MindsEye: A Narrative Powerhouse Trapped Inside Unpolished Gameplay

Few games launch with the kind of narrative ambition that MindsEye brings to the table. Developed by Build A Rocket Boy—founded by former Rockstar producer Leslie Benzies—the game is positioned as a core single-player experience within the larger “Everywhere” project, a sprawling metaverse platform. In MindsEye, players dive into a near-future world where corporate espionage, memory manipulation, and shadowy alliances pull you through a story packed with twists, betrayals, and philosophical questions about identity and control.

From the very first scene, MindsEye drips with cinematic flair. Its pacing, camera angles, and voice acting echo the polish of a high-budget streaming series. Plot points unfold with intensity, and the lead character’s descent into conspiracies and underground resistance movements is told with real narrative heft. You don’t just watch it—you feel it.

But here’s the catch: when you’re not in a cutscene, you kinda wish that you were... especially during combat. You get geared up for a segue into awesome gameplay to... (wait, you know what, just... just see it for yourself.)

The third-person gameplay frequently undercuts the immersion with awkward camera placement, clunky cover transitions, and animations that sometimes misalign completely... like enemies shooting while holding their guns at baffling angles (like... WTF is that?). I was literally playing, saying "What the heck is that?!" You’d think the characters were aiming curved weapons the way bullets seem to arc in a different direction. I take no joy in any of this, I hate it for the developer because of the massive budget poured into this game that they'll have to eat... and ofcourse the gamers who were looking forward to this game (and bought it day 1). Is all lost though? Not at all!

If Build A Rocket Boy is willing to jump in and fix this multimillion dollar game, it may save the game and the studios long term plans + rep. Sure it will cost them to go back in and set things right, but... it will cost them even more (in my opinion) if they just walk away. We'll reach out to them.

While some of the flaws could be dismissed as polish issues during development, addressing the deeper gameplay problems... and shifting the player’s perspective... could elevate the entire experience. Adopting a first-person view would better align with the game’s cinematic strengths. The current third-person, over-the-shoulder angle may work for other action titles, but in MindsEye, it often feels like you're watching your character struggle rather than stepping directly into their world.

This is why it may be time for Build A Rocket Boy to consider a bold pivot: switching the core perspective from third-person to first-person for all immersive sequences—leaving third-person strictly for necessary traversal moments like improved cover maneuvers, vehicle entry + driving, or platforming. Doing so could dramatically increase immersion and refine the connection between player and protagonist. You’d see the world through the character’s eyes and it would give us the ability to use the character's eye-phone (see what I did there?). You’d feel the tension, the claustrophobia, and the split-second decisions more intimately.

Of course, a camera switch alone won’t correct enemy pathing bugs or bizarre gun animations. But it would realign the gameplay with the game’s biggest strength: its storytelling. The cutscenes are captivating. The voice acting is stellar. If MindsEye were on Netflix, fans would be begging for a second season. As a game, it just needs help crossing the finish line.

So here's the challenge to Build A Rocket Boy: don't let this be another brilliant story dragged down by rough mechanics. Polish what needs polishing. Reconsider the perspective. Tighten the experience. And give this game the mechanical fidelity to match its narrative excellence.

Because story-wise? MindsEye isn’t just a game. It’s a film waiting to happen.
Let the gameplay rise to the occassion. I want to look back and say... that's one of those games that came back better than ever! You wouldn't be alone, don't forget Cyberpunk 2077 and No Man's Sky! I wouldn't say any of this if the game were in Early Access or if I didn't believe the game could be better.

F1 25: The Ultimate Racing Experience for Fans of the Game, the Sport, and the Film

The lights go out, and the race begins! F1 25 has officially hit the track, bringing high-octane thrills, cinematic storytelling, and cutting-edge realism to racing fans worldwide. Whether you're a die-hard Formula 1 enthusiast, a gaming speedster, or someone hyped for the F1 movie, this game is your ticket to the grid.

Before we floor it into the details, hop in for the first 30 minutes of gameplay!

Revving Up the Features: What’s New in F1 25?

This year’s installment isn’t just another lap around the circuit... it’s a full-throttle evolution of the franchise. Developed by Codemasters and EA Sports, F1 25 introduces My Team 2.0, a revamped handling model, and (LIDAR) laser-scanned tracks for pinpoint accuracy.

Braking Point 3: A Story Mode Worth the Podium

The Braking Point saga returns, putting players in the driver’s seat of Konnersport Butler Global Racing Team. With multiple perspectives, high-stakes rivalries, and cinematic drama, this mode feels like a Hollywood blockbuster on wheels. I was honestly locked in on the progression of the story and wanted to perform at my best for the good of the team, like... "Damn, I don't wanna mess this up!"

F1 The Movie Integration: Race Like a Star

For the first time ever, F1 25 lets players step into the shoes of Sonny Hayes and Joshua Pearce, the fictional drivers from the upcoming F1 movie starring Brad Pitt. You can race in identical scenarios from the film, making this a must-play for movie buffs and racing fans alike.

Reverse Tracks & Lidar-Scanned Circuits

Ever wondered what Silverstone or Zandvoort would feel like in reverse? F1 25 introduces inverted circuits, adding a fresh challenge to familiar tracks. Plus, five circuits... including Suzuka and Imola... have been rebuilt using Lidar technology, ensuring unmatched realism.

Take Your Racing Experience to the Next Level

If you want to feel the speed, the roar, and the adrenaline like never before, here are two ways to supercharge your F1 25 experience (and that's what it's all about when you aren't streaming or playing in tournaments):

VR Racing: Step Inside the Cockpit

For the ultimate immersion, grab a compatible VR headset and experience F1 25 in virtual reality. Feel the G-forces, react to realistic track conditions, and live the thrill of racing from a first-person perspective. If you already own a VR headset, this is a win!

Race Wheel & Surround Sound: Get in the Zone

Want to feel every turn, every bump, and every acceleration? Equip yourself with a high-quality racing wheel like the Thrustmaster Scuderia Ferrari Race Kit and surround sound system. The force feedback will make you fight the car like a real driver, while engine roars and tire screeches will transport you straight to the Grand Prix. Headsets work great when you need to keep the volume down.

F1 25 isn’t just a game... it’s an experience. Whether you’re competing for the championship, reliving iconic movie moments, or pushing the limits in VR, this year’s installment is a celebration of speed, strategy, and spectacle.

So, strap in, hit the throttle, and chase the checkered flag... because F1 25 is ready to take you for a ride! 🏎️ I normally would play a rally game or street racing, but this grabbed my attention.

Xbox Games Showcase 2025 Ignites the Summer of Gaming

Welcome to the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 Recap! If you missed the event, don’t worry... we’ve got you covered like a tarp with the unexpected surprises, and enough gaming goodness to keep your button mashers busy for quite some time. Grab something delicious to eat and press play!

 The Big Reveals

Microsoft threw a knockout punch to close out the first part of the showcase with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, delivering mind-bending action, near-future weaponry, and a reality-shifting co-op campaign. I saw the robot and thought, “COD?”... but the trailer blurred the line between horror, sci-fi, and military ops so well, it kept me guessing till the logo hit.

But that wasn’t the only jaw-dropper... Persona 4 Revival finally got its long-awaited remake announcement, bringing back the beloved characters and turn-based combat wrapped in a modern visual overhaul. Meanwhile, Beast of Reincarnation made its grand debut, blending dark fantasy lore with action-RPG gameplay that looks both punishing and poetic.

The Outer Worlds 2 returned with that trademark satirical flair, showcasing more wild planets and corporate chaos, but the ones that really grabbed me were High on Life 2... doubling down on its outrageous humor and living weaponry... and Animo, a creature-collection RPG that feels more alive and dynamic than many of its Pokémon-inspired peers.

Then came the hardware mic drop: the reveal of the long-anticipated Xbox Ally handheld. We didn’t expect them to team up with a third-party like ASUS, but to be fair, ASUS isn’t new to premium gaming hardware. Their role as both manufacturer and design partner works—even if I’m still on the fence about the look. It leans more ASUS than Xbox in vibe, but hey, if it performs and plays Xbox games natively, I’ll deal. Set to launch in 2025, we’re still waiting on an official price, though the assumed range is $599–$699 for the base ROG Xbox Ally, and $899–$999 for the beefed-up ROG Xbox Ally X. It runs Windows 11, so multiple game platforms should be playable on the handheld (and they better be... based on the price).

ROG Xbox Ally X (High-End Model)

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme (8-core/16-thread, 16 GPU cores, with NPU for AI tasks)

  • RAM: 24GB LPDDR5X-8000

  • Storage: 1TB M.2 2280 SSD

  • Battery: 80Wh

  • Display: 7" FHD 1080p IPS, 120Hz, 500 nits, FreeSync Premium with Gorilla Glass Victus, 16:9 Ratio, DXC Anti-Reflection

  • Extras: USB4, impulse triggers, Xbox full-screen UI

ROG Xbox Ally (Base Model)

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen Z2 A (4-core/8-thread, 8 GPU cores)

  • RAM: 16GB LPDDR5X-6400

  • Storage: 512GB M.2 2280 SSD

  • Battery: 60Wh

  • Display: Same as Ally X

  • Extras: Dual USB-C, hall effect triggers

 Additional Eye Catchers

  • Grounded 2 is back this July, and the backyard survival madness is even more intense—this time with new enemies, biomes, and crafting systems.

  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (DLC) drops in September, extending the base game's archaeological adventures with fresh puzzles and pulpy cinematic moments.

  • Ninja Gaiden 4 slices into October with brutally fast hack-and-slash gameplay and that familiar difficulty curve that fans love (and fear).

  • Super Meat Boy 3D flips the series into a whole new dimension—literally. Expect twitch-platforming and gory charm in high-res style.

And let’s not forget Gears of War: Reloaded, a true stunner with 4K visuals at 120 FPS, full cross-play, and cross-progression. It’s both a love letter to the franchise and a flex on what next-gen nostalgia can look like.

Of course, a couple more stood out in a big way:

  • The Blood of Dawnwalker, a dark RPG where you play as a vampire-human hybrid during the Black Plague... it’s full of eerie atmosphere, political intrigue, and moral dilemmas.

  • And Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, a fresh prequel to the original saga that leans into myth, stealth, and combat, all set on the haunting Minotaur’s Island.

 No Xbox? No Problem!

If you love what you see and want to dive into the action but don’t own an Xbox or a PC, no worries! You can grab an Xbox Bundle for just $108.98 here. It’s a steal, especially if you’re planning to go all-in on the GamePass action.

Xbox didn’t just show up—they did their thing. Whether you’re hyped for the next big shooter, a nostalgic remake, or Xbox's entry into the handheld arena, 2025's Summer of Gaming is burning up.
