Nintendo 3DS is Best-Selling Hardware Platform in February

The one-two-three punch of New Nintendo 3DS XL, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate helped Nintendo 3DS become the top-selling hardware platform in the United States in February. All three products launched in the United States on Feb. 13, and even with only 17 days of data being reported they were able to accomplish the following:
  • In its 48th month on the market, the Nintendo 3DS family sold nearly 395,000 units in the U.S. The great majority of these sales were New Nintendo 3DS XL systems, which sold 130 percent more units in its initial frame than Nintendo 3DS XL did when it launched on Aug. 19, 2012.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D was the top-selling title for the month with more than 515,000 combined physical and digital units sold. The game is now the fastest-selling Legend of Zelda hand-held title in U.S. history.
  • Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sold more than 290,000 combined physical and digital units and is now the fastest-selling Monster Hunter title – across all platforms – in U.S. history. In addition, the game has the highest Metascore of any Monster Hunter title and is also Capcom’s fastest-selling title on the Nintendo 3DS platform in U.S. history.
  • Through the first two months of 2015, sales of Nintendo 3DS hardware have increased by more than 90 percent over sales in the same period in 2014.
Nintendo also saw strong results for Wii U, which had its best year ever in 2014 and has continued to build on that momentum in 2015. Specific achievements include:
  • So far in 2015, sales of Wii U hardware have increased by more than 20 percent over sales in the same period in 2014.
  • Life-to-date sales of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and amiibo have surpassed 1.5 million total units and 3.5 million figures, respectively, an attach rate of nearly 2.5 amiibo figures per game unit sold.

Mario Party 10 + Mario amiibo bundle (Wii U, March 20)
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (Nintendo 3DS, April 10)
Splatoon (Wii U, May)

The momentum for Nintendo software and systems should continue over the next few months thanks to a strong lineup of software that includes Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. (Nintendo 3DS, March 13)

Enhanced Control Options and amiibo Support on New Nintendo 3DS XL
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Developed by Intelligent Systems, the creators of the beloved Fire Emblem and Advance Wars series, the single- and multiplayer turn-based strategy game Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. launches for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems on March 13. The game places players on the front lines of a series of intricately designed battlefields and requires them to use both brains and brawn to emerge from battle victorious. Players are thrust into the boots of some of the most original and unexpected playable characters ever assembled in a Nintendo video game. These agents of S.T.E.A.M. (Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace) are composed of literature- and folklore-inspired icons like John Henry, Tiger Lily, Tom Sawyer, Lion from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and many more – all led by Abraham Lincoln. Players who dive into the action on New Nintendo 3DS XL can even take advantage of the new system’s enhanced controls and creative amiibo functionality.

“Fresh on the heels of the launch of New Nintendo 3DS XL,Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. comes whistling in to give portable players a patriotic punch of action-strategy,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “For players who may be wrapping up The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, or just looking for their next hand-held gaming experience, this refreshingly unique game is just what Honest Abe ordered.”
Steam is a critical component of the game play. Each selectable agent in the game has a boiler on his or her back that generates a certain amount of steam every turn, allowing the player to move and fire at enemies. This simple and intuitive concept leads to many deep and strategic game-play choices. Moving forward across the battlefield uses steam, but players can also explore and then backtrack with no loss of steam, letting players scope out the surroundings and uncover hidden enemies. To add to the strategy and uniqueness of the steam mechanic, players that leave steam in their reserves after a turn can potentially attack during the enemy’s turn by using “Overwatch.” These Overwatch attacks can be performed by equipping specific weapons.
Before beginning each mission, players select a four-member team composed of the game’s many playable characters. As players progress through the wild story, more and more surprising characters will join the strike force, each with his or her own unique primary weapon and ability. Because of the multitude of characters and the vast, well-designed maps, players can approach each stage using different techniques. Players might want to keep their characters together and deploy a full-on attack, or split them up and sneak around corners to scope out the surroundings and take the enemy on with a more stealth-like approach.
In addition to each character’s main weapon, the eclectic agents also possess various secondary weapons and boiler packs that can be equipped before each mission. Want to outfit the powerful John Henry with a secondary weapon that provides him with an Overwatch attack option like the Steam Crossbow? No problem! The deep customization options add a whole new layer of strategy to the game, and encourage playing and replaying the game’s numerous missions in new ways.
The game also offers three different multiplayer modes that pit player against player in exciting local battle modes, or online with a wireless broadband Internet connection. In Death Match, players try to defeat all the enemies on the opposing team to win. Medal Battle asks competitors to earn the most medals after five turns. And in the epic A.B.E. Battle, players pilot massive presidential mechanical robots and battle to victory. Players can even join online tournaments or create their own!
Anyone who plays Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. on a New Nintendo 3DS XL system can experience some additional fun features. In addition to controlling the camera with the C-Stick and basking in the game’s striking graphics using face-tracking 3D, Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. is one of the first Nintendo 3DS games to feature amiibo compatibility using the built-in NFC technology on New Nintendo 3DS XL. If a Fire Emblem amiibo character like Marth or Ike is tapped on the touch screen of the New Nintendo 3DS XL system, he will join the battle as a playable character in the game. But just like in theFire Emblem games, if these amiibo characters fall in battle, they are gone permanently – well, at least until players tap them in again at the start of the next mission.
Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. boils over for Nintendo 3DS on March 13 at a suggested retail price of $39.99.

ISP's should be scared
There have been ISP's like AT&T and Comcast doing... and continuing to do things that absolutely stink. The fight continues after our victorious win for net neutrality (that totally wiped the gengar-style smile right off of their faces), because... greed just refuses to fold. Wait... I think I hear John Boehner crying... hmmm, meh... who the hell care.
The business they receive, obviously isn't enough for them to appreciate... but what really puts a smile on my face is that competition is scaring companies like AT&T. They tried to stop a city from even setting up a fiber optic infrastructure for faster connections, but it didn't appear to work... and its just amazing how they were so comfortable crapping out excuses about how the current speeds were enough until someone else turned up the heat.
You don't deprive people of better... if you have the ability to provide better. Money to set things up was likely not going to be a factor in that either... because plenty of companies have ways of getting grants and funding through taxes (only to turn around and charge you heavily).
It's no mystery to some... but if you had the option to choose between Google Fiber & AT&T Gigapower, you might want to do your research on both. We wouldn't tell you to go with one over the other... because your money is yours to do with what you please, but AT&T charges more if you wish to have more privacy ($29 more). Maybe that's the compensation for them to not sell off your data, but that's a topic for another day... and they wouldn't be the only ones involved because other companies like Lenovo are in the same boat (catching a whole lotta... complaints about those... SuperFish). If a company can't be trusted, they don't deserve a penny.

Street Fighter V: Standard Edition?... (Sigh) + From the Source: Nintendo + PAX East 2015 + Net Neutrality... victory!

Street Fighter V: Standard Edition? If I made games, I wouldn't have... standard or any of that crap in my games, extra would just be extra to build on to an already great game (after the fact that it has been completed).

I don't know if Capcom will end up being burned by something like this... after the previous round of fighting games resulted in a what felt like nothing more than a senseless money grab, but we shall see. What may end up happening is... some of the audience may just end up waiting until the best version is released with nothing else to buy (at an additional charge). It will probably be a full game for a full price... but with this version, they should really have a progressive story... not just a character fighting other fighters to get to a boss and... then the story ends there basically saying... "Hey thanks for playing, lets do it again in the next installment that will look better... with the exact same formula". I'd like to feel the story go somewhere other than... that, especially with RYU, because the same approach gets tiresome and you aren't missing anything if you skip a version. Street Fighter Alpha 3 was something special, there was a lot to it... and that was the first time I was ever able to enjoy a fighting game with actual co-op action.

I don't like to assume what a game is... but I will say that Street Fighter V looks like... Street Fighter 4 with updated visuals. Does that make it bad? Hell no, we just hope that it... proves to be a true successor to Street Fighter 4. Charlie Nash is a nice teaser... and a character that plenty will welcome back, and I hope that the slogan "Rise Up" is truly something that is seen in the game. A ranking system in the actual story would help with the progressive feel, I don't want to fight rivals over and over... I want there to be surprises based on where I am in my skill level, and they have the ability to make that happen with such a huge money making franchise.

Attendees Can Get Hands-On Time with Upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS Games
PAX East 2015
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Nintendo will be in Boston, Massachusetts, for the upcoming PAX East event to give attendees hands-on time with the New Nintendo 3DS XL system and a variety of great games. The Nintendo booth (#4072) will also feature Splatoon, Nintendo’s upcoming colorful twist on the shooter genre, at the show. The E3 2014 build of the game lets eight players transform into squids and mark their territory in teams in a race for splattered-paint dominance. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., which launches for Nintendo 3DS on March 13, will also be playable and featured in stage presentations at the Nintendo booth. PAX East, which runs March 6-8, takes place at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center at 415 Summer St.
“We love giving our fans an opportunity to check out our latest products at PAX events,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The newly released New Nintendo 3DS XL is sure to be popular with the many show-goers looking for StreetPass tags, and Splatoon will let attendees get their first hands-on experience with one of the year’s most creative games.”
Upcoming or newly released Nintendo 3DS games scheduled to be playable on New Nintendo 3DS XL hardware at the Nintendo booth include Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., Monster Hunter 4 UltimateThe Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D and the New Nintendo 3DS XL exclusive, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. Nintendo also invites attendees to bring their trained-up amiibo figures to the show to take on other players’ amiibo in the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS game. Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition for Nintendo 3DS is scheduled to make an appearance at the Nintendo booth as well. The developer, GungHo Online Entertainment, will also have its own booth at PAX (#8092), where attendees can try Puzzle & Dragons Z and Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition for Nintendo 3DS.

Be happy about this victory, and check out the email sent from MoveOn.org below. We are still on guard, because greed has a way of being... a stubborn little bastard about getting its way over something that affects more people than itself. Nintendo-Demand looks at these pricks and responds with "That's a personal problem"... but that doesn't mean we can just sit back and relax knowing that they will stop at nothing to increase their wealth at the cost of affecting the masses, and neither should you. You don't have to be in a constant battle mode, but don't sit back and relax because of one victory... that's a very easy way to go from winning a battle to losing the overall war.
Use this victory as motivation though. BFG feels that many people should use this as a prime example that anything can be done by the people... for the benefit of the people, and it's something that should be done to tackle other serious issues that may not affect everyone but it affects enough to matter to people with compassion.
BFG also brings up a good point... based on a past post, because Net Neutrality can still be affected on the other side of things by people that support it to do crap like hacking, and other things like plotting to hurt people because of what they believe in, their sexual preference, etc. It doesn't have to be like that though... because Net Neutrality doesn't x out laws against illegal activity, the people in the middle of both of these extremes (between Control & Etc) have to beware of both to truly keep things moving upward versus down at a right or left slope that benefits one of the bad extremes. Thumbs up Mr. President Obama from standing behind this, because a business gaining money... cannot, and should NEVER EVER (x Infinity) be the thing that overrides something that benefits the masses.
MoveOn.org:
This card is for you, too—the MoveOn community that for a decade has fought for common sense and equality on the Internet.
So here's what just happened: In a party-line vote, the FCC voted to use the simplest, clearest, most legally sound tool to preserve Net Neutrality. It's called Title II, and it allows the FCC to treat the Internet like a public utility, protecting it for all users.
Experts have long agreed that Title II reclassification is the commonsense way to go, but the extreme opposition of the wealthy telecom industry—who hoped to profit from charging for fast lanes—made the clear solution seem politically impossible to many even a year ago.
But grassroots leaders raised their voices for the commonsense solution and built a movement that brought together millions of Americans of all political stripes and proved too powerful for even the seemingly all-powerful telecom lobby.

Parents... parents... need someone to tell you how to raise your kids? If not, why blame game developers when your kids play violent games? Not all are violent after all, but ignorance generalizes a lot more often than some of you care to realize. (I'm sounding like a regular therapist over here, BFG.) :p I talked to a guy recently who mentioned kids play violent video games... and that came through a topic of kids acting out in school and stuff... like some kids weren't acting like brats before video games ever came along. Poor parenting... existed waaaayyyyy before video games, but its another opportunity to blame something else. BFG wraps it up with great points soooo... check out this episode of Nintendo-Demand's Yadda Yadda!

A game that we've looked forward to for quite sometime... was finally revealed and might (might) hit store shelves later this year. What is it? Just Cause 3! Little Bear told me that he never played any of the games before, and if you haven't and you love open world games with lots of action... this is one of those games that is sort of a cross between GTA & Saints Row, but it stands on its own because it's a lot more action oriented (trust me) and might I add that Just Cause 2 has a huge world to roam and go complete ape squat. Check out... Just Cause and (especially) Just Cause 2, because its just that... awesome and is one of those games I feel every fan of action/open world games should check out. It will be released on PC | Steam | PS4 | XB1

Nintendo... don't fix a good thing + From the source: Nintendo X Sega... I've got RANTS in my pants!

It's Friday... the week flew by like someone trying to cross the finish line before the blue shell comes crashing down, but another episode of Nintendo-Demand is here just before the love birds out there... put the gameplay on hold (or rev it up together). Before I got... Flipnote Studio 3D is now available at Club Nintendo, Enjoy!

Nintendo... sometime's you fix what isn't broken! (New Nintendo 3DS)

First off... some people interested in the New Nintendo 3DS won't have existing 3DS hardware to use a plug for the new one. Even if the price of the NN3DS were $10 more... a plug is needed to avoid it being an annoying situation (similar to the annoyance with the PS Vita and required purchase of the memory cards). If something is essential... don't leave a customer hanging (ever!).

Also... to switch memory card sizes, blows (seriously Nintendo). You aren't thinking of the gamers out there that are lucky enough to simply get the New Nintendo 3DS... and you switch up the memory cards? You decrease the ease to migrate from one system to the next with the same memory cards, and... lets not forget about where the freaking memory card slot is located.

Couldn't make it easy huh?
You made the ease of swapping out cards on the fly... a process that requires a screwdriver, and that's screwed up for the people that can't afford to get the ones that hold more data (imagine swapping those things out and wishing that the bottom casing of the New 3DS was more of a snap plate). The customer has to be kept in mind... in all aspects.

Save the World from a Terrible Fate in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D

Play on the New Nintendo 3DS XL System to Experience Enhanced Features
REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- “Dawn of the First Day. 72 Hours Remain.” With these iconic words, Link begins his suspenseful three-day journey to save the world from a crashing moon in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D game, launching the same day as the New Nintendo 3DS XL system on Feb. 13The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is a remastered and enhanced version of the classic that’s unlike any other adventure in The Legend of Zelda series, and New Nintendo 3DS XL offers the smoothest and most engrossing portable gaming experience possible.

While the game is playable on any Nintendo 3DS family system, players that pick up New Nintendo 3DS XL can experience The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D with added features, like the ability to control the camera with the C Stick and experiencing the game’s remastered and detailed graphics using the new face-tracking 3D technology built into the new system. Playing The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D on New Nintendo 3DS XL is the best way to experience this memorable adventure.
“There’s a reason The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is consistently mentioned as a favorite entry in TheLegend of Zelda series by many,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “With the launch of this new enhanced version and New Nintendo 3DS XL on the same day, a whole new generation of fans can experience the fantastic adventure for the first time on an equally fantastic portable system.”
In The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, Link has three days to save the world of Termina from the apocalypse. He must race against the clock and manipulate time itself to solve puzzles, collect treasure and battle bosses … all within 72 suspenseful in-game hours. Players have the ability to slow down, speed up and restart the clock as needed through songs performed on Link’s ocarina.
As the clock counts down and the moon ominously hovering above gets closer and closer, Link will become intimately familiar with the world around him and the lives of the doomed denizens of Termina. Characters in the game have their own lives – lives that will end in three days once the moon comes crashing down. As Link meets these fascinating characters, he can help them in various ways. He might reunite loves torn apart by evil, or teach troubled twin dancers a new routine for the Carnival of Time. He may even assist a little ranch girl by preventing alien invaders from stealing cows! Many quests in the game can only be completed at a specific in-game time, so players must be diligent in tracking what needs to be done, who needs to be helped and what time it all needs to be accomplished.
Luckily, all of this pre-apocalyptic activity can be tracked in one of the game’s most important items: The Bombers’ Notebook. In The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D, this vital item has been improved to work with the touch screen. In addition to an overhauled design focusing on ease of use, players can now set alarms that will remind them of an event, as well as organize tasks to see what Link has already completed and what he still has to do.
To help him complete his quests, Link will discover and equip more than 20 unique masks throughout the game. Some of these masks can be worn to improve Link’s abilities, like the Bunny Hood that allows him to run faster or the Great Fairy’s Mask that attracts stray Fairies hidden around Termina. Some masks get characters to divulge new information, while others, like the Deku, Goron and Zora masks, transform Link into an entirely new creature! The masks add strategy and variety to the game play, and are great for players that love collecting items and discovering hidden secrets.

Nintendo... Zelda... Netflix (ummmm)

We aren't going to get into the talk about whether Zelda will actually be available for our viewing pleasure on Netflix or not... but if it is... I hope it is something Shigeru Miyamoto, Takashi Tezuka and Eiji Aonuma can be proud of. I don't see Nintendo allowing such a project to be fumbled... but I hope that these guys have their hands in it and it feels extremely authentic.

3D FANTASY ZONE: OPA-OPA BROS. TOUCHES DOWN TODAY FOR NINTENDO 3DS

SEGA announced today that 3D Fantasy Zone: Opa-Opa Bros.™, part of the second series of classic titles re-mastered exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system, is now available in the Americas and Europe to download in the Nintendo eShop.

3D Fantasy Zone: Opa-Opa Bros. is the popular side-scrolling shooter, first released for the SEGA System-16 board in 1986, in which players control a sentient spaceship named Opa-Opa to fight bizarre invader enemies. The re-mastered version combines stereoscopic 3D visuals with a host of additional features to deliver cutting edge gameplay with a classic feel. 3D Fantasy Zone: Opa-Opa Bros. also introduces a new feature called the “coin stock” system that allows players to accumulate coins for use across play sessions and to unlock in-game abilities. Furthermore, the game features an unlockable mode in which players are able to play as Upa-Upa, the little brother of Opa-Opa, upon completion of the game.

3D Fantasy Zone: Opa-Opa Bros. is available now for download in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS.

Sega, honestly... you have enough resources to release a new 2D game or a remake of a classic. Is it too much to ask from a larger 3rd party game developer that's still showing Nintendo love? It doesn't have to be huge games, but it would be good to see more from Sega on the eShop side that goes beyond just classics.

- How's about a NEW Toe Jam & Earl game w/ online multiplayer?

- How's about a NEW Shining Force game for the 3DS?

- How's about... doing a freaking kickstarter for a Shenmue remake and make it digital-only (with a collectors editions on disc with a Ryo Hazuki figure and artbook)? Excuses aren't good enough if details can be poured into other games (the budget doesn't have to be outrageous, and there are fans remaking games that deserve to have jobs based on their talent and dedication to remake game out o. I'm not coming down on the Opa-Opa Bros. game (just so we're clear)... but it would be good to see more.

Gaming MADNESS... Club Nintendo goes out with a big bob-omb! (Ka-BOOM!)

It's here... and the maintenance you saw yesterday was for a darnnnnn good reason. Want to know what's available in the departing Club Nintendo rewards area(?)... look below!

I wish they kept these options in the Club Nintendo store and added to the list, because... I envision a lot of coins being cashed out for awesome games, that were ultimately spoon fed for a limited time. Its great, its a freaking free-for-all... that's bitter sweet at the same time. I just hope that what's to come makes sense... but there are some things that I appreciate about it (1 major one being that we didn't have to have rewards, but I'm glad they were here). Oh yeah... don't forget Flipnote Studio 3D!

Nintendo... your community is your business and I hope that you continue to increase the eventful experiences that don't require huge budgets, just creativity and packed with a challenging bite.

(Here's the list for Wii U... 3DS... & Wii, I hope you have coins!)
