House Party: Before the Review!

This simulation is not for kids... and it's not safe for work either.

In House Party, you get a college dose of drinking, dancing, fights, sex, and other craziness. The game is still in Early Access, and the developers poke fun at that fact but... its functional and ratings are very positive on Steam. This game seems to get a real rise out of some gamers.

You're basically the friend of the popular guy, and so you're taking advantage of an invite he gave you as you mingle for better or worse with other party-goers. If you play your cards right, you can build friendships and even affection... but you can also find yourself laying on the ground after a fresh K.O.

We aren't going to review the game in early access... that would be premature, but my experience with it was interesting (I was knocked out a few times after being caught with booze... but not the drunk guy). I would have liked to see more party games, but maybe they'll add them in as the game reaches it's official release date.

You have a backyard for beanbag toss, there should be an area for darts, and billiards too. The game challenges you to be social without being offensive and rude... with the goal of having sexy time. I'll leave it at that (and i'll save the review for later)... but check out the official description for House Party below!

DESCRIPTION

Once hailed as Rock, Paper, Shotgun’s worst game of 2017, House Party has been winning awards since it first emerged on the adventure game scene. This sexually charged, 3D point-and-click adventure is all about player choice and partying the way you want. 

One big house, hundreds of choices, dozens of stories

Much like the hailed RPGS of yore, House Party contains intricate, branching narratives that drives our writing team to drink to excess. Every choice you make will have a reaction in your playthrough. Sometimes simple things can affect your party in the most magnificent of ways.

With thousands upon thousands of dialogues and a growing roster of over 13 characters, House Party’s gameplay starts with the conversations and grows with the decisions that are made along the way. With no true ending but dozens of ways to finish, the story is what you make it--and it’s got so much of that “just-one-more-run” replayability, House Party may as well be a rogue-lite. 

To date, there are over 25 story opportunities to discover and complete, each telling a part of one of the many fun-filled stories that can play out. There are literally dozens of them! 

Items and Interactions you won’t believe 

To contribute to those killer stories, Madison’s house is jam-packed with over 50 items to interact with and change the environment around you. Want to change the music of the party? Find the mp3 player! Wanna get shitfaced drunk? Well, hopefully you know what to find. That’s only the beginning--the items you’ll find in House Party get absolutely insane. 

And sometimes you don’t even need items to cause a ruckus. House Party is an adult game, and your character comes fully “equipped” to make some chaos all on their own.

NPCs (Not-Boring Party Comrades)

These stories and items, they’d be nothing without the various NPCs who make it all worthwhile. House Party features 15 of the most interesting, reactive, HILARIOUS NPCs you’ll find in any game with the name “House” in the title. These partygoers all have their own motivations and opinions, which makes each of their reactions to your choices different. 

You’ll be able to form friendships and relationships with these characters as you progress through the night, all of which is tracked by social gauges, just in case you’ve lost track of who’s digging your vibe and who’s only one wrong word away from knocking you the F%^# out. 

We’re not just talking about the fleshbags either! Sometimes characters are found where you least expect it, like a dude-bro AI or a shit-talking wall-mounted fish! With characters still being added, House Party will contain nearly 20 characters to be found around the party by the time we hit full release. 

Sex™

While nobody on our dev team has had it before, we’ve done tons of research online to find out what human sex looks like. 

Many of the stories in House Party will lead you into steamy encounters with the various party goers of the night. With an open-crotch policy to telling these stories, we’ve created sexual encounters that speak to many audiences instead of just the boring traditionalists. Lady love, guy love, you’ll find it all here! 

And none of that cut scene crap either. House Party features fully interactive intimate encounters with changeable positions. Because our thorough research has shown that laying like planks and moaning in each other’s face is only the beginning.

In addition, you can optionally take the control of your player during the tournament 3D matches. A little warning though: the management part will get a bit unbalanced from this, as some skills will be of lesser importance when you play all by yourself.

The match engine is based on the Tennis Elbow 2013 one, already acclaimed by many players as the most realistic tennis game, but with a new & improved physics for the ball, court, strikes & players !

The AI is also greatly improved, with new player strategies and more realistic behaviors.

Globally, this gives an advanced tennis simulation, more realist but also more demanding than TE2013, even more faithful to the real tennis spirit, which will give you a hard time to master.

GO EXPLORE WITH LIVE SAILING

With Live Sailing mode you explore the seas and ocean around the Shearwater islands while experiencing constantly changing weather patterns, from gentle breezes to the fiercest of storms. Before you weigh anchor listen to the forecasts on your VHF radio and set your sails accordingly (or reef them!). 

Your current position and boat set up is always saved so you can return to the same point and continue your journey. While live sailing you can collect ‘Points of Interest’ (POIs) and ultimately achieve ‘Master Explorer’ status if you visit them all!


CHALLENGE YOUR SAILING SKILLS

eSail includes numerous challenges: 

• eSail Races. Pit your skills against ‘computer skippered’ boats and become skilled at race tactics, tacking, gybing and trimming the sails including using the mainsheet, jib sheets and kicker (boom vang).
• Treasure hunts. It’s all about throttle control! You need to get close enough to click on your prize without drifting into the jetty or quay. And make sure you are not going too fast when you grab your treasure or it will end up smashed on the deck!
• Steering Challenges. Steer between the red and green buoys and keep your speed up for maximum points. But be careful of the other boats. They should observe collision regulations or ‘Rules of the Road’ but with your boat constantly changing direction they do not always behave as expected!
• Anchoring. In these challenges you will anchor up, then we check your swing circle by applying different wind directions. You need to take into account the condition of the sea bed and lay down enough anchor chain.
• Passage Planning. Using our unique charting tool, create a course between locations such as Maxwell Marina and Frazer Town via given waypoints. At the end of your voyage make sure you moor up safely (using your fenders) without making contact with the jetty!

• Sailing controls. Use your virtual crew to take full control of sails, control lines, winches and travellers. Practise your winch technique and learn how to operate cleats and jammers safely. You can also use AutoSail mode to make things a little easier when you are starting!
• Anchoring. Think about the weather and check the conditions of the sea bed - sand, weed or rocks? - before deciding how much chain to let out. Get it wrong and your anchor will drag!
• Mooring. Decide your best approach to the quay, step off the boat and secure your mooring lines. You can then opt to set up spring lines and even slip lines to help depart your mooring without embarrassment!
• Charting. To the best of our knowledge eSail is the only simulator with a charting module which represents paper based charts. Use tools like dividers, plotter and pencil to plot your course, while looking out for lights from buoys and lighthouses to check your position.
• The World of Shearwater. In our virtual world there are numerous places to visit within easy reach. Set in the mid Atlantic, the Shearwater Islands have been formed by volcanic activity and have changed hands many times. The Spanish, British, Americans and Italians have all left their mark – the latter building the folly known as Little Venice. This town has many buildings virtually identical to those found in the real Venice. The builders have thoughtfully created canals large enough to sail along with few bridges, so you can motor, sail and even race along the watery streets!
• Weather. eSail models areas of high and low pressure which then move across the islands creating an infinite variety of wind and waves patterns. The wind and waves are further modified by the land masses, creating areas of calm where you can find shelter from the worst storms and anchor safely!
