Samsung Odyssey VR Headset... to wait or to buy? That is the question.

The Samsung Odyssey is coming out this fall... along with Windows VR headsets from Dell, HP, Asus and others. Prices will vary along with quality, look and comfort but... are you interested?

This looks bad ass. - Luis D. Lucha | Sdgt Ent
If you're looking to get a VR headset for your Windows 10 PC... first make sure it can handle the hardware through the official Microsoft compatibility app, but also take a step back and find out if it has the content worth buying the hardware for (when it comes to you). Luckily for gamers... SteamVR will be here for us, but even with that in mind... make sure the games are up your virtual alley. If you know what type of VR action you're into, that is.

I think it'll be worth it for the entertainment. - Yang | Sdgt Ent
Not everyone will get a chance to try before they buy, but try to get your eyes on plenty of reviews before you fire off on a specific one. Look out for the quality and make sure its something you can wear for a long period of time and often. Also, look out for the sound quality if it has built-in headphones, to make sure it's not crappy.

Weigh your options!!! What else can you get, if you're strapped for cash and you have to save up for one of these... then drop the money into one that's worth the money. In other words... avoid the ones that are understandably cheap.

These specific headsets are known as mixed reality headsets (that don't require additional sensors around the home) and... I look forward to the day these things are advanced enough to be wireless, allowing me to walk around my home freely. If I were going to get one this fall, it would probably be the Samsung Odyssey due to the AMOLED screens and the AKG headphones... because the quality needs to be there in order for me to get my actual worth out of it (especially for $499 + tax). The better the quality, the more I can appreciate the experience.

A game has to be... super good to get me back to motion controls. - RkRk | Sdgt Ent

The Samsung Odyssey gives you 2880 x 1600 in resolution, OLED display, 90Hz refresh rate, 110˚ max field view, headphones + dual array mics and motion controllers (the ones you see here). By the way... when it comes to VR controllers, it wouldn't hurt to have some with additional buttons for the purpose of advanced gameplay. Then again... I am completely fine holding a standard game controller while without flailing my arms about.

Samsung Odyssey VR Headset... to wait or to buy? Hmm, depends on if you're content with the cost mainly. There are people that go after the latest tech and want to maximize their experiences, so if you want to get your hands on one... do yourself the biggest favor and enjoy it to the fullest.

Check out... Freeman: Star Edge + Play the Alpha today!

Freeman: Star Edge takes flight on Kickstarter October 3rd and it contains a nice variety of awesome!

You might be wonder... what in the hell is Freeman: Star Edge?! Well... it's described as a free-form sandbox sci-fi action RPG, allowing you to explore various planets and stars engaging in tactical space + ground combat. Sounds ambitious and if you take a look at the video below... it also looks the part.

From the Source:

Freeman: Star Edge was successfully greenlit on steam back in January 2017. The game is a complete sandbox experience giving players the freedom to explore and travel the universe without the limitations. Exiled to the Star Edge, raiders, warlords, and merchants vie for wealth and power in distant galaxies. Every choice is your own, choose to gather and trade, explore strange lands, or command starship armadas. The destiny of entire worlds await.

“We want to combine space exploration with ground expeditions. And merge realistic Arma style combat with intense large-scale space combat into one-fluent single player game,” says, Lead developer, Hai Ren, during an interview with CobraTV.

Many people are describing the Freeman: Star Edge game as “It is like a mashup of Mount & Blade, Skyrim and Mass Effect.”

The studio just launched their thunderclap to support their upcoming Kickstarter campaign due to launch on Oct 3rd 2017https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/62246-freeman-star-edge-kickstarter

Additional Key Features (more to come)
  • Full Space and Planet Exploration (both crafted and generated content) - Countrysides, Caves, Dungeons, Civilian Houses.
  • Randomly Generated Planets, Discover New Locations, and Factions
  • Massive space and Ground Melee Combat; PVP
  • Squad Based Combat and Commanding
  • Board Enemy Spaceships
  • Character customization
  • Settlement and Home Building
  • Companions/Relationships
  • Home Building and Full Settlement Creation
  • Spaceship Customization - Both Exterior/Interior
  • Missions, Side Quests and Achievements
  • Discover and Hunt Wild Beasts
  • Stealing, gathering, mining, trading
  • Vehicles and Transportation
  • Minigame Elements: Gambling Simulation

This game feels like a cross between... Phantasy Star Online, Mass Effect and ARMA... with the gloves off.

Overall... if they can pull it off, it should be a game worth the investment because the playtime should be heavy. If they are able to give gamers the option to customize as they plan on doing with modders... it should be even sicker. I want to see all sorts of ships, land vehicles, buildings, and cities worth exploring. Anyway, give it a try and see what you think of it thus far! The guys are banging on my door so we can go and grab a super late lunch.

Nex Machina... reviewed!

Nex Machina is the type of game that grabs you by the coin yelling "Lets hit the Arcade!".

This game brings you front and center (top side down to be exact) in an action-packed twin-stick shooter... that does a visually stunning job with voxels. I'm in awe when I play it. Now that they've made the game playable on older PCs... I've had the opportunity to play it on my older (but much stronger desktop) and surround sound. I've played it on a laptop using the HyperX Cloud Stinger headset... and I only wanted to play with the headset on. The Sentey Harmoniq Pro do a bang up job also, but when using the surround sound in the office... that takes the cake (it just feels right).
I won't tell you to go into Nex Machina... expecting depth. Only go in expecting arcade action that gives you plenty to enjoy as you take down enemies, rescue survivors, find hidden ones, and then some as you avoid dying to build up that almighty score. They threw in a little story there, but (meh)... doesn't really matter... it's sort of just there to give you a reason why the worlds exist. When you jump in, if you know what you're doing and aren't just dodging with no plan of killing the enemies stalking you... the game will go on and on like that theme song from Lamb Chops Play-Along. Other than that you fly from one area to the next taking down enemies, switching weapons, dashing, (possibly) uncovering secrets and taking on the bosses from each world.
Modes include:
Arcade - Which is the basic game from start to finish and you can go at it easy with infinite continues or challenge yourself to beat it with the basics.
Online Arena – Is the mode that delivers the biggest amount of replay value. Basically, you start off at the initial stage and work on racking up the biggest score possible... before you bite the digital dust to see how you match up against other gamers. Use secrets to your advantage, along with score multipliers and that should help set you apart, but it can be tricky... because even if you know where all the secrets are... if you die easily... it won't matter.
Single World – (Not to be confused with a dating show) That allows you to play any world you've unlocked in Arcade.
Local Co-Op – Which I haven't had the chance to enjoy yet (and hope they deliver an online co-op).
You also get... not 10, not 20, not even 50... 221 in-game achievements to accomplish & 39 Steam achievements... so achievement hunters looking to invest some hours into a game, this is chock full of em'.
Price wise... at $19.99, it's on point. The praise would probably be increased at $14.99 (because then it would be a steal), but nearly everyone that has played the game... thoroughly enjoys the award-winning experience at the retail price which has great value.
Online co-op would've been wonderful, but the Local co-op & Online Arena makes up for it.
Overall, if you remember the days where most gamers were about the highest score and being the local, regional or world top scorer in a really challenging arcade game... then this one is for you. If you're even curious about it, check it out... its a change of pace and worthy of being added to your library if you like these sorts of games.

Square-Enix's Left Alive excites me because...

The title art for Left Alive... excited me. Is Square-Enix giving us their take on Metal Gear Solid? My answer is... probably, just don't expect the legendary Snake in this survival action shooter. More details will be unveiled about this game very soon. How soon? Try the Tokyo Game Show 2017 this week! So not only did the 2017 PlayStation Press Conference get my attention with this... I'm drooling for more.

I think I should mention why it really has my attention. I've seen no game play, but the developers... the developers (two times) have me giddy! Veteran developers on this project are:

Toshifumi Nabeshima | Director of the Armored Core Series

Yoji Shinkawa | Character Designer of the Metal Gear Series

Takayuki Yanase | Mech Designer of Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and... Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Is it safe to be excited... or is it safer to be ecstatic?

Anyway... check out the trailer below for "Left Alive", which will be available on PS4 & PC!
