FTS: DON'T NOD Unveils "Koira" Release Date, Demo & Trailer (PC, PS5)

DON’T NOD Reveals New Gameplay Trailer, Release Date & Demo for Upcoming Adventure Game Koira

Koira is also coming to PlayStation 5 upon release

COLOGNE, Germany  Aug. 21, 2024 – DON'T NOD and Studio Tolima are pleased to reveal today, from gamescom, a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming adventure game Koira, which officially releases on April 17, 2025. The game will be released on PC, and we are happy to confirm that it will come to PlayStation 5 at the same time. A free demo of the game has also been launched on Steam in conjunction with the trailer.

Koira is a wholesome adventure game that follows a forest spirit and her new puppy friend as they journey together to reach safety in the heart of an enchanted forest. Solve ancient puzzles, befriend woodland creatures, and try to find your way home while avoiding danger along the way, as hunters lurk in the shadows...

Koira's new trailer shows off the title's gameplay: the interactions between spirit and puppy and other woodland creatures, puzzle solving, and using stealth to avoid the relentless hunters.

The demo for Koira is available on Steam and takes players through different sections of the game to give a taste of what lies in store. Both publisher and developer eagerly await the feedback of demo players.

Koira is the second third-party game to be published by DON’T NOD and the first game coming out of Studio Tolima, a passionate team of developers in Belgium.

Ugly... Reviewed!

Story: Let me start by saying, the characterization is admirable. The protagonist, the nobleman, has a depth that is rare in this genre. You'll feel his pain, his fear, his anxiety and his desire to conquer his past. The villains, on the other hand, you will hate them to the point that you really want to destroy them. The characters emit a unique aura that completely reinforces the plot.

Gameplay: The direction of the game is flawless. Each element, character, puzzle, and music is perfectly merged to sustain the plot and pace of the game. The developers have done an exceptional job making sure that the mirror mechanic is seamlessly integrated into all aspects of the game.

Audio: The music is eerie and dark and it captures the tone of the game perfectly. You will instantly feel immersed in this dark world. The musical score is memorable and will stick with you long after the game is over.

Price: Ugly is priced at $19.99, and it's worth every cent. Ugly is an artistic masterpiece. The game mechanics are innovative, the narrative is poignant, the characters are fleshed out, the sound design is haunting, and the direction is impeccable. The player is challenged in a unique way that definitely keeps you hooked. There aren't many flaws with this game, but it's not for everyone. Its images may be too dark, the pace slower, and the puzzles too challenging for some players. But if you enjoy slower-paced platformers with exceptional stories and mechanics, Ugly is for you.

First 30: Somerville

Somerville is a work of art. Off the bat, you're pulled into this beautiful cinematic experience that feels like a polygonal film. I didn't even realize that it was officially time for me to take the reigns when the gameplay initially began.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this game, but once I got into it and began to flow... I was definitely ready for more. It's safe to say that this 1st 30 wasn't my last time playing this game, but... I couldn't just play it to the point that left nothing for you to experience. So... get ready for this "hand-crafted narrative experience". This game is listed under Adventure in regards to genres, but I'd also add puzzle + thriller for you... and the people that watch you play this game.

I highly recommend either listening to this on surround sound or a nice pair of headphones... like the Audeze Mobius... or even the 1More Aero earbuds (based on the spatial sound technology).

Welcome to Somerville, enjoy!

This game is rated for Everyone 10+
