Pokemon fans rejoice... over Palworld and... it's obvious why!

Tapping into that Pokemon magic is like hitting a nostalgia goldmine with an infinite vein. Pokemon has been an absolute juggernaut in the gaming world since the 90s, and anything that even remotely smells like that formula is bound to turn heads. Palworld, with its creature-catching and battling mechanics, is like catnip for Pokemon fans, just with a little extra spice and everything not-so-nice thrown in.

Why was it obvious? Come on, the formula's tried and true—people love building up a collection of fantastical creatures. It's like collecting trading cards, but these cards can shoot fire and fly! Plus, Palworld threw in some survival elements, crafting, and a more 'mature' theme that might cater to the original Pokemon generation who are all grown-up now but still carrying that torch for pocket monsters.

The real icing on the cake, or in this case, the Rare Candy on the Pikachu, is the multiplayer component. Bringing friends along for the ride? That's a recipe for some serious playtime and shenanigans, which, let's face it, is exactly what the doctor ordered for gamers who grew up wishing Pokemon was a touch more...social.

In short, mix the love of creature collecting with a pinch of nostalgia, a sprinkle of multiplayer, and a dash of new features, and you've got yourself a concoction that'll sell faster than a Master Ball at the Pokemart. But, if the game's a glitchy mess or as empty as a gym on launch day?

That's when the Pokemon fans turn from Jigglypuff-cute to Gyarados-furious. So, it was great to see those sales numbers, but let's hope they fix those servers before the fans decide to 'release' their copies back into the wild, so to speak.

Palworld: 1 Million Copies Sold... but

When Pocketpair announced that they had sold 1 million copies of Palworld within 8 hours of its release, it was a cause for the team to celebrate. It's a wonderful achievement to have as an Indie Developer, but it came as no surprise to me that the servers had difficulty handling the high volume of traffic if they weren't familiar with the territory.

I believe that rigorous testing before releasing the game would have been beneficial in avoiding server overload and ensuring a smoother launch. This is because testing would have allowed the developers to identify and address potential issues before the public got involved. It would have given them a chance to fix any bugs or glitches, optimize the server capacity, and prepare for the large influx of users.

However, it's also worth noting that no amount of testing can completely guarantee that everything will go smoothly on launch day. There will always be unexpected challenges and issues that arise, and it's up to the developers to be prepared for them. In my opinion, testing is just one aspect of the overall process that determines whether or not a game crosses the finish line properly.

While implementing testers may have improved the chances of a smoother launch for Palworld, it's hard to say for sure whether or not it would have completely avoided server overload. Nonetheless, it certainly could've helped iron out a few wrinkles.

Palworld: The Pokemon alternative for PC gamers? + Tokyo Game Show 2022 Day 2 Recap!

We know how busy most of our audience is... and so what better way to catch up on TGS2022 than to recap from beginning to end? Before we jump into that, (I have to say) Palworld... will surely steal some of Pokemon's potential fans if the game is solid and keeps the party going for the long haul. I was going back and forth like... is this Pokemon? No... wait... is it? No that's not a Pokeball, but... what if it is? Wait... Palworld?! Holy crap!

It's been a while since that initial reaction, but... it's still there. I feel that Palworld is definitely the Pokemon-inspired alternative for PC gamers, but not only that, I honestly think that the game will make some gamers completely turn away from Pokemon. I'm not saying that Poke fanatics would swear off on the franchise, but... there are PC gamers year in and year out who waver on buying select consoles based on exclusive games. Pokemon is one of those franchises that have made some consider the Nintendo Switch, and... you know our motto... it doesn't matter where you game, fun it up!

I just think this alternative seemingly has the potential to make some PC gamers say... "I'm good with Palworld", especially with the Steam Deck in existence. You have all of your existing games from day 1 of your Steam account activation up until whatever badge you have to celebrate how long you've been gaming on Steam... and you're able to enjoy games like Palworld when it launches in 2023.

It gives me Pokemon X Monster Hunter vibes, to be honest... and I'm all for it. So whether you're gaming on the go... or with a Steam Dock of sorts, if Palworld is as awesome as we hope it will be... good memories are just waiting to be made.

By the way, if you need a good alternative to the official Steam Dock, consider these options:

No word on what the official dock will cost, but it will likely cost more.

Here are the visuals of the third-party Steam dock. They look almost the exact same, but... the official dock has the ethernet port. You should be able to connect an ethernet port via one of the USB ports, but... if you need to buy something additionally... you're better off buying another option.
