FTS: Danchi Days Revives a Summer Festival on Steam

Danchi Days, a slice-of-life adventure from gingham games and publisher Analgesic Productions, launched on Steam October 29. The story follows 12-year-old Hoshino as she returns to her Japanese hometown and tries to revive the neighborhood’s summer festival to cheer up her grandmother, who is living with dementia.

Hoshino and her kappa sidekick, Moro-Q, search for five offerings needed to bring the festival back. Along the way, players meet neighbors with different personalities, explore the danchi housing complex and learn more about the community. Some residents support the festival while others stand in its way.

The adventure mixes exploration with unusual minigames called “Sense Games,” which can ask players to smell trees, hug plushies or listen to toilets. Hoshino can also browse an in-game internet for details about her neighbors, including corners of the web that take a darker turn.

Danchi Days is available on Steam for Windows and Mac, with Steam Deck support. A 30-minute demo covering Chapter 1 is also available. The game is priced at $14.99, with a 10% launch discount.
