NetEase Games and Everstone Studio have revealed Hutuo, a new major region for Where Winds Meet arriving November 13. The update moves the Wuxia action RPG into a war-scarred frontier, where its latest story asks what it means to uphold Xia—the martial code of justice and guardianship—when those in power fail.
Hutuo’s story reaches a turning point at Zhongdu Bridge, where northern invaders push across shattered borders and players stand between displaced civilians and an advancing army. The region’s environmental storytelling follows soldiers who defy brutal orders and ordinary people who shelter refugees as the conflict spreads through the Jianghu.
The update also adds the Hutuo River Campaign, where players face Xiao Han, a Khitan general protected by Blood-forged Super Armor. Two new world bosses tied to the region’s history—Bingshen at Moonveil Knoll and the Khitan shaman Yelu Abuli—will also be waiting across the open world.
New Martial Art and Board Game Modes
Dual Spears, choreographed under the guidance of action director Yuen Woo-ping, is scheduled to arrive in late November. Players can switch between Light Spears for sustained offense and Heavy Spears for stance-breaking counterattacks.
Hutuo also introduces two tabletop modes. Horse Racing Chess turns players into pieces on a race board, while Jianghu Tactics focuses on building a lineup through positioning, gear choices and round-by-round combinations.
Anniversary Preview Stream Arrives November 2
The November 13 update coincides with Where Winds Meet’s first global anniversary. NetEase says the celebration will include the game’s most generous in-game rewards since launch. Players can get an early look at Hutuo and the anniversary plans during a special preview stream on November 2 (UTC).
