LOS ANGELES (Nov. 4, 2016) – Guardian Codex™ is a new roleplaying game from SQUARE ENIX® that launched today as a free-to-play title for iOS and Android devices. The title features high-end 3D graphics and exciting multiplayer battle options, supporting up to four players. Additionally, a rich, single-player story allows players to fully explore the world of Guardian Codex.
Created by the team behind the popular card battler GUARDIAN CROSS®, Guardian Codex takes place in a war-torn world split between the Empire and Resistance forces Taking on the role of Resistance Agents, players are sent into the virtual “Codex” where they must find and capture the legendary Guardians. These fully-customizable teams of Guardians will be necessary to battle the waves of enemies within the Codex, and are also used in multiplayer mode when joining forces with up to three other players to take down even stronger foes. With over 300,000 pre-registrations prior to launch, Square Enix is offering all who download the game a 4-Star Banshee Guardian, 6,000 Codex Credits, and five Magic Stones (III). Naturally mobile is going to ultimately have more options and the biggest gaming audience. Even kids have smart phones.

Whoa, what?! Not everyone has a cellphone. The biggest games are going to always be on pc/console.



I didn't say the biggest games. I said the biggest "Audience". Furthermore, not everyone has a PC or a game console. Mobile phone usage greatly exceeds PC and game consoles.


Which isn't the end of the world if you think about it. The more money developers can make... the more assets they have for the bigger games because they'd have more of a leg to stand on (financially). As time increases we see mobile getting stronger and stronger... which results in more and more visually impressive games (graphics wise). Remember the old (but faithful) phones of yesterday?

Yeah yeah. I remember the old bricks. They had to decrease the resolution for games like Zuma.



Now think of the mobile progression and where it will be as technologies continue to advance.

I don't want to say goodbye to pc/console.


You don't have to, Luis. You just get emerging technologies like the Nintendo Switch and console quality gaming away from the PC and console. Is that a bad thing?

I get it. More options! I think I know the next game we should do a giveaway for.



Imagine a day when you can take your phone and pick up where you left off on console. That would be sick... and Nintendo is doing that in a sense, but just think of where the tech will go and if gamer's push to keep more stationary platforms in the picture. There should be something like that (I think), especially if Nintendo... next move gets followed up on by the competition. I'd see Sony going into that before Microsoft... but who knows. More options is a beautiful thing, but I feel you, I want to be able to still pick up a controller and just game.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In a presentation to financial 
analysts today in Tokyo, Nintendo Co., Ltd. president Tatsumi Kimishima
announced that major details regarding the company’s new Nintendo 
Switch home gaming system will be shared at the Nintendo Switch
Presentation 2017. 

This will be an event for invited media, financial analysts and trade
partners in Tokyo that will be globally livestreamed on Jan. 12, U.S. time.
The presentation will include the launch date and pricing for Nintendo
Switch, as well as a look at the lineup of games currently in development.



Kimishima also announced that Nintendo Switch sampling events for 
invited media, partners, and consumers will take place in the U.S. and
Europe after the presentation at later dates. There will be opportunities
for the public to participate in other hands-on events around the same
time, details of which will be announced later.


The exact time of the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 will be
announced through Nintendo’s social media channels in the coming weeks.

Okay... so Nintendo, is going against what would've been the wiser route in our opinion (speaking on behalf of 
SDGT Ent) by not doing this presentation in 2016. We are not going to argue with them because we aren't making
a dime off of the console... but when it comes to money, there are many gamer's who need to save up. If you don't
have to... here is an imaginary parade in your honor..... (insert imaginary parade here). Cool, I hope you've enjoyed
that, now back to the point:
Granted you can begin saving up now (and saving up in general because its a wise thing to do for rainy days) but
specifics help to know what needs to be saved for what. In this case, knowing the price of the Nintendo Switch could
mean the difference between a pre-order and buying it down the line because the price caught you off guard (some
kids do work around their neighborhood that they may want to increase to meet that price and teens may want to
work the max hours they can as minors). I'd say... save up $500 or so, just to cover the range... and if it requires you
to save anymore... its best to wait until it decreases in price from that "Oh hell naw" category.
Another reason why the price should be known soon, is because... the Holidays are here... staring us face to face like
what's up?!!!!! and... some gamer's are also parents (yes... it happens). There may be a budget for the holidays and
instead of a kid or that adult enjoying something a little less pricey temporarily in order to save the lion's share of
their gifts total worth for something like a... Nintendo Switch, they may just go with something else. I say that to say,
the Nintendo Switch might end up being a December 2017 gift for some based on something that shouldn't be
dropped so close to the launch window. Nintendo is playing with fire.

Nintendo Switch?! Yep... that's the name! Check it out!


Many gamers have known that it was going to be a portable console that would also double as a home console... but what got my attention was the ability to enjoy multiplayer action with half of the connectable Joy-Con controller for multiplayer action. 

I don't know exactly how comfy that will be, but it looks interesting. I'm still not completely sure if there would be online action available when you're on the go... but I really hope so. The 3DS can connect to the internet and it would just be a step backward if we can't. 

The ability to connect multiple controls may sell someone that has multiple family/friends around to get in on the action... but for those of us that don't want to crowd around the small screen (at least not that often), it's important to have an online ready option when portable. 

At home it's a bit more of a... duh... but yeah, I hope they don't sleep on the obvious because it will open one of the biggest doors that can take this system to the next level (besides great games). I really do hope that bigger 3rd party developers stick with it. I don't give a damn about trying to roll with a fad, some games will have that option... like if Lara Croft & The Temple of Osiris were on the system (but no to the no to the hell no when it comes to flood of fad games). I want to appreciate the system in various ways and I hope that it's successful in it's own way because it will be that portable option that not only gives us a way to play potentially awesome 3rd party games on the go... we will have Nintendo's line up. I'm excited to see where this goes, and I expect to see a list of games soon among other info like the price because March is around the corner. We will see what Nintendo has to say, but I think it would be an extremely horrible (i'm talking horrible) idea to wait until 2017 to show more. I expect a Nintendo Direct to lay things out before next year so that people can prepare to $ave.

I think Nintendo took what was going to be multi-Wii U gamepad capability and just rolled that concept into new tech that didn't require them to go back and figure it out with something that would've been a struggle to pull off. I believe that the connectivity between N-Switch devices in portable mode is one of the smartest moves when someone wants to play multiplayer games on the go... like (hmmm) Monster Hunter or even (a new) Xenoblade game, but I can't sleep on Mario Kart or Splatoon either. The question that comes up with that is... "Nintendo, how long is the battery life?". Running to an outlet in an hours time... would suck (like super seriously!).

(I have another ponder) You know how the N-Switch base station? The thing that makes it go... home console? Yeah. Anyway, if that is some sort of device that enhances the graphics while on the big screen... I could see that being upgradable down the road. The portable part of it can remain the same, if they are able to work it out that way... which can prolong the system technically by upgrading a portion of it, versus the full console like the PS4 & Xbox One. The console will be here in the blink of an eye. Wait a minute, I just blinked. NVM! :p

The... Nintendo Duo? Hmmmm



Nintendo going the handheld route that also doubles as the home console route... is something I think is a very smart move (if this is the route that's truly taken). Look at what their handhelds do (and 3rd party is usually more open to it based on past experience)... and since they likely do not want to leave the home console market behind, it gives you the option to be versatile. If you think about it, the Wii U may have been the prototype. Combine that with the success of their handhelds and... they may see it as a sure win all in one package that allows for their products to sell in the changing climate. Although I must say that the changing climate in gaming more so just changes for the audience usually to present popular genre's for the most part... with room for those nifty innovative indie games.

The Nintendo Nx... rumored to be called the Nintendo DUO, should have a count down clock from Nintendo to ready gamer's up on the reveal. Let's see how this goes, and if its going to be in the form of a Nintendo Direct, they should go as hard as hard can be because... its time. The kid stuff can be the kid stuff, but I want to see the gloves come off with something like a new Metroid game... that's just amazing and has multiplayer action that rivals other known FPS games (with its own touch to round out the cool).

Could you imagine Metroid being remade and given the depth Tomb Raider was given? Sick, would not be the word. Nintendo tried to bring variety with the Wii U, but... you know what the deal was, but with the likelihood of more 3rd parties coming to the party this time around... lets see if there is room to chug on awesome. Concerns of power may still be present, but if the home station is some sort of graphic enhancement... as long as it gives games the proper justice to enjoy them on the big screen... its all good.


Bluetooth would be a plus for headsets.
A universal chat option would be a major duh (to hell with just leaving it up to the developers if they want it). I have a dusty Wii Speak peripheral that I've never used.
I can't say what the controller set up is just yet (because we don't know, but if its something that allows me to game... without gimmicks, i'll be happy). Depending on the price point, the functionality better be there... but I think overall the N-Duo will gain steam based on the handheld option alone.
Bring exclusives and 3rd party, Nintendo. Let gamer's have the option of voting with pre-order dollars as to what games should come to the US... and then that game can simply be added to their library. You can have select games that are already geared to go with localization or... JUST BYPASS the region lock crap (at least for the game that have different language packs available in the game for respective regions). Let that set in, but in the mean time... game on!

These are purrrttyyy... and as long as the games are there to enjoy them. Bring them on!
I love to see new consoles and I love it even more when they are accompanied by new games to be enjoyed on them. A healthy library of existing titles doesn't hurt either... but having something new is super fantastic in my opinion. Bundle releases are the smartest way to go when it comes to the release of a newer version of an existing console... but I look forward to the day that new consoles come with a title bundled with them also. One that really shows what the system can do and sets the pace for others (a stable game that doesn't require patches and all that stuff).

Hungry for more MOBA action?!


We didn't get the chance towards the end of last month to give props to Stunlock Studios... for topping the Steam Global Top Sellers chart's with Battlerite, but that gets a thumbs up. I have to follow up with a second thumbs up based on the studio providing us with a copy of the game to check out.

I don't know how much VR will really change or immerse the level of gameplay depth in a MOBA, but... I wouldn't underestimate or hate on such an option for owners of the hardware. Game on!
