PAWTUCKET, RI – April 3, 2023 – C-H-A-M-P-I-O-N-S. After two days of heated play, champions were crowned at the annual North America School SCRABBLE Championship! In the high school division, Li of Bloor Collegiate Institute came in first place with a final score of 408-348, capping off an undefeated tournament to become the first female to win the high-school division of the North American School Scrabble Championship, and just the second female to win a division since the event began in 2003. Some of the championship-winning words included GUINEAS (a formerly used British coin), ATELIER (a workshop or studio) and HARTS (adult male deer).
