there are adequate areas to access so that there aren't just a bunch of buildings with little or no access (it wouldn't be incredibly easy, but updates can keep it growing where needed... especially for PVP action). One thing that Ubisoft executes well... are the number of NPC's in a game, and hopefully they deliver adequately in this game also, but i'm curious to see the way NPC's ultimately behave in this crippling society.

I picture a tug of war between progression and regression based on Ubisoft's product info that reads "The choices you make will help forge a recovery or plunge the city deeper into chaos.", and that sounds great... but I also want to truly see and experience that. If updates are needed to pull off the type of progress that shows the growth/improvements... I think its worth it. I want to see NPC's affected by that... basically getting back to life as order is restored. If it regresses towards chaos, the behaviors can definitely shift. I don't see specific things happening like abandoned stores reopening (beyond cut-scenes) in some capacity, but you never know... if something like that isn't in the release of the game, perhaps via an update.

These are things that add to the overall immersive experience. I see the customization combinations definitely adding to the pluses so that people are able to connect a bit more with their digital self... which would definitely be thumbed up by a really good character customization system (love that about Mass Effect).

Tom Clancy's The Division: Agent Origins - Should Ubisoft pull a... Marvel with shows and movies?

We will be posting Tom Clancy's The Division: Agent Origins some time... early (early) Friday (EST)!

After taking a look at them, ask yourself if the live action video shorts... should've been more like a full film or a season long project, because Ubisoft has some pretty interesting games that could prove to be translated to film.

Doesn't have to mirror the games exactly... that wouldn't work in my opinion, but that leaves room for other things that can fill gaps or showcase untold stories (Capcom's Resident Evil animated films... work well).

Here are some images from the origins series:

Could you imagine the type of results a personal trainer could get out of someone if they used a blow torch to get them to run? Lawsuits would be another story. #FeelTheBurn

OFFICIAL MADDEN NFL 16 SUPER BOWL PREDICTION CROWNS CAROLINA PANTHERS AS NFL CHAMPS

Starting Today Fans Can Make Their Own Madden NFL Super Bowl Predictions

REDWOOD CITY, Calif -- February 1, 2016 – Today Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA), officially unveiled the Madden NFL 16 Super Bowl prediction, which has tabbed the Carolina Panthers as the next world champions, defeating the Denver Broncos 24 – 20. For the first time ever, fans can get in on the action for themselves by heading over to the Madden NFL 16 Super Bowl Prediction Hub and create their own outcome based on a variety of factors. Fans can then share their dream Super Bowl 50 outcome with the hashtag #MyMaddenPrediction.

Carolina set the tone early in Super Bowl 50, jumping out to a 10 – 0 lead on the strength of a huge kick return by Ted Ginn Jr., which Cam Newton finished off with a touchdown pass to Greg Olsen. The Panthers added a field goal to close the quarter, and then scored again in the 2nd on a Jonathan Stewart rushing touchdown.

Facing a 17-point deficit at halftime, Peyton Manning decided he wasn’t going to let his Super Bowl legacy be defined by two blowout losses and rallied the Denver offense. The consummate play maker, Manning began dissecting the Carolina defense, capping off a 3rd quarter drive with a touchdown toss to Emanuel Sanders. Denver’s defense also responded, with Aqib Talib picking off Cam Newton and setting up a Broncos field goal. Denver continued their scoring explosion, adding another filed goal and pulling to within 17 – 13.

Denver kept the momentum rolling in the 4th, with Manning finding Demaryius Thomas for another touchdown, putting Denver up 20 – 17. Cam Newton wasn’t done writing his own Super Bowl legend though, putting the team on his back and scoring a game-winning touchdown with a determined goal line scramble. After a wild and emotional game the Panthers stood victorious, claiming Super Bowl 50 by a score of 24 – 20.

After a thrilling contest, Cam Newton claimed the Super Bowl MVP Award, completing 19 of 26 passes for 216 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Jonathan Stewart added a touchdown of his own on 47 rushing yards, with Greg Olsen tallying 79 receiving yards and catching Newton’s only TD pass. On the defensive side, Josh Norman led the Panthers with 6 tackles and one interception.

Across the field, Peyton Manning completed 21 of 37 passes for Denver, tallying 241 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Demaryius Thomas was Manning’s favorite target, hauling in six receptions for 98 yards, and one touchdown. Emanuel Sanders claimed Denver’s other touchdown, alongside 65 yards on five catches. Aqib Talib provided the biggest impact for Denver’s defense, with five tackles and one interception.

The Madden NFL Super Bowl prediction is one of the most accurate and widely-celebrated in the world, correctly calling nine of the last twelve championships. Last year’s prediction not only correctly forecast the final score, but also accurately called that Tom Brady would win the Super Bowl MVP award, that New England would overcome a 10-point 3rd quarter deficit and that Julian Edelman would score the deciding touchdown. The prediction also called for Edelman to finish the game with eight catches for 106 yards, he actually ended up with nine catches for 109.

EA Access* members can get even more football action starting tomorrow, when Madden NFL 16 enters The Vault, a growing collection of great EA games like Battlefield 4™, Dragon Age™: Inquisition and EA SPORTS™ FIFA 15 that members can play as much as they want. Players will have access to the full game, and can enjoy popular features like the new playmaker controls for receivers, defenders and quarterbacks, as well as a whole new way to play Madden NFL with Draft Champions**. EA Access members also receive a 10% discount on all EA digital purchases on Xbox One, including Madden Ultimate Team points, pre-orders, and full games.

SDGT Ent's 1st Award of Awesomeness goes to... Hideo Kojima!

We wanted to create an award for people in the industry we think are... awesome (for what they do). So... we thought a fantastic person to start off with, is... Hideo Kojima!

Why? Do you really have to ask why? The man not only is awesome in his hats as game director, screenwriter and producer... but he wears his game designer hat well too. From Zone of the Enders series... to Castlevania... to his more recent and last installment in the Metal Gear series, the dude has kicked some serious digital butt. The memories are great, but the best years are still ahead of him (and his talented team).

From the Sapien storms the Luden's grow, so here's to you Hideo Kojima, congratulations!

Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Power Drift and Puyo Puyo 2... are easily the top games
in this collection for me. What about you? Sound off in the comments below.

Relive Nine O.G. Sega Games with the SEGA 3D Classics Collection
Yo wassup dawg?! Remember loading up your SEGA Master System or Genesis with the raddest cartridge back in the day and playing for hours? Well, you may not be a kid anymore, but we've got the illest cure for your feelings of nostalgia, because the SEGA 3D Classics Collection will be released physically and digitally in the Americas! Sega will be hooking playas up with nine old school games -- that have been powered up with fresh new visuals and content by the fly M2 posse -- for the Nintendo 3DS system on April 26. (Alright, that's enough 90s corporate video game store training video, we apologize for subjecting you to it.)

The SEGA 3D Classics Collection, available on the Nintendo eShop and in retail stores contains nine classic SEGA games originally released on SEGA's Master System and Genesis consoles:
  • Power Drift - A high octane sprite-based circuit racer.
  • Puyo Puyo 2 - A head-to-head competitive puzzle game.
  • Maze Walker - A 3D mystery adventure.
  • Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa - A classic psychedelic scrolling shooter.
  • Fantasy Zone II W - Fantasy Zone II W is basically an updated version of the game above.
  • Sonic The Hedgehog - Control the iconic character in the classic fast-paced platformer.
  • Thunder Blade - Helicopters, guns, missiles and explosions. What more do you need?
  • Galaxy Force II - Save the galaxy in this space themed3D shoot 'em up.
  • Altered Beast - A beat 'em up set in ancient Greece.
You may have noticed that some of the games in the collection are already available à la carte only on the Nintendo eShop, and wonder why you need the SEGA 3D Classics Collection. Well, in addition to getting a physical release, the collection includes four games that haven't been released on the 3DS before (two of which never made it out of Japan!), and the total for the nine games clocks in at just $29.99/CA$44.99. So take a chill pill, quit trippin' yo, and check out these fly screenshots! (Sorry, we said we'd stop, and we didn't. Apologies again.)

The never-before-released-outside-of-Japan Power Drift will satisfy your need for speed.

The other never-before-released-outside-of-Japan Puyo Puyo 2 will test friendships.
Take a psychedelic trip, man, in Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa.
Whatever you do, don't panic in Maze Walker.
Unleash your beast mode in Altered Beast.
Guess who has to save the Space Federation in Galaxy Force II.

Don't Drift Aimlessly - POWER DRIFT with Purpose in the SEGA 3D Classics Collection
Nine Sega Classics (some unreleased!) Arriving on April 26for Nintendo 3DS
IRVINE, Calif. - Jan. 21, 2016 - The best thing about classics is that they never go out of style, which is why SEGA of America is bringing nine classic SEGA games to the Nintendo 3DS™ system as part of the SEGA 3D Classics Collection. The best part - four of the nine classics are games that have never been released on the 3DS previously. For all of the included classics, developer M2 painstakingly recreated the experiences by breaking down the original games and powering them up with new visuals, game modes, and more to take full advantage of the Nintendo 3DS system. The SEGA 3D Classics Collection will be available in stores and digitally exclusively in the Americas for $29.99/CA$44.99 on April 26, 2016.
Because it's a collection, the most prudent thing to do would be to list the games included, starting with the titles never-before-released outside of Japan first:
  • Power Drift - This sprite-based circuit racer puts you head to head against other AI racers in a twisting, turning, jumping, looping race to the finish.
  • Puyo Puyo 2 - This head-to-head competitive puzzle game is simple to learn, hard to master, and compellingly addictive. Compete against the AI or friends in local multiplayer. Note: because of the quirks of trying to localize a game hard-coded in Japanese, the game has been left entirely in its original language. English instructions are available in the included digital manual.
Next, we have a pair of rarities not released on the 3DS before - true collectibles for the Master System enthusiast:
  • Maze Walker - Originally designed for the SegaScope 3-D glasses on the Sega Master System, Maze Walker comes to life on the 3DS, faithfully reproducing the sense of depth as players try to escape the mysterious, twisting maze filled with unknown dangers. Originally released as Maze Hunter for the Master System in the West.
  • Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa - The sentient space ship Opa-Opa is back to defend its bases from evil (but cute!) invaders in the classic scrolling shooter. For SEGA history buffs, this version ofFantasy Zone II is the original Master System version.
And for the previously released titles:
  • Fantasy Zone II W -Fantasy Zone II W, which was originally created for the Master System, is the version of Fantasy Zone II upgraded to the graphical capabilities of the System- 16 arcade board with added 3D effects. You can enjoy it in 2 game modes with different rules.
  • Sonic The Hedgehog - The evil scientist, Dr. Eggman (aka Dr. Robotnik), has snatched the animals of South Island, turning them into robot slaves. Only the famed blue blur can defeat Dr. Eggman and rescue the animals from his vile clutches in the game that started it all for the fastest hedgehog - Sonic!
  • Thunder Blade - In Thunder Blade, players control a helicopter and use guns and missiles to destroy enemy vehicles while flying between buildings, through caves, and into enemy bases. The re-mastered version boasts stereoscopic 3D visuals and adds a host of new features.
  • Galaxy Force II - As the star pilot of the Space Federation, it's up to you to strap yourself into your TRY-X fighter and turn the tables on the invade forces of Halcyon and the Fourth Empire in this 3D shoot 'em up.  This remastered version has upgraded graphics with double the resolution of the original for a more pleasing aesthetic.
  • Altered Beast - Summoned from the dead by Zeus, players in Altered Beast must shape shift into various beasts and fight off hordes of demons to rescue the captured Athena from the clutches of Neff. Offers local co-op multiplayer.
