Baldur’s Gate 3: First Look at Maggie Robertson’s Third Villain, Orin the Red

First Look: Maggie Robertson as Baldur’s Gate 3’s “Affectionately Unhinged” Orin the Red

DUBLIN  July 27, 2023 – With the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3 just around the corner, Larian Studios has released a new video introducing the RPG’s third and final central antagonist: Orin the Red. A practitioner in the art of inflicting pain and a grandmaster of murder, Orin has killed for many years but has yet to be caught, thanks in part to her shapeshifting abilities, which enable her to take the form of anyone – perhaps even someone in your camp…

Orin the Red is voiced by the incredible Maggie Robertson, known to many as the voice of Lady Dimitrescu (Resident Evil Village) and Skjóthendi the Unerring (God of War Ragnarök).

“Orin is, affectionately, unhinged,” said Robertson. “You don’t know when she’s going to pop up, you don’t know in what form she’s going to be, she’s incredibly tricksy.”

As Orin, Maggie Robertson joins General Ketheric Thorm (J.K. Simmons) and Lord Enver Gortash (Jason Isaacs) to complete the “unholy triumvirate” of villains in Baldur’s Gate 3.

“To be considered even in the same realm, much less share scenes with J.K. Simmons and Jason Isaacs… was such an honor, and it was so inspiring and exciting to see their work in this game and experience how our characters come together in the scenes we share to create this unholy, evil triumvirate,” said Robertson.

Baldur’s Gate 3 releases August 3 on PC and September 6 on PlayStation 5. See the attached map for release timing per region on PC.

FTS: "Baldur's Gate 3" Launches Aug. 31 on PS5 & PC ft. the Voice of J.K. Simmons

Baldur’s Gate 3 Releases for PlayStation 5 & PC on August 31, 2023

New gameplay trailer gives players first glimpse at General Ketheric Thorm, played by J.K. Simmons, alongside split-screen co-op and controller support

DUBLIN  Feb. 23, 2023 – At today's State of Play Event held by Sony, Larian Studios announced via a new gameplay trailer that Baldur’s Gate 3 will ship on PlayStation 5, PC and Mac on Aug. 31, 2023.

Larian’s latest Baldur’s Gate 3 trailer gave players their first glimpse at one of the next-gen RPG’s as-yet-unseen antagonists, General Ketheric Thorm, a seemingly invincible necromancer leading an army of the dead towards the eponymous city of Baldur’s Gate – and voiced by none other than acclaimed character actor J.K. Simmons.

“Ketheric is a man with complex ambitions and motivations, so in searching for his voice, we knew we needed to work with a renowned character actor who could deliver the kind of nuanced performance we were looking for – so we decided to cast J.K. Simmons (WhiplashSpider-Man). While we expected it, we were still amazed at how much his performance helped deepen the character. We’ll introduce you to two more antagonists over the coming months – keep an eye out,” explained Larian creative director Swen Vincke.

Here’s a peek inside the recording booth with J.K. Simmons as Ketheric Thorm:
