Datadyne and Deck13 have announced a March 2027 release window for Forge of the Fae, their Celtic-inspired RPG. Players can get an early taste of its world now through a free demo on Steam.

Fiora’s Search for Answers

Inspired by 19th-century Ireland, the adventure follows Fiora as she investigates a series of mysterious disappearances. Its setting brings together folklore and an era of industrial change, providing the backdrop for a journey into the forces shaping her world.

Build Your Approach to Battle

The RPG’s combat includes ARC Crystals and an Adrenaline system, giving players mechanics to consider as they shape their approach to encounters. The available demo offers a chance to experience the game ahead of its full release.

Platforms and Demo

The announced platform lineup includes PC via Steam and GOG, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The release window is March 2027, with an exact day still to come.

Lair of the Leviathan Reveals an Old-School Turn-Based RPG for PC and Consoles

Deck13 has revealed Lair of the Leviathan, an old-school RPG from NostalgicRealms and Whiskybarrel. The announcement targets a 2027 release on PC and consoles, introducing a handcrafted world built around party-based adventure and turn-based combat.

Inspired by Classic Role-Playing Adventures

The project draws inspiration from Ultima, Pools of Radiance and the early Baldur’s Gate games. Its approach places a party of adventurers at the center of exploration and tactical encounters, with a handcrafted setting to discover along the way.

A Collaboration Between Independent Creators

Lair of the Leviathan brings together the solo developers behind NostalgicRealms and Whiskybarrel, with Deck13 publishing. It was revealed alongside Drova II: Torn Lands, and its announcement features artwork by Matt Stawicki.

What Comes Next

The announcement identifies PC and consoles as the planned destinations and 2027 as the release target. Specific console platforms and a firm release date have not yet been announced.

CRITICAL REFLEX is bringing its CRITICAL REFLEX TIME showcase back on October 20, 2026. The publisher’s presentation will feature more than a dozen games, with new announcements, trailers and demos lined up for viewers looking for their next indie discovery.

When to Tune In

The showcase begins Tuesday, October 20 at 10:30 a.m. PT / 1:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. BST, following the ID@Xbox presentation. Expect a mix of new reveals and updates on games already in the publisher’s lineup.

A Range of Strange New Worlds

Among the featured titles is Pipes.exe, a cooperative horror game that puts up to four players in the role of QA testers. Tiny Chills takes an unusual approach of its own, blending ear cleaning with a mystery to uncover.

The lineup also includes Being and Becoming, a Metroidvania adventure, and Drowned Lake, which draws on found-footage horror. These titles represent only part of the planned presentation, with further announcements waiting for the show.

Where Winds Meet Opens Qingzhou with a New Sect, Ribbon Drum Weapon and World Bosses

NetEase Games and Everstone Studio have announced that Where Winds Meet expands eastward with Qingzhou on October 15, 2026. The open-world Wuxia action RPG’s first Theme Region brings mountain paths and coastal landscapes together with a new sect, an unconventional support weapon, and encounters in which wisdom can matter as much as martial strength.

Mountains, Coastline and a Second Destination

The journey begins at Eastern Peak, with pine-covered mountain trails leading toward the broad mudflats where the Yellow River meets the ocean. The region draws on Confucian thought and emphasizes welcoming communities, with locals who can guide travelers and join a fight when danger appears.

Qingzhou’s rollout continues on October 29, when the mist-covered island of Penglai opens with seafront academies and additional stories across the sea.

The Inkbound Order Turns Words into Weapons

The new Inkbound Order sect values debate, art and music as ways of resolving conflict. Its A Duel of Wits activity is a card-based PvP debate arena where proverbs and verbal tactics attack an opponent’s composure instead of their health bar.

Players can retain their current sect while learning as guest scholars. Academy activities also include timed Assistant Invigilator challenges to catch cheating students, alongside Farm Recess events.

A New Rhythm in Combat

The Ribbon Drum blends martial arts with theatrical movement and court dance. Ribbons can strike and bind enemies, applying Knockback and Silence, while drumbeats provide combat buffs to teammates.

Three Regional World Bosses

• Tidewatcher: A bamboo-stilt fighter using operatic music and flower-spear techniques.
• Old Raftsman: A river traveler whose resilient staff style draws on guiding timber rafts.
• Zhu Yinghan: The Dragonfall Camp leader, bringing high-speed shuttlecock skills into battle.

Focus Entertainment and New World Interactive have released Update 1.22: Operation: Echoes for Insurgency: Sandstorm. Available from October 14, 2026 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox, the update closes out Year 4 with two free submachine guns, visual improvements to familiar maps, new character customization options and premium cosmetic sets.

All players receive access to the UM45 for Security and the MP40 for Insurgents. These weapons are part of the free update; the cosmetic DLC is a separate offering.

Launched on October 8, 2026, the game combines roguelike deckbuilding with tower defense, challenging players to survive relentless enemy waves by building increasingly powerful decks and discovering new combinations.

The Sal’koth are back, and the universe is their target. Guided by Kaya, a new generation of tactical heroes must grow stronger, master new powers and fight through increasingly dangerous encounters. Complete quests, uncover the truth and stop the Sal’koth before they plunge the universe into darkness.

Players use their collected cards to build and upgrade defenses, attack enemies, manipulate the battlefield and create powerful combinations.
