Barbie Project Friendship: A Heartwarming Adventure for All Ages

Barbie Project Friendship | $39.99 | PC | Console

Barbie Project Friendship is a well-rounded game that offers players the chance to dive into the world of Barbie, featuring the beloved duo Malibu Barbie and Brooklyn Barbie. With its engaging mini-games and quicktime events, the game provides a cohesive adventure centered around fixing up the Malibu Waves community center.

A Touching and Inspiring Story

Outright Games' Managing Director, Stephanie Malham, expressed her excitement about developing this title with her team. She said, "With a touching and inspiring story, amazing support from the television series cast, and a strong focus on accessibility for younger players, Barbie Project Friendship offers something for fans of all ages. Fans can now dive into this heartwarming adventure, with gameplay that is welcoming and accessible to everyone."

Immersive Voiceovers

The inclusion of actual voice actors from the show, makes the adventure even better. It immerses fans into their world, allowing them to read along or just listen if they prefer without the Barbie's sounding like bootleg copies of themselves. This makes the game more enjoyable. The creators of Zag Heroez Miraculous games could certainly take notes.

What better way to compare the voiceovers in the game than presenting an episode of the show?

Familiar Faces and Objectives

Barbie Project Friendship feels like an episode pulled right out of the show, featuring familiar faces and cohesive objectives that allow players to see their progress slowly but surely. With the support of Ann Austen, producer and developer of multiple Barbie animated shows like Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures and specials, the game stays true to what fans know and love about the newer Barbie TV shows.

Available Platforms

Barbie Project Friendship is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch for $39.99. Whether you're a longtime fan of the series or new to the world of Barbie, this game offers a delightful and accessible experience for everyone. I think girls ages 7+ will enjoy this game the most. Dive into the adventure and help fix up the Malibu Waves community center while enjoying the heartwarming story and engaging gameplay.

Starnaut: The Quirky Rogue-like Space Adventure - New Updates

Starnaut, the unique rogue-like indie game, is still in early access, but the updates are coming in steadily. The latest update was released less than a month ago, showcasing the team’s dedication to continuous development and improvement.

In this article, we’re presenting recent gameplay from September 2024 along with gameplay from February 2024 to showcase the game’s dev progress. The latest update addressed several bugs, and the development team is actively seeking feedback from supporters for potential new features as well. I've always respected that to the degree that solid updates and useful features are implmented. One notable addition is the beginning stage animation when your choice mask appears on your character, in addition to “Lost Data Copiasu".

Instead of just talking about the game, let’s dive into the latest gameplay since the update:

While the final release is still uncertain, Starnaut offers plenty of fun and replay value for just $7.99. If you like what you see, consider adding it to your collection. There’s also a prequel titled “Starnaut - Prologue Copiasu” available for $1.99. Personally, I believe this should be a reward for early supporters, but I digress. Other things I've noticed is the appearance of the... "Wonderful" character in the stage, who gets uncovered when you smash up bundles of scrap, the world is more fleshed out and I haven't come across any bugs.

Anyway, let's get into the initial gameplay (from February 2024):

Overall, I’m impressed with what I’ve seen so far, and I can tell there is more structure for sure. The team at Crim Co. has done a fantastic job, and fans of El Shaddai will be happy to know that you get cross over action in Starnaut. I haven’t had the chance to try out the new character yet, but I’m excited to continue exploring this spaced-out fantasy action game. I don't believe the El Shaddai character is the one that's imprisoned, but I will find out when I find him. If anything comes to mind that can improve the experience, I will certainly run it by the team. Now that I think about it, I think this would be a great experience on Switch!

Shoot for the stars and game on! (Takes off on a used rocket held together by indestructible duct tape.)

FTS: Seafaring Story Adventure “WILL: Follow The Light” Revealed at Future Games Show (PC, PS5, XSX)

WILL: Follow The Light – New Unreal Engine 5 Narrative Adventure Sets Sail at Gamescom 2024

Set sail on stormy seas and explore the rugged Nordic coast in an original narrative adventure from TomorrowHead Studio, coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2025

SPOKANE, Wash. – Aug. 21, 2024 – International independent game developer TomorrowHead Studio has revealed the first trailer for its debut game, WILL: Follow The Light, during the Future Games Show. This realistic, single-player, first-person journey through the harsh northern latitudes is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2025.

About TomorrowHead Studio

Headquartered in Spokane, Washington, TomorrowHead Studio is a new international game development company inspired by the wanderlust of travel and exploration. Their mission is to send players on journeys of discovery, exploring places and worlds they’ve never been to before.

Game Overview

WILL: Follow The Light is a narrative adventure that takes players on a journey across stormy seas and rugged Nordic shores. Players will helm a sailing yacht, piloted with realistic controls developed in collaboration with arctic voyagers, navigating the cold and hostile environments of far-northern seas.

Story and Gameplay

Players assume the role of Will, a fearless man who grew up on the sea, as he ventures north in search of his missing son. The story explores the relationship between father and son, taking players on an emotional rollercoaster through wild thunderstorms, the ringing silence of loneliness, and a tale about the importance of caring for loved ones.

Challenges and Features

Players will face challenges both at sea and on land. As they progress, they will solve puzzles rooted in real life, chart their path using an authentic weather station and lifelike navigation system, and traverse snowy trails by dog sled in search of answers.

Developer Insights

“We have been working together on WILL for more than two years, so today’s announcement is an exciting moment for our team,” said Roman Novikov, Founder and Game Director at TomorrowHead Studio. “At TomorrowHead, we are inspired by some of the best games in the genre and what they do so well – Firewatch’s feeling of escape and loneliness… Alan Wake’s visuals and atmosphere – and we have invested deeply in art and technology to bring players a narrative adventure that will see players exploring the world in a whole new way. We’re looking forward to revealing more later this year.”

Initial Impressions

My initial thoughts on this game are that it’s a visually stunning headscratcher. It feels like it could be horror-based, but it’s not. I was expecting something to jump out at the protagonist, but it never happened. Instead, the goal is to reunite with your family, taking on the elements rather than arming yourself. This approach opens the door to players who enjoy great-looking games without combat, similar to fans of Myst.

While I would have loved to see some beasts to beware of, I understand the direction. As long as you know you’re preparing for a story-rich adventure puzzle game, your expectations will be realistic. Overall, it looks like an interesting game and I think it will be a cool experience. Game on!
