Xbox Games Showcase 2025 Ignites the Summer of Gaming

Welcome to the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 Recap! If you missed the event, don’t worry... we’ve got you covered like a tarp with the unexpected surprises, and enough gaming goodness to keep your button mashers busy for quite some time. Grab something delicious to eat and press play!

 The Big Reveals

Microsoft threw a knockout punch to close out the first part of the showcase with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, delivering mind-bending action, near-future weaponry, and a reality-shifting co-op campaign. I saw the robot and thought, “COD?”... but the trailer blurred the line between horror, sci-fi, and military ops so well, it kept me guessing till the logo hit.

But that wasn’t the only jaw-dropper... Persona 4 Revival finally got its long-awaited remake announcement, bringing back the beloved characters and turn-based combat wrapped in a modern visual overhaul. Meanwhile, Beast of Reincarnation made its grand debut, blending dark fantasy lore with action-RPG gameplay that looks both punishing and poetic.

The Outer Worlds 2 returned with that trademark satirical flair, showcasing more wild planets and corporate chaos, but the ones that really grabbed me were High on Life 2... doubling down on its outrageous humor and living weaponry... and Animo, a creature-collection RPG that feels more alive and dynamic than many of its Pokémon-inspired peers.

Then came the hardware mic drop: the reveal of the long-anticipated Xbox Ally handheld. We didn’t expect them to team up with a third-party like ASUS, but to be fair, ASUS isn’t new to premium gaming hardware. Their role as both manufacturer and design partner works—even if I’m still on the fence about the look. It leans more ASUS than Xbox in vibe, but hey, if it performs and plays Xbox games natively, I’ll deal. Set to launch in 2025, we’re still waiting on an official price, though the assumed range is $599–$699 for the base ROG Xbox Ally, and $899–$999 for the beefed-up ROG Xbox Ally X. It runs Windows 11, so multiple game platforms should be playable on the handheld (and they better be... based on the price).

ROG Xbox Ally X (High-End Model)

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme (8-core/16-thread, 16 GPU cores, with NPU for AI tasks)

  • RAM: 24GB LPDDR5X-8000

  • Storage: 1TB M.2 2280 SSD

  • Battery: 80Wh

  • Display: 7" FHD 1080p IPS, 120Hz, 500 nits, FreeSync Premium with Gorilla Glass Victus, 16:9 Ratio, DXC Anti-Reflection

  • Extras: USB4, impulse triggers, Xbox full-screen UI

ROG Xbox Ally (Base Model)

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen Z2 A (4-core/8-thread, 8 GPU cores)

  • RAM: 16GB LPDDR5X-6400

  • Storage: 512GB M.2 2280 SSD

  • Battery: 60Wh

  • Display: Same as Ally X

  • Extras: Dual USB-C, hall effect triggers

 Additional Eye Catchers

  • Grounded 2 is back this July, and the backyard survival madness is even more intense—this time with new enemies, biomes, and crafting systems.

  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (DLC) drops in September, extending the base game's archaeological adventures with fresh puzzles and pulpy cinematic moments.

  • Ninja Gaiden 4 slices into October with brutally fast hack-and-slash gameplay and that familiar difficulty curve that fans love (and fear).

  • Super Meat Boy 3D flips the series into a whole new dimension—literally. Expect twitch-platforming and gory charm in high-res style.

And let’s not forget Gears of War: Reloaded, a true stunner with 4K visuals at 120 FPS, full cross-play, and cross-progression. It’s both a love letter to the franchise and a flex on what next-gen nostalgia can look like.

Of course, a couple more stood out in a big way:

  • The Blood of Dawnwalker, a dark RPG where you play as a vampire-human hybrid during the Black Plague... it’s full of eerie atmosphere, political intrigue, and moral dilemmas.

  • And Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, a fresh prequel to the original saga that leans into myth, stealth, and combat, all set on the haunting Minotaur’s Island.

 No Xbox? No Problem!

If you love what you see and want to dive into the action but don’t own an Xbox or a PC, no worries! You can grab an Xbox Bundle for just $108.98 here. It’s a steal, especially if you’re planning to go all-in on the GamePass action.

Xbox didn’t just show up—they did their thing. Whether you’re hyped for the next big shooter, a nostalgic remake, or Xbox's entry into the handheld arena, 2025's Summer of Gaming is burning up.

Blades of Fire: A Brutal Souls-Like Adventure That Will Test Your Limits

A Challenge Worth Every Swing

If you crave unforgiving action RPGs that push your skills to the limit, Blades of Fire is here to deliver. Developed by MercurySteam and published by 505 Games, this Souls-like adventure throws you into a world where survival depends on precision, strategy, and sheer determination.

From the moment you step into the cursed lands of Queen Nerea, you’ll realize that Blades of Fire isn’t just another action RPG—it’s a trial by combat. Every enemy encounter is a test of endurance, every boss battle a lesson in patience and skill.

Boss Battles That Will Break You (And Rebuild You)

The boss fights in Blades of Fire are nothing short of legendary. Each one is a multi-phase spectacle, demanding perfect timing, adaptability, and mastery of weapon forging. Whether you’re facing the Titan of Ash, whose molten blade can shatter your defenses, or the Wraith Queen, who warps reality itself, every battle is a dance with death.

Even the Bronze Mode, which is supposed to be the “easy” setting, doesn’t hold back. You’ll need to study attack patterns, manage stamina, and forge weapons that exploit enemy weaknesses—or prepare to be sent back to the nearest anvil checkpoint.

A Visual & Audio Feast

MercurySteam has crafted a visually stunning world, blending dark fantasy aesthetics with hyper-detailed environments. The lighting effects, particle physics, and character animations make every battle feel cinematic.

But the audio design? That’s where Blades of Fire truly shines. The soundtrack is a masterpiece, delivering orchestral intensity that fuels every fight. The sound effects are so immersive that you might find yourself checking the floor for bugs—because yes, the buzzing sound of an in-game insect might just trick your brain into thinking it’s real. (And no, we won’t judge if you screamed.)

Storytelling That Keeps You Hooked

Beyond the brutal combat, Blades of Fire weaves a compelling narrative. You play as Aran de Lira, a warrior gifted with a sacred hammer that allows him to forge weapons capable of resisting Queen Nerea’s curse. Alongside Adso de Zelk, a scholar documenting your journey, you’ll uncover ancient secrets, lost knowledge, and the true origins of the Forgers—the mysterious race that once shaped the world.

If you’re looking for a game that doesn’t hold your hand, Blades of Fire is your next obsession. The combat is punishing, the boss fights are exhilarating, and the world is rich with lore and atmosphere.

So, grab your best headphones, crank up the surround sound, and prepare for battle. Just don’t forget to check the floor for buzzing insects—because Blades of Fire is so immersive, it might just mess with your reality.

🔥 Game on... warriors. Watch out for Trolls! 🔥

The gaming world is buzzing, and Summer Game Fest 2025 has just delivered a stacked lineup of reveals, updates, and surprises! Hosted by that video game show host guy... Geoff Keighley, this year’s event was a perfect blend of AAA blockbusters, indie gems, and unexpected announcements... giving you even more reasons to gear up for 2026. The games continue to pour in... how big is your wish list so far?!

If PlayStation’s State of Play left you wanting more, SGF 2025 has you covered with multiplatform action to heat up the summer gaming season even further. Grab your popcorn, and let’s dive in!

 The Biggest Reveals & Updates

Resident Evil 9: Requiem

Capcom is back with another terrifying entry in the Resident Evil franchise. Requiem promises a cinematic high-stakes experience, shifting the series in a bold new direction. While familiar faces remain, the game introduces new characters to expand the lore. Expect intense survival horror, next-gen visuals, and fresh gameplay mechanics when it launches on February 27, 2026. I love it... because the world of Resident Evil is bigger than the same set of characters, so why not explore it even further? Technically, there is still a character tie in (Leon S. Kennedy may also play a major role in the game), but... as for the main character seen in the trailer, she's an Ashcroft. If you're scratching your head, let me clarify. The main character is Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa Ashcrosft from Resident Evil Outbreak.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

The legendary samurai action series returns, and it looks stunning. Way of the Sword brings back the brutal combat fans love, with enhanced swordplay mechanics and a gripping narrative. If you’ve been craving a true samurai experience, this one’s for you.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Sega is revving up the competition with Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, a multiplatform kart racer featuring full crossplay support. The game boasts guest racers like Minecraft’s Steve, Persona 5’s Joker, and Hatsune Miku, adding wild variety to the roster. With fast-paced action, dynamic tracks, and competitive multiplayer, this could be Sega’s biggest shot at reclaiming the kart-racing throne.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

Code Vein 2

Bandai Namco heard the fans loud and clear—Code Vein 2 is officially happening! The anime-inspired soulslike returns with expanded combat mechanics, deeper RPG elements, and a darker, more immersive world. Expect new weapons, enhanced co-op, and a gripping story when it launches in 2026.

Dying Light: The Beast

Techland is taking Dying Light to the next level with The Beast, a standalone horror survival experience. Kyle Crane is back, and this time, the stakes are higher than ever. Expect brutal parkour combat, terrifying new enemies, and a gripping narrative when it drops on August 22, 2025.

Marvel’s Deadpool VR

Ever wanted to step into Deadpool’s shoes? Now you can! Marvel’s Deadpool VR promises chaotic action, fourth-wall-breaking humor, and immersive combat in a fully interactive VR experience. Whether you’re slicing enemies or cracking jokes, this game is shaping up to be one of the most unique Marvel titles yet.

Mortal Shell 2

The Soulslike genre continues to thrive, and Mortal Shell 2 is bringing gritty, unforgiving combat to the forefront. With expanded weapon customization, free exploration, and a haunting world, this sequel is bigger, darker, and more intense than ever. 2026 can’t come soon enough.

 More Surprises from SGF 2025

Beyond other major reveals, SGF 2025 also showcased a variety of exciting titles, including:

  • Game of Thrones: War for Westeros – A real-time strategy game where players command iconic houses and battle for the Seven Kingdoms.
  • Atomic Heart 2 – The retro-futuristic shooter returns with deeper RPG mechanics and a more immersive world.
  • Lies of P: Overture – A prequel expansion to the soulslike hit, available now.
  • Chronicles: Medieval – A large-scale RTS featuring knights, burning villages, and epic battles, narrated by Tom Hardy. Speaking of Chronicles: Medieval,  avoid  going to chroniclesmedieval.com at this time because it forwards to a questionable site that will have you backtracking in hopes that your system didn't pick up a virus. We've reached out to the RPG team to give them the heads up. We don't believe it's their website, but a heads up doesn't hurt.

PlayStation State of Play 2025 Recap – A Summer of Gaming Spectacle

Welcome to the Future of PlayStation Gaming!

Playstation State of Play 2025 Recap

Summer is heating up (baby), and PlayStation’s State of Play 2025 has just delivered a massive wave of reveals, updates, and surprises! Whether you’re a die-hard PlayStation fan or just love gaming in general, this year’s showcase is packed with big hits, sleeper gems, and unexpected delights.

Sit back, grab your favorite gaming snack, and enjoy the State of Play 2025 presentation:

The Biggest Reveals & Titles Worth a Second Look!

Sony pulled out all the stops this year, bringing over 40 minutes of jaw-dropping announcements. Here are some of the highlights (for me at least):

My Two Top Picks & Must-Play Titles

🕵️ 007 First Light – IO Interactive’s James Bond origin story finally gets its first trailer, showcasing stealth, action, and espionage. This makes the top of my list as a fan of IOI, who managed to keep their studio alive as an indie developer instead of closing their doors. Now, we’re here with 007 First Light, which looks like a kickass action-adventure that takes us back to Bond’s early days. Who better to make a game like this than the creators of... Hitman? And IOI goes hard on replay value, so I can’t wait!

🔥 Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls – This one had me the most hyped. Fighting game fans who only have an Xbox or Nintendo might shed a tear over this PlayStation and PC exclusive. And boy, does it look badass.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls

Yes... Street Fighter 6 is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 (NS2), but I wish Capcom had considered releasing Tatsunoko vs Capcom 2 or a remake on the NS2. It would’ve made sense, especially since the original game is such a gem on the Wii.

PlayStation was wise to reach out to Marvel to make this beautiful-looking fighter happen. I don’t know how the game will feel in my hands, but it’s in fantastic hands with Arc System Works. That anime flair takes this to a new level while still holding onto the comic book style that screams Marvel at its core.

4v4 battles? This should be some seriously over-the-top action, and I might have to get my thumbs ready for all this awesomeness.

🎮 Nioh 3 – Team Ninja returns with another brutal action RPG, set to release in early 2026, with a demo available now.

🔥 Silent Hill f – The next entry in the legendary horror franchise arrives September 25, 2025, bringing a terrifying new story set in Japan.

Silenty Hill f

🦇 Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow – The legendary stealth-action franchise returns in VR, offering an immersive experience for PSVR2 players.

🌊 Cairn – A survival-climbing adventure that challenges players to scale treacherous mountains, releasing November 5, 2025.

👾 Digimon Story: Time Stranger – A new Digimon RPG that blends turn-based combat and monster raising, launching October 3, 2025.

🔥 Pragmata – Capcom’s long-awaited sci-fi action game finally returns with a new trailer and a 2026 release window.

🌊 Tides of Tomorrow – A narrative-driven adventure where player choices shape the world, featuring stunning aquatic environments.

⚔️ Ghost of Yotei – The follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima, bringing new samurai action and a gripping story, launching October 2, 2025.

🌊 Sea of Remnants – A mystery-driven free-to-play exploration game set in a post-apocalyptic ocean world, blending survival and storytelling.

Sea of Remnants
Enjoy the... "Yo Ho!" song from... Sea of Remnants, now while check out the rest of the post!

Titles That Deserve a Second Look

Beyond the blockbusters, PlayStation’s State of Play 2025 also introduced titles that deserve a second look. These are the games that might end up in the shadow of bigger releases, but spotlights decrease the chance of that happening:

🔥 FBC: Firebreak – A fast-paced tactical shooter with destructible environments and intense firefights.

💀 Romeo is a Dead Man – From the crazy cool psycho developer SUDA51, this ultra-violent sci-fi action game is set to release in 2026.

😂 Baby Steps – This game is weird but in a cool, comical way. It almost feels like an Adult Swim original, with hilariously awkward movement mechanics.

⚔️ Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound – This totally gave me the feeling of seeing Ninja Gaiden in the arcade back in the day, but the visuals and action look even better. It looks like it would be extremely challenging, but for those who want fast-paced action that pushes their ability to progress, this could be the one.

🎮 Project Defiant: Wireless Fight Stick – The codename for PlayStation’s first official fight stick, and it’s a beauty. Not sure about the price, but PlayStation fans who constantly take on the competition in fighting games might feel conflicted when choosing between this and other fight sticks—unless they prefer to modify

Stay Tuned for More Gaming Action!
