FTS: Acclaimed Kartong - Death By Cardboard! Moves Beyond VR to Also Release for PC



Critically acclaimed “creepy cute” stealth shooter Kartong - Death by Cardboard! will be launching on April 4th. After an Early Access phase with multiple top spots on the Steam VR global bestseller list, the studio now has even bigger plans for the game. Kartong - Death By Cardboard! will feature a non-VR-mode, making it the studio’s first PC release!
“Our motto at SVRVIVE Studios has always been ‘Immersive first’, but with Kartong - Death By Cardboard! we had such fantastic player response during Early Access that we decided to invite non-VR gamers along for the full release. We’re excited to announce that the game now can be played both as a PC game and in its original VR mode ”, says Nils von Heijne, Creative Director at SVRVIVE Studios.
Kartong - Death by Cardboard! puts you up against wicked experiments inside the miniature city of Kartong. An oddly charming YouTuber has shrunken you down to the size of a guinea pig and trapped you in his self-built cardboard maze of evil toys and traps. Your life now depends on mediocre office supply-weapons and your every move is being filmed for his YouTube enjoyment - a truly odd experience, all wrapped up in challenging stealth/FPS gameplay.
Both PC and VR modes will offer procedurally generated levels with constantly changing maps, traps, weapons and toy-enemies. The many difficulty levels will push you to the limit and the unique seed system allows you to replay favorite maps and share them with friends. For the full release, Kartong also features a new progression-system where the enemies you slay drop special coins to upgrade your crossbow, with a special skin for those who beat the game!

With the new gameplay concept Kartong Co-Labs, the studio is also putting your favorite streamers and YouTubers into the deadly cardboard world of Kartong. The custom-made Co-Labs maps will feature different guest events, providing players with a growing library of challenge maps to explore. The various Co-Labs partners will be announced inside the game and on SVRVIVE Studios’ website as they go live.
Kartong - Death by Cardboard! is the second title coming out of the Swedish immersive games studio SVRVIVE Studios, following the success and global acclaim for the mystery adventure game SVRVIVE: The Deus Helix.

Shantae Half Genie-Hero goes Ultimate with a bundle for Nintendo Switch!


Wayford is at it again... bringing an exclusive Shantae Half Genie-Hero Ultimate Day One Edition to the Nintendo Switch in physical form.


Can we recommend this game in the physical form for $39.99? Heck Yeah...  for fans of platforming games and fans of games that deliver extra love in the package (Wahahahaaa). You get the "Risky Beats" soundtrack CD + an Artbook... which is a win already, but... like other ULTIMATE games, you get all the DLC action (like BAM) and you aren't downloading any of it (it's on the game card).


This totally has nothing to do with this post... but Luis was losing his mind playing Rocket League today. His team kept hitting him and knocking the ball toward their goal, I think we might have to buy some mouth soap for the office (technically I guess that would be... toothpaste). Game on!

If you don't have a Nintendo Switch, but you have a PC... you can always get the digital game here (DLC not included and... you don't get the other physical goodies)!

‘GO’ MOBILE APP BRINGS FINAL FANTASY XIV ONLINE EXPERIENCE TO THE OUTDOORS

Geo-Location Technology Transforms Real-World Locations Into Gathering Nodes and Smartphones Into Harvesting Tools

LOS ANGELES (April 1, 2018) – It’s time for fans of FINAL FANTASY® XIV Online to suit up and gather their farming gloves as SQUARE ENIX® today announced the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online GO app, which opens up Eorzea® to the real world. Players can go outside and harvest natural resources that can be used to craft in-game items and gear.

While utilizing the app, players will be notified about harvesting nodes and natural resources in their area via their smartphone’s geo-location capabilities. As they get close to the node, players tap their screen for a chance to harvest the resource exactly like they would in-game.

A unique FINAL FANTASY XIV Online GO Harvesting Stick accessory will also be available for use in conjunction with the app, effectively turning a player’s smartphone into a miner’s hammer, botanist’s axe or fisher’s rod. This allows players to swing their phone in the real world like they would in-game to harvest resources, boosting a player’s harvesting success rate to 100%.

The new Xbox X Stream device is available... now!


Xbox goes... mini, in a sense. Here is the Microsoft Store Exclusive Xbox X Stream.


The XBXS isn't a self contained console, its a streaming box that allows you to stream games from Windows 10. I don't know if that means games from the Windows Store or any games playable on Windows 10 (including Steam). Its a win if it can play Steam games also.

I don't think this means that the Xbox One console will be replaced, but I think they're acknowledging the fact that some gamers are not going to buy one, so the be option to appeal with a streamable option.

It may be Windows Store only though because it is business vs business, but the competition is fierce... so good luck on that one. I won't count Microsoft out though because the Windows Store has games releasing at the same time as the Xbox One.

The Xbox X Stream bundle will cost you $79.99 and comes with... the XBXS, an Xbox Wireless Controller and... the Xbox Flex Headset. The XBXS and the headset are exclusive to this bundle. You can get it at the store or online.
