Big Helmet Heroes: The Cartoon Hack & Slash Game... that may become a Family Favorite!

Looking for a fast-paced action game with the ability to deliver big laughs, bold battles, and doesn’t break the bank? Big Helmet Heroes might be a great addition to your collection... and the best part? It’s fun for all ages! This feels like a first party PlayStation exclusive to me, check it out:

This colorful hack-and-slash game blends hilarious cartoon visualscustomizable armor, and satisfying combat into a package that’s both entertaining and family-friendly. Whether you’re a seasoned gamer able to string combos like an EVO vet... or just want something lightly sprinkled to enjoy with the family, Big Helmet Heroes has enough... oomph for everyone + the sound effects & background music are beautifully blended with the visuals to make this awesome sauce!

Why I think this could become a family favorite, is a feature the game doesn't even have yet! (You heard me right, but...) If the Devs are able to resolve the performance issues with 4-player co-op... Big Helmet Heroes will be perfect for family fun night! It's one of those highly entertaining games that can set a Friday night off right alongside a really good pizza, your favorite drinks + a fun movie! Everything feels like it should be a 4-player co-op too, so... I think it's just a matter of time. You get to choose from 4 distict combat styles with heroes like... The Warrior, Brute, The Rogue, and... The Monk. Their different combat styles are a perfect co-op combo to take on the challenges ahead when 4-player action is finally implemented, plus look at the amount of space + the placement of the player HUD on the screen was evidence enough that you can place three more with ease.

I believe it would add to the longevity of the game's support to add 4-player co-op, and if they serve up DLC adventures (which they may simply turn in the direction of sequels instead)... it would keep the party going. Big Helmet Heroes has the potential to be a franchise in my opinion, that could also serve as a gem of fun for game nights. By the way, I will present this article to the Devs to help fuel their multiplayer motivation.

By the way, if you want the full package... the Exalted Edition is only a few bucks more. Meaning, you get:

Big Helmet Heroes (same version as the basic edition)

+ Big Helmet heroes - Artbook

+ Big Helmet Heroes - Soundtrack

Grab Big Helmet Heroes while its 20% off and you'll get it for $19.99 or $23.99 for the Exalted Edition. So strap on your helm, grab your favorite game controller a + 1... and game on!

33 Immortals: The $20 Game That Could Become a Legendary Adventure

(33 Immortals is currently in Early Access.)

In an age where AAA games often come with a $70 price tag, 33 Immortals offers a refreshing alternative — delivering epic, fast-paced fun for just... $19.99. Developed by Thunder Lotus Games (the creators of Spiritfarer), 33 Immortals combines action, survival, and mythology into a wild 33-player co-op roguelike experience that feels massive without draining your wallet. Affordable is the name of my game, you can snag a meal and 33 Immortals for less than $30 bucks to kick off the weekend!

Whether you’re playing on console or PC, 33 Immortals makes it easy for you and your friends to dive into the chaos together... with a bunch of other people! It's not just the ability to play with a ton of other people... it's a fun game and you have to work together. Here's an example of the action:

Built for Long-Term Greatness

The brilliance of 33 Immortals lies not only in its immediate gameplay but also in its immense potential. With solid developer support and a dedicated player base, it could easily evolve into a game that thrives for years—much like Destiny 2 or Warframe. By the way... voice chat takes this to a whole notha level.

What could drive its success

  • Fresh adventures: New bosses, environments, and loot drops to keep gameplay exciting.

  • Seasonal events: Limited-time battles, unique rewards, or new immortals to play as.

  • Player-driven content: Community challenges, leaderboards, or fan-voted features.

If Thunder Lotus continues enriching the experience and players keep the lobbies buzzing, 33 Immortals could become a staple on hard drives everywhere.

A Playground for Creative Crossovers

With its mythological themes and epic scale, 33 Immortals offers endless possibilities for creative collaborations. Imagine these legendary franchises stepping into the fold:

  • God of War: Kratos teaming up with the Immortals? A match forged in Valhalla.

  • Hades: Zagreus would feel right at home slicing through hordes with dash attacks.

  • Undertale: Sans and Papyrus adding quirky, high-risk rewards to the mix.

  • Dark Souls: Survive brutal, Souls-inspired bosses in a special event.

  • Castlevania: Gothic horror aesthetics melding seamlessly with the art style and lore.

These crossovers could inject incredible variety while appealing to fans of iconic franchises.

Survival Is Key: Pro-Tip

While it’s tempting to focus on upgrading attacks, survival often takes center stage in 33 Immortals. Here’s a critical tip:

"Learn to dodge better than you attack." Blu

Enemies swarm from all sides, and chaos escalates the longer you persist. Rolling, dashing, and well-timed evasions are your greatest assets. You and other players can pull eachother from the brink of defeat, but its easier to be victorious with as many badasses as possible.

  • Study enemy patterns. Know when to strike and when to retreat.

  • Perfect your dodging skills early; you’ll not only survive longer but also become the Immortal everyone wants reviving them.

At just $19.99, 33 Immortals is a chaotic, accessible, and unforgettable adventure. Packed with mythology, teamwork, and replayability, it has the potential to join the ranks of gaming greats with strong community support.

If you’re ready to take up arms against the wrath of heaven itself... There’s no better time to join the rebellion. You can jump in right now via PC or Xbox.

Sniper Elite: Resistance - The Parallel Journey of Harry Hawker!

Sniper Elite: Resistance | PC | Console

The acclaimed Sniper Elite franchise returns to France with a new lead operative, Harry Hawker, who totally sounds like Jason Statham... but its not. It's actually a voice actor by the name of Klemens Koehring. Your goal is to infiltrate occupied France and fight alongside the French Resistance to stop the Nazis developing an insidious new wonder weapon that could change the course of the war (dun dun dunnn). Offering unparalleled sniping mechanics, stealth, and tactical third-person combat, Sniper Elite: Resistance turns the attention of the award-winning series towards a hidden war, far from the front lines, deep within the heart of the country.

A Parallel Journey: Sniper Elite 5 and Sniper Elite: Resistance

Both 2023's Sniper Elite 5 and the new Sniper Elite: Resistance... take place during 1944's occupied France, but in different locations. The elite sniper from Sniper Elite 5, Karl Fairburne is part of the covert US Rangers operation to weaken the Atlantikwall fortifications along the coast of Brittany, but he eventually makes contact with the French Resistance. They uncover a secret project called Operation Kraken that they have to take on.

Sniper Elite 5 | PC | Console

In Sniper Elite: Resistance, the elite sniper, Harry Hawker is part of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) who teams up with the French Resistance as they race against the clock to stop the Nazi's from raising hell with the insidious new Wunderwaffe.

So both of these soldiers are on their mission, but if you're a fan of Sniper Elite games... you've seen Harry Hawker before. The British sniper and recon expert has been deployed in various missions throughout the series, even in multiplayer. So you've seen him in Sniper Elite 3, 4, and 5 overlapping with Karl Fairburne's mission to standing in the spotlight in Sniper Elite: Resistance. Hawker was even referenced in SE5 regarding his involvement in the action. So if you'd played SE5, you should enjoy the different aspects of the shared conflict with an emphasis on the crucial role the covert operations and collaboration with the French Resistance played in undermining the Nazi war machine. It broadens the war effort and the teamwork between Allied forces and the local resistance behind enemy lines. It's also a smart way to utilize and reintroduce familiar faces in the Sniper Elite universe.

Players will notice familiar elements from the previous installment, such as realistic ballistics and strategic opportunities in gameplay, which are seamlessly integrated into this new storyline.

Sniper Elite: Resistance offers:

  • Advanced Sniping Mechanics: Enjoy precise and realistic sniping with enhanced ballistics and slow-motion kill cams.

  • Stealth and Tactical Combat: Utilize stealth and strategy to outsmart enemies and complete objectives.

  • Engaging Storyline: Follow Harry Hawker's journey as he battles the Nazis and uncovers their plans.

  • Rich Environments: Explore diverse and detailed locations within occupied France, each with unique challenges and opportunities.

I'm sure you've heard enough and would like to jump into the first 30 minutes of Sniper Elite: Resistance. This gameplay footage provides a glimpse into the intense action as I take my first swing at the bat as a noob (of this franchise), and immersive storytelling:

The Evolution of Final Fantasy: From Turn-Based Battles to Action-Packed Adventures in Final Fantasy XVI

The Final Fantasy series has long been a cornerstone of the RPG genre, known for its intricate storytelling, memorable characters, and strategic turn-based combat. However, with the release of Final Fantasy XVI, the franchise has taken a bold step into the realm of action RPGs, marking a significant shift in gameplay that has been years in the making. That said, it wasn't the first.

The Turn-Based Era

The early Final Fantasy games were defined by their turn-based combat systems. Players would take turns selecting actions for their characters, carefully planning their moves to outwit their opponents. This methodical approach to combat was a hallmark of the series, allowing for deep strategic gameplay and a focus on character development.

The Rise of Action RPGs

As the gaming landscape evolved, so too did players' tastes. Action RPGs, which blend the narrative depth of traditional RPGs with real-time combat, began to gain popularity. Titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dark Souls, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt captivated audiences with their dynamic combat systems and immersive worlds. These games demonstrated that players were eager for more immediate and visceral gameplay experiences.

Clues from the Past

The evolution in Final Fantasy gameplay didn't happen overnight. Several titles in the series changed the game.

Final Fantasy IV introduced the Active Time Battle (ATB) system, adding a real-time element to the turn-based combat, making battles more dynamic and strategic. PC Versions here.

Final Fantasy VII was groundbreaking with its 3D graphics and pre-rendered backgrounds, setting a new standard for visual presentation in RPGs. The Materia system allowed players to customize their characters' abilities and magic. There are many gamers who don't even acknowledge the franchise prior to Final Fantasy VII.

Final Fantasy X brought voice acting to the series for the first time, adding a new layer of immersion to the storytelling. The Sphere Grid system allowed for highly customizable character progression. Final Fantasy X-2 was the first direct sequel in the Final Fantasy series, and the all-female cast was a hit and praised along with the return of the job system.

PC Version here.

Final Fantasy XII introduced a more fluid combat system, allowing players to move freely during battles and set up automated actions through the Gambit system. It also featured a more open-world design, allowing for greater exploration and a more immersive experience. PC Version here.

Final Fantasy XV took this a step further with its real-time combat, where players could control Noctis directly and engage in fast-paced battles. The game also featured a vast open world with numerous side quests, offering a more expansive and engaging experience. Total boy band vibes! There is also a Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition that was the first of it's kind that opened the door to the an abridged version on mobile devices. PC Version here.

Final Fantasy XVI: A New Era

Final Fantasy XVI represents the culmination of this gradual shift. The game features a fully-fledged action RPG combat system, where players can execute combos, dodge attacks, and unleash powerful abilities in real-time. This change has been met with excitement and anticipation, as it delivers a fresh and exhilarating experience while retaining the rich storytelling and character development that fans love.

The journey from turn-based battles to action-packed combat in Final Fantasy reflects the broader trends in the gaming industry. By embracing the popularity of action RPGs and incorporating elements from previous titles, Final Fantasy XVI stands as a testament to the series' ability to innovate and adapt. As the franchise continues to evolve, one thing remains certain: Final Fantasy will always be at the forefront of RPG excellence. Will it ever return to strategic JRPG battles? Maybe, but perhaps that will come in the form of a spin-off. Anyway, Final Fantasy XVI is available now on PC and the PS5. I'll leave you with a dose of the first 30 minutes, and until next time, game on!
