Crash Bandicoot + Donkey Kong Country = Nikoderiko: The Magical World?

When I saw Nikoderiko: The Magical World's title art, it definitely grabbed my attention... and when I saw the trailer I was all in. The vibrant adventure evokes the charm of classic franchises like Crash Bandicoot and Donkey Kong Country, without feeling like a clone. Niko and Luna are charming characters with their own interesting adventure, and it doesn't feel like it's in the shadow of the greats. I'd call it Crash Bandicoot + DK Country-like.

In Nikoderiko, Niko and Luna stumble upon an ancient relic on a mystical island. However, their discovery is short-lived as the villainous Grimbald of the Cobring Gems Company snatches it away. To save the island and its tribes, the heroes must navigate through seven unique worlds, each filled with challenges and surprises.

Throughout their journey, Niko and Luna can collect and summon playable animal friends with unique abilities. These mounts serve as helpful rides and valuable allies in battle, adding an extra layer of strategy and fun to the gameplay. If gameplay is a little too tough, just switch up the difficulty, but... I think you've got this.

Nikoderiko offers a diverse range of worlds to explore, each with its own lovable characters, friendly areas, epic bosses, and various gameplay themes. From minecart rides to chase levels and underwater adventures, each world features iconic landmarks and boss-themed areas that give you a blast from the past in a new way. See it for yourself in this first 30 of... Nikoderiko: The Magical World:

Nikoderiko is a multiplatform game, available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. No matter your preferred gaming device, you can join Niko and Luna on their magical quest.

Nikoderiko is designed with co-op in mind. The game features single-screen + couch co-op (and not that awkward co-op either), allowing friends and family to join forces and enjoy the adventure together. The whimsical and festive atmosphere is inviting to players of all ages.

Nintendo News: Nintendo Download Highlights New Digital Content for Nintendo Systems

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- This week’s Nintendo Download includes the following featured content:

Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse – The Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse game is now available exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS system. The protagonist is a novice demon hunter in the ruins of Tokyo who meets an untimely end, only to find himself returned to the world of the living by the lesser god Dagda to serve as a pawn in his schemes … with humankind as the prize!

Nintendo eShop on Wii U

Severed – Take control of a one-armed warrior named Sasha who wields a living sword on her journey through a nightmare world in search of her family. Features include Wii U Off-TV Play, in-game achievements and HD graphical optimizations. Buy the Wii U version of Severed and receive a free download code for the Nintendo 3DS version upon release. This game is part of the #Nindies Summer Jam promotion, with a special introductory price through 8:59 a.m. PT on Sept. 29.

  • Wii Retail on Wii U
    • Donkey Kong Country Returns – Donkey Kong Island has been taken over by the musical Tiki Tak Tribe! In this Wii platforming classic, jump, swing and blast your way through more than 65 levels spanning eight worlds. There are many hidden items to uncover in each level, and collecting them all will unlock something special. Invite a friend to take control of Diddy Kong for two-player cooperative play (additional accessories required for multiplayer mode; sold separately).
  • Virtual Console on Nintendo 3DS
    • Final Fight 2 – In the second chapter of the beat-’em-up Super NES classic, the Final Fight 2 game will take Haggar back to the streets of Metro City. Accompanied by Maki and Carlos, he will travel across the world and fight to end Mad Gear Gang’s reign once and for all…
    • Final Fight 3 – In the third chapter of the Super NES Final Fight series, a new enemy has arisen by the name of Skull Cross. Join Haggar, Guy, Cody and Lucia as they battle it out on the streets of Metro City once more in what may be their actual final fight.

Can we get a Final Fight remake? Believe it or not there is enough history there to get a wonderfully sick Final Fight remake with a deep engaging story-line. A visually appealing 2.5D version would work (and the cut-scenes could be CG), and... (hmm) it could take us through the ups and downs that have occurred with the characters. If this inspires such a thing... I wouldn't want the game to contain "Classic controls" or give us the option to swap between the classic and more modern controls because stiff game-play wouldn't really work (for me).
