BERSERK AND THE BAND OF THE HAWK

This game is based on an anime that some of you may find an interest in. I'm curious where the game will go in terms of the story... because the last anime I saw... the band was down bad... bad bad.

iCaddy... Reviewed!

This one is for the parents looking for a portable cradle solution for their kids (or themselves).

This is the first review for the new format... which will allow for things to be segmented for those of you looking for specific information for a product. Enjoy!

If the iCaddy looks familiar, that's because it was revealed at CES & Toy Fair as they gear up for several major retailers in the USA & Canada.

The iCaddy we received is a bit on the... pretty side, but outside of the Molly Rosner options, they're also going to have licensed options representing Mossy Oak, Marvel, etc. Currently, there are 13 different themes to choose from (including a Skull design... and one with a Hawaii vibe).

Fun fact: This was created by a 7-year-old girl who started with nothing more than cardboard and toilet paper rolls to keep her tablet propped up. Great ideas usually emerged as solutions to problems... so that's cool. Her big brother took it from there and based on her design, the iCaddy was born.

The iCaddy is simple enough to use. It's a cradle that allows for you to position your phone, tablet, and even the Nintendo Switch in position so that they don't require you to prop them against something (or use that Nintendo Switch kickstand). That's a plus because you don't want to hold your device all the type, and this could be used to watch tutorials on cooking... video chats, and whatever else. Yeah you can kick back and watch a movie, but get the most out of it.

When running low on juice, the 2600 mAh Lithium-Ion power bank is just one plug away to get you charged back up. The plug that comes with this device is a micro USB... but that doesn't stop you from connecting a USB type-c. The storage compartment has enough space to place the USB cord along with the headphones... which are also a nice plus because parents don't always want to listen to what they're kids are tuning into (there are parents having nightmares about Baby Shark).

The included earbuds are 20 - 20,000hz, with an impedance of 320hm, and a sensitivity level of 104dB. They aren't the best headphones in the world, but they're included.

The iCaddy feels sturdy enough to take a few minor bumps, but... I'd be wary about dropping this on the floor (especially if it isn't carpeted). It just feels like it would crack... especially in the cradle arm that holds your device. This product is made of Food-Grade ABS Plastic.

The headphones are protected with metal around the sensitive areas, like the jack. I'd suggest Bluetooth headphones if parents want to protect the investment. Not because of the included headphones, but they're corded. I just see some kids jumping up from their chair and the cord tugging... causing the device and the iCaddy to hit the floor.

The iCaddy is totally portable, and you're able to just close it and place it in a bag or your pocket (if you have one big enough). The power bank adds to the portability because you don't have to sit near a plug outlet.

You can place the iCaddy on just about any surface and enjoy yourself. That said... in a future version of this product... I'd suggest grips on the base because this will slide on a tilted surface. Believe me... I tried.

The iCaddy comes in at $24.99 retail, which is... okay. The sweet spot for me would be $20 without the grips on the base. Overall, iCaddy is a pretty cool product. It's a cradle... but it gives one of the pluses of a docking station (via the power bank), portability, and... space to store the included earbuds.

Blast from the Past: Playing Old Games!

I've done a lot more posts as of late, but I've been offline more just playing old school games. Dude, there are so many games in existence, and they aren't just old. Tons of great games being released right now will be added to that group of old games, they'll be just as good in a few years or a few decades.

My freaking granddad was playing Super Mario Bros 3, and its still fun. I don't have all the money in the world, but I don't need it all to afford a blast from the past. I bet SMB3 would get new unit sales if they redid all the art to look like, Paper Mario.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is still going to be badass, but the newness will be gone. I was telling the guys that watching trailers of old games, made me get excited about the old games I never played. Try it out and sike yourself up for the games you saved money on. Bayonetta is still sweet, and some games get those high res texture pack updates.

I tried to find some of the old arcade games I played as a kid, but I don't remember all the names. I guess I've been online at some point doing searches of old arcade games, but some of the games are dead and gone.

A bonus about modern games being downloadable is the ability to have the game stored somewhere so that it isn't just gone. Just dropping straight facts, there are a lot of games released within the last decade that aren't as good when they're initially released. You have to wait for the games to get better with patches, and some of the games aren't even completed when you buy them.

So companies that play that game, don't make buying new any better than buying used. Buying an older game with all the patches and DLC in place for less is just better, to me. Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration is $12 right now.

"This isn't true for all games... because online games don't have the luxury of having an eternal audience. Single player will be the same single player game, in addition to couch co-ops." - Blu

Ring of Elysium Announces Pirate Carnival Event

Get some swashbuckling swagger from now until May 3

Ring of Elysium - Storm the Europa
Aurora Studios has just announced that the latest patch update for next-gen battle royale Ring of Elysium has hit servers and has brought with it an all-new Pirate Carnival event. Having recently released the Season 3 Adventurer Pass, Ring of Elysium has taken the battle to (and under) the high seas with ‘Storm the Europa’. To celebrate the launch of the Season 3 pass players will be able to fight it out over underwater treasure chests which will spawn at random preset locations throughout the match as well as on the high seas aboard the pirate ship and within airdrop loot crates.
Players wanting to channel their inner Davey Jones will be able to earn event currencies by looting limited treasure chests or by boarding the rescue helicopter. Battles will be fierce for treasure chests during the event as each chest’s position will be shown on the map for all players to see. Treasure chests will have the chance to contain any of the special event currencies of gold, pearls or diamonds. Currencies can be exchanged for pirate-themed accessories, vehicle appearances or weapon skins until the event’s conclusion on May 3rd.
Ring of Elysium - Pirate Carnival Accessories
Alongside the Pirate Carnival event, Aurora Studios has also brought updates to Ring of Elysium including a more frequent spawning of the boardable pirate ship which will now spawn during heavy rain, thunderstorms and typhoon weather cycles. Players will be able to board the ship in their pirate garb and shoot it out with Flintlock Pistols. While on the ship players will have the chance to loot treasure chests for a chance at more event currency or new tactical loot such as the Enhanced Superior Helmet and Bulletproof Vest.
Ring of Elysium - Pirate Carnival Vehicle Skin
Players looking for an advantage in exploring the all-new underwater event will be able to use the newly introduced Diver Propulsion Vehicle. The DPV will help propel players both above and under the water as well as providing an additional oxygen tank for longer excursions. With valuable treasure up for grabs, underwater battles are sure to happen and players with the DPV will also have additional firepower as it comes equipped with front-facing weapons.
Ring of Elysium - DPV
For those players wanting the ultimate pirate accessory, Aurora Studios has announced that players that log into the game for their daily check-in for seven consecutive days will earn a Parrot accessory. Players can start collecting their Pirate’s booty from now until May 3rd, by downloading Ring of Elysium for free on Steam.
