FTS: tinyBuild Announces "Hull Rupture," A New Base Management/Tower Defense Roguelite, Steam Playtest Out Now

Humans Are Just Another Resource in Hull Rupture, tinyBuild’s New Base Management/Tower Defense Roguelite

Use puny humans to manage your spaceship and fend off alien assaults in Hull Rupture’s first Steam playtest, going on now!

SEATTLE  April 23, 2026  Earth is gone. But revenge can still be yours! At today’s Second Wind Games Showcase, developer Konfa Games (Despot’s GameDespotism 3k) and indie publisher tinyBuild revealed Hull Rupture, a new base management-meets-tower defense roguelite fueled by the power of the human spirit (and other human parts). As the rogue AI Despot, you’ll use puny humans as a renewable resource to defend your spaceship from relentless hordes of aliens in this strategic action game where every decision has lasting consequences.

Don’t let those humans go to waste! Experience Hull Rupture for yourself by signing up for the game’s new playtest, live now on Steam.

Hull Rupture is the ultimate base and resource management game, pitting you against increasingly deadly onslaughts of aliens as you fly across the galaxy in humanity's last weapon, a living vessel of destruction commanded by the AI Despot with a crew of meatbag personnel to assist. Explore the cosmos, manage your spaceship, and repel increasingly lethal alien assaults while maximizing every resource at your disposal. Even the humans. Especially the humans. While supplies last.

“We loved the reception our previous games got, but Hull Rupture is us swinging for something bigger. More depth, more ambition, and honestly, we think it's the most engaging thing we've made so far,” said Nikolay Kuznetsov, Game Director at Konfa Games. “While our past games explored different perspectives of Despot, the AI that enslaved humanity, he is finally leaving his cramped 'childhood home,' Earth, to take on the Galactic Union in deep space! It's also a bit of a personal milestone for us as a studio. We've grown a lot, and this game reflects that.”

Key Features

  • Humans Are A Resource: Earth is gone. Your ship is one of humanity’s last weapons, a living projectile racing toward the alien homeworld to deliver its final vengeance. To survive the journey, you must keep the ship moving and defend it at all costs. Use all your resources, yes, even the humans, to keep your vessel intact and fulfill your mission.

  • Relentless Tower Defense Warfare: Aliens don’t knock – they rip holes straight through your hull! You know exactly when and where they’ll arrive, but that’s still not enough. Place turrets, traps, barricades and automated defenses to funnel enemies into carefully planned kill zones, and adapt your layout on the fly to counter their ever-growing threat.

  • Choose Your Consequences: Where you go and what you decide shapes your run, from risks to rewards. Trade safety for power, accepting harsher waves for better gains, but be careful not to lock yourself into choices you live to regret. Different ship models with varying layouts and systems can further impact how each situation unfolds (or unravels).

Ready for vengeance? Wishlist Hull Rupture on Steam and jump into the game’s first playtest now!

Survivor Mercs: Squad Up, Extract, and Survive the Bullet Storm

The extraction shooter space is back with more 2D 3D action! Survivor Mercs, developed under Snail Games USA’s Wandering Wizard label, is carving out its place on Steam and is now gearing up for a full launch (it's also headed to Xbox in due time).

At its core, Survivor Mercs blends the chaos of bullet-heaven survival with the tactical tension of an extraction shooter. You’re not just a lone survivor dodging waves—you’re a cloned commander leading a squad of mercenaries against M.E.G.A. Corp’s relentless robot army. Every run is a gamble: mow down enemies, secure loot, and decide whether to extract safely or risk it all for bigger rewards. After that L, you'll wish you went back to the base in some cases.

One thing I’ve got to give credit to is discounting games during early access. Survivor Mercs is doing exactly that during the No Time To Loot festival.

Players get in at a lower cost, while developers receive the financial backing they need to keep development rolling. It’s a win-win. Supporters feel rewarded for taking the early plunge, and devs get the momentum to keep refining their vision. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen it happen, but every time it does, I can’t help but applaud.

More studios should take note. It’s a simple but powerful gesture that builds goodwill and community trust—two things money can’t buy.

 Festival Celebration & Community Perks

In celebration of the No Time To Loot festival, the team at Snail Games USA hooked me up with three codes to share (big thanks to Monty for that!). Whether you’re one of the lucky ones to snag a code or not, here’s the real kicker:

You can grab Survivor Mercs for less than $5 during the festival window. That’s pocket change for a game that’s already showing strong legs in early access and only getting sharper with each update. That said, it's time for another dose of Watch & Nab!

 Survivor Mercs

Clone Commanders – Each run starts with a randomized commander, complete with unique traits that change your approach.

Squad-Based Action – Build a team of mercs with diverse skills and synergies. This isn’t just about dodging bullets—it’s about commanding a unit.

Active Twin-Stick Gameplay – Unlike auto-shooters, Survivor Mercs keeps you in control with dashes, aimed fire, and tactical decision-making.

Bunker HQ Progression – Invest your loot into upgrades, new mercs, and gear to strengthen your squad for future runs. Build and add to your strategy.

Couch Co-op – Bring friends into the chaos, with one player leading as commander and others controlling mercs in the squad. Simple enough to pick up and play by anyone.

With its simple yet fast-paced action, roguelite depth, and squad-driven twist on the bullet-heaven formula, Survivor Mercs is shaping up to be a standout in the genre for 2D 3D options. The fact that it’s launching with a community-first mindset—discounting during early access and celebrating with events like No Time To Loot—only makes me root for it more.

So whether you’re diving in with a free code or picking it up for less than five bucks, now’s the perfect time to squad up, extract, and survive the storm. The bosses are waiting.

Deadzone: Rogue – The Ultimate Summer Co-op Thrill Ride?

(Transmission begins: Space Pod 7, orbiting the gaming galaxy. Snacks? Check. Controller? Check. Let’s talk about Deadzone: Rogue.)

The Perfect Summer Kickoff? Possibly... There’s something magical about finding a game that pulls you in for hours without realizing it. Deadzone: Rogue is exactly that kind of experience. It’s a sci-fi roguelite FPS that throws you into the depths of the ISS-X, a derelict spaceship crawling with rogue machines and deadly threats. The moment you boot it up, you’re in... no fluff, no filler, just pure roguelite action. You get blips of information as you progress, but it isn't presented to you in a fully laid out story in the beginning. Let's dive in!

At $24.99, this game is a steal. But here’s the catch... it’s still in Early Access, and the price might change when v1.0 drops. If you’re even remotely interested, now’s the time to jump in before the final pricing decision is made. The same thing happened with Starnaut. Not sure whether it will increase in price or if they'll change their mind... but I appreciate when developers understand that their game isn't done done so in turn they give early supporters the hook up. This support helps them be able to reach the finishline financially, and just so you know... you aren't obligated to play it ahead of the official release if you'd prefer to wait.

Co-op Gameplay – The Real Test of Skill Solo runs are fun, but co-op mode? That’s where the chaos truly shines. Grab a friend, squad up, and tackle the harder modes together. The game’s difficulty scales beautifully, meaning teamwork is essential. You’ll need to coordinate attacks, share resources, and strategize to survive the relentless waves of enemies.

Deadzone: Rogue Co-Op Mode

The fluid movement and gunplay make every firefight feel exhilarating. Whether you’re dodging enemy fire, chaining elemental attacks, or blasting through hordes, every action feels responsive and rewarding. The only thing missing? Rumble feedback in the controller. But hey, the devs are still working on the game and are open to feedback... so who knows what future updates might bring?

Replay Value – One More Run, Just One More Deadzone: Rogue is the kind of game that keeps you coming back. Every run is different, thanks to its procedural generation and deep progression system. You’ll constantly unlock new weapons, perks, and upgrades, making each session feel fresh. The challenge missions add another layer of depth, ensuring that even seasoned players have something to strive for.

Deadzone: Rogue - Item Orb options

And let’s be real... this is the perfect game to lose yourself in. My last session? Nearly two hours flew by before I even realized it. That’s how easy it is to jump in and lose track of time. The controls make this game even better, it doesn't feel stiff... which has turned me off with some games (especially if there is no reason for it.)

Get in While the Getting Is Good Deadzone: Rogue is still evolving, and the devs at Prophecy Games are listening to the community. The FAQ section even hints that the price may change based on how the game performs and player feedback. Similar things have happened with other games, so if you like what you see, snag it now before v1.0 drops.

So, Space Cadets, if you’re looking for a fast-paced, co-op-friendly, endlessly replayable FPS to kick off the summer, Deadzone: Rogue is one worth considering. Grab your weapons, upgrade your abilities, and dive into the chaos... because in Deadzone, survival is the only mission.

(Transmission ends. Space Pod 7 drifting into the next gaming adventure. Snacks? Running low. Time for a resupply at the Space Snack Shack. "Computer"... autopilot to the nearest Space Snack Shack. Time for a nap.)
