AJAZZ AJ159P Dual Mode Game Mouse... Reviewed!

The AJAZZ AJ159P Mouse is a nice choice for those seeking a lightweight, dual mouse. Weighing in at just 56 grams, this mouse is perfect for users who need to move seamlessly around larger desks or from... table to table (like I do), whether working on a larger screen, projector or otherwise. It's just makes sense to have a wireless mouse. By the way, I tried the mouse out on a work table on the other side of my office at about 10 feet away and (duh of the day)... it worked smoothly without lag.

While this mouse is light, don't confuse light with flimsy because that's not the case. The stand is far from being on the lighter side, this thing can knock your teeth out. Anyway, being a dual mode gaming mouse if you want to connect directly to the USB-C cable, you have the ability to adapt.

Speaking of the USB-C cable... this thing is really light. If you didn't see the ends, it would be safe to assume it was a shoe string. No worries about the mouse cord being tangled up when you go wireless, and when you aren't using it... just place it on the magnetic base. I was reminded immediately about one advantage a wireless mouse has when I was swapping out my primary mouse. I ran the usb cable for the other gaming mouse awhile ago and it was still tangled up with camera and light cables (let's just say me and the mouse... had a talk).

Specifications:

  • Weight: 56 grams
  • Dimensions: 118.1mm (L) x 63.1mm (W) x 37.7mm (H)
  • Sensor: PAW3395
  • Max DPI: 26,000
  • Polling Rate: 1,000 Hz
  • Connectivity: 2.4 GHz wireless, USB-C
  • Battery: 400mAh
  • Compatibility: Right-handed, symmetrical design

One of the standout features of the AJ159P is its RGB lighting on the charging stand, which adds a vibrant touch to your workspace. The wireless dongle can be conveniently placed in the USB port of the charging stand, ensuring a clutter-free setup.

In terms of design, the AJ159P looks clean and feels comfortable in hand. However, it’s worth noting that the mouse might potentially face damage from a high enough a drop, if it lands the wrong way. Luckily the typical desk isn't too high. Additionally, while the clean look is appealing, a rubberized grip or more texture on the sides would enhance the overall grip and decrease the chance of it slipping out of your hand if you tend to move around a bit. I'm a bit more on the safe side since my main two work stations are pretty much connected.

I definitely see this mouse being a nice choice for those of you with an all white desktop setup. I even brought out a white mechanical keyboard to coordinate... as seen in the gameplay video below:

I found myself appreciating this mouse with increased use... because i'm not stuck on a cord, I can just dock the mouse when it isn't in use so that it can charge (which i haven't had to charge yet). No batteries to worry about, it slides smoothly with the 3 sliders placed nicely on the underbelly where the DPI button + On/Off switch is located. You get 6 different DPI settings that are represented by different color indicators. These come in handy so that you aren't guessing.

Pricewise you can get the AJAZZ AJ159P Mouse for $33.99 in addition to a limited time discount AJAZZ hooked us up with to present to... you.

Overall, the AJAZZ AJ159P is a solid choice for those who value a clean, minimalist design that pairs well with a white gaming/office setup. It offers excellent performance and convenience for gaming and everyday use at a nice price.

Wishmas List 2019

It's that time of year again, it's cold (for some of us)... and with the time change it's darker sooner, so you know it's holiday time! Now that we've cleaned out the left overs from Thanks Given Day, it's time to buckle down and compile our Wishmas List for 2019! This isn't a ranked list.

Philips Momentum Wired Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Although its missing the keyboard shortcuts for certain secondary key functions (i.e. calculator)... the Philips Momentum (SPK8614) is both durable, responsive, and ready for gaming. The dual volume/ambiglow RGB light switch seen below definitely comes in handy to either swap between the 19 preset effects or control your volume. Just hold the the knob down for a few seconds and it will switch modes.

You can between effects... but you're limited to the 19 presets (there is no application to customize the colors). If you want something a bit more customizable... I have another item on the Wishmas List (though it costs a little more). I don't personally need to look down at the keys, but for those new to PC gaming with keyboard and mouse... the directional keys are lit up in pink (i.e. WASD & Up/Down/Right/Left keys).

If that's not your speed, you can play tons of games on PC via a standard 1st party game controller. You'd be surprised how often i'm told that someone can't play on PC because they can't do Keyboard and Mouse. I play on PC primarily with an Xbox controller so... if you didn't know, now you do.

Anyway, playing FPS games with this keyboard has been a sweet experience... along with top down shooters and games like Pacman 256 + Battery Jam.

Overall, I've enjoyed this keyboard while gaming and everything else. It retails for $39.99 which can work for a budget if you're looking for a good keyboard for your new rig that you paid a child's fortune on.

Velocilinx: Artemis Pro Wired Gaming Mouse

I love this mouse! You get the metallic base and siding which make it look even more awesome, but... it doesn't just look good. It's easily the best mice I've ever used, it flows well with and without a mouse pad.

This mouse works great for gaming, and you can switch up the DPI (I was able to stop unwanted scrolling in games like SpellForce 3 by lowering the DPI) + the lighting of the mouse can be customized to your liking via the app (coordination!).

The Velocilinx: Artemis Pro Wired Gaming Mouse fits my hand nicely, the buttons are responsive and it doesn't feel flimsy or like it would crack if it hits the floor... you can use this thing as a paperweight (sooo... i'd probably check the floor first to make sure it's good).

I can't confirm or deny if this is really stuck in the wall, but the metallic part certainly can do that.

I've reviewed the mouse from both the Velocilinx Brennus and Boudica collections, and they're both on the Wishmas List because they're the exact same mouse (just different colors).

The mouse is $52.99, but the quality makes it worthwhile.

Check out the full review and why I gave it a 5 out of 5 cool points:

The Boudica Mechanical Gaming Keyboard makes the list because of its look, feel, and customizable options. Sure you have preset options for this keyboard with the push of one button... but you can also customize via the app to get really specific colors like those you see above (representing SDGT)!

Do you see the color strip just below the keys? That's something that also stood out to me... it gives an extra bit of eye catching cool for those of you using your gaming skills to pay the bills in an arena. Based on your team colors... all you have to do is open up the app and customize to your hearts content.

Oh yeah, if you prefer palm wrests for your keyboards... you're in luck (one's included). You have to screw it on in order to get it to fit the right way, but... that's a plus for those of you who like to game/work with your keyboard in your lap.

This image should give you a better idea of the color of this keyboard... which isn't the typical (same old). You get a silver and white combination, which also go well with the headphones seen in the full review at the link below. One thing they did miss out on is the opportunity to add more secondary buttons for shortcuts, that would've been nice for productivity but... other than that... this is a useful keyboard for both work and play (more so for gaming but its a keyboard so you can make it work). By the way FN + F3 opens the calculator!

This keyboard retails for $109.99, which is pricier than the standard keyboard and some of the others... but I've seen various prices of this keyboard if it truly tickles your fancy.

Puro Sound Labs: PuroGamer Headphones + PuroQuiet Headphones

These headphones are just a pure win. They're a quality build (especially for kids), have deceptively good sound... but they also don't require you to crank them up for an enjoyable listening experience (the quality sound surprised me but my daughter seems to appreciate it them also).

The quality audio allows for her to better identify sounds as she continues to learn about new things.

These make the Wishmas list for 2019 because... sound induced hearing loss is a real thing and as a dad I don't want my little girl affected in a negative way for simply wanting to use some headphones. I'm not ragging on other brands (I love headphones), but the guess work is taken out with these headphones so that kids, adults and the teens in between have audio at safe decibels.

The PuroGamer Headphones are playable on PC, console, and mobile... for those of you seeking gaming headphones for your kids. The PuroQuiet Headphones are playable on whatever pairs with bluetooth. At this time the PuroGamer Headphones are available for $49.99 and the PuroQuiet Headphones are $69.99 which are an absolute steal.

Don't have a cow... but this year we're adding the Nintendo Switch to the Wishmas List, because there are plenty of games available for those looking to game on the go. It has it's exclusives, but it's also a good all around secondary gaming option... especially for those of you who travel all the time. I know professionals that travel more than I'd be willing to... but traveling doesn't have to be boring and some of you are on planes, trains, and automobiles for hours on end.

No need to give up on gaming all together because... you don't have the time to game on a home console or PC. Adapt to the situation and get a Nintendo Switch if your phone doesn't cut it.

You have the option between the standard $299 and the $199.96 lite version. We collectively agree that the $299 version is better for those who want to play all games... including those that require motion controls + you can play on TV, but if you don't give a crap about that... go with the lite.

The lite version gives you the option of gaming in the standard way + you save $100 to basically get a few games for your new purchase. If you want to play Joycon related games... you will have to buy them separately.

Nintendo Switch Bundles are available too... so get the hook up!

External Storage (no specific brand)

One thing we have to add to this year's Wishmas List is external storage. We don't have one brand to recommend over another, but for those of you that game on PC... or just require a lot of storage to do what you need/enjoy, it doesn't hurt to keep files (pics, video, etc) somewhere that doesn't require it to use up PC storage.

NewAir Beverage Refrigerator
A beverage fridge is a bit of a splurge... but it's one for those things that really comes in handy, no running in and out of the office to grab beverages when you have a place to keep them cool. This is something that everyone can appreciate, even if its not a practical buy for everyone. Great for an office, game room, movie room, pool area, bar, etc. I love it and this particular one is the NewAir Beverage Refrigerator, it holds 90 cans (NINETY CANS!). It retails for $192.80... which is on the low end for these types of refrigerators.

There are definitely other options, including standard mini fridges for less... but this has worked well thus far.

The 1More Stylish True Wireless In-Ear Headphones are comfortable, sound great, and are competitively priced. Comfort/Tolerance level and sound quality top the list when it comes to headphones... for me, and these headphones get the job done well.

I've been able to wear these headphones and completely forget that they're in my ears (once the right sized ear tips are on). There are four colors to choose from and they include a cradle so that you can charge on the go.

They retail for $99.99 but you may be able to find them on sale (I've seen some). I've enjoyed music, movies, games + ASMR with these things (I go to sleep with them on at times). I haven't reviewed a lot of wireless headphones, but when it comes to bluetooth headphones in general... these have earned my respect.

By the way... these headphones were tuned by Grammy winning sound engineer, Luca Bignardi.

Velocilinx: Boudica Premium PC Gaming Peripheral Line Up... Reviewed!

Before jumping into this review, I just want to give a shout out to Velocilinx for providing the tech!

I just want to say that this review will be a tad different from the standard reviews because the Velocilinx: Brennus Line Up was... reviewed recently. So what i'll do this time around is give you the breakdown on the differences between each collection (I promise... you'll still be able to take something away from both reviews)... but first, time for an unboxing!

I gave you a little backstory behind the name Brennus, so I'll do the same for the "Boudica" collection. According to Velocilinx, Boudica was a Celtic Queen who solely led a revolt against the Romans with a win or die mentality, she was not going to live or die as a slave. So they utilize the name of the collection to represent leadership, power, and perseverance... which is a perfect fit for gamers that refuse to sit back and take an L from the competition.

Here you have the Velocilinx: Boudica gaming headset. It's just like the Velocilinx: Brennus when it comes to the specs, and build. Both are lightweight, and deliver nice audio. The Boudica gaming headset, just like Brennus version... lack the customizable LED lighting options of the mouse and keyboard (which made me sigh)... but they get the job done.
Even if the specs are the same for both the Boudica & Brennus gaming headsets... I like the color scheme on this gaming headset a lot more. The Brennus version has a been there and done that... over and over and over again color scheme (mainly the black on black), where as the Boudica adds a fresh pop of white in the mix. This isn't a diss, but the Boudica headset catches my eye more... that's all.

You get the same features:

Sound: 7.1 Surround (Virtual)
Frequency: 20Hz-20KHz
RGB backlit: 7 colors
Connector: USB 2.0
Cable length: 2.2m
OS: Windows 7 or newer
Adjustable mic boom
Inline control: Volume, microphone, backlight on/off
Speaker size: 50mm
Speaker impedance: 21
Microphone type: Omnidirectional
Microphone size: 6*5MM
Microphone sensitivity: -42DB+3DB

Having different color options is common, and it doesn't take from one or the other... but Velocilinx should strongly consider different specs the next go round to mix it up. Brennus could've been the entry level with 7.1 Virtual Surround, while the Boudica could have been 7.1 True Surround with customizable colors, a detachable cord, detachable mic, and swivel ear cups for easy travel. If they want to keep the cost down while switching things up for one... they could always make one bluetooth instead of 7.1 True Surround.

Just like the Brennus gaming headset, the Boudica also retails for $69.99... and other than the color there is nothing really jumping out as different to rate these differently than the Brennus.

I just want to say that I love these mice, there are no extra's on that... I just love the way they feel and function.

The Velocilinx Artemis Pro Gaming Mouse from the Boudica collection is just like the one from the Brennus collection... and that's not a bad thing. This version is silver on top of the metallic base and... that's the only difference, the specs are the same for this 5 button 10,000 DPI gaming mouse. It feels good when used on a plain surface or a mouse pad. $52.99 is a steal.

You get the same features:

Six color RGB lighting
High precision optical engine
Chipset: A3325
DPI: 1000-2000-3000-5000-7000-10,000
Frame rate: up to 3600 fps
Programmable buttons: 5
USB interface
Metallic bottom case
1.5M braided fiber cable

I don't know what i'd add to make the Boudica different from the Brennus, possibly bluetooth instead of wired but wired is still better... even if its by a little bit (no potential interference to worry about... or batteries). If the Boudica headphones were to take a turn to bluetooth... it could be fitting to do the same with the mouse and even the keyboard (we could still have the ability to connect them via a detachable USB or something). Not saying its in the cards, but... i'm just thinking of what would deliver some variety to the product offerings.

It's the same mouse... so i'm giving it the same 5 out of 5 rating!

Last but not least... you have the Velocilinx: Boudica Mechanical Gaming Keyboard! The other products may have mirrored eachother, but... the Boudica keyboard is quite different from the Brennus. I saved this for last because you definitely have a different type of keyboard and price.

The Boudica Mechanical Keyboard, is also aimed at gamers... and comes in silver and white.

I don't see a lot of keyboards with this color and it actually matches an old silver and white laptop tucked away in the office storage somewhere. Here is a visual comparison of both keyboards (seen below), the Boudica has a bit more style to it... but I will say that the Brennus gives you a bit more of those "out of the box" features.

Off the bat, you see these silver cap-like circles closer to the upper sides of the keyboard, and an RGB color strip sandwiched between the white base of the keyboard and the keys. Very appealing, and I love the ability to customize the keys to exactly the way you want them (so I had to represent SDGT Entertainment!).

The Boudica keyboard also comes with a palm wrest if its something you desire to attach. This keyboard also includes a Veloci Key programmed to give you access to 8 preset color options, but when you access the app... you get access to 26 lighting effects vs 14 with the Brennus.

The Brennus felt good to use... but the Boudica feels better (especially when I place the keyboard on my lap). I do give the Brennus more credit in the functionality department, even if you can customize the keys on the Boudica. You get all the secondary keys you can want on the Brennus, they're already spelled out via the icons... where as the Boudica does not.

So if you're a serious gamer with a need to get non-gaming related tasks done (and you don't feel like programming keys), the Brennus keyboard may be the way to go... but if you're a fan of fully customizable keyboards... you may want the Boudica. I'm not saying that the Boudica doesn't have hotkeys... but nothing is listed for things like "Stop", "Play", "Calculator", and things of that nature.

I do think that Velocilinx missed out on an opportunity with this keyboard based on the design. Going back to the silver cap-like circles... they could have totally placed a volume knob with a mute button in the center and something useful on the other one. So if there were a volume knob on the right side, there could've been something like an accessible USB port on the other side or something.

Both keyboards get the job done... even though i'd probably walk into a tournament with the Boudica Collection. Speaking of eSports... you don't get the game mode keys preset with the Boudica, but this keyboard is a lot more customizable so you can simply light up the keys you need to use in any colors you desire.

You can't easily switch out the colors of keys in the Brennus keyboard with a variety of customized colors (and believe me... I tried). You can use the same color on the keys using the Brennus, but I ran into a snag when I tried to add additional colors. This is not a problem for the Boudica (as seen below).

The feature that the Boudica has in common with the Brennus are as follows:

Built-in anti-ghosting technology
Outemu Blue mechanical spring keys (e-sports standard)
Flash memory EEPROM
WIN key lockout for gaming

The differences the Boudica has from the Brennus come with a different price tag, but... it's not far off. The Boudica is $109.99 compared to the Brennus which currently retails for $99.99... so compare, contrast and see if either of these mechanical gaming keyboards works for you.

Some of you may scratch your head at the score because of how much you can customize... but those secondary keys go a long way and they just aren't presented straight out of the box.
