Dude, I'm not sure what's going on over at Samsung, but according to our friends at Digital Trends, they're asking customers to reserve the Odyssey OLED G9 before the price has been revealed it's crazy. Perhaps crazy like a fox.
It's crazy because they can slap any price on it and end up losing interest from people who become gunshy about spending that type of money, but crazy like a fox if it means that those who reserve give an idea of demand and reservations can result in some extras for those who do.
I get that it's a nice curved screen monitor, dual 1440p QD-OLED at 240Hz, and blazzay blah, but it's not that nice if I'm potentially looking at the cost of a new PC. So this could work out, it's not a pre-order, but you don't know how people will react when the price is revealed.
If you reserve the OLED G9 monitor, you get $50 off instantly + a $250 Samsung gift card. So if you were going to get one anyone, go ahead and jump on the reserve bus. Just make sure you cross your fingers that this thing is less than the 2,500 Euro as mentioned by Digitec Galaxus.
There are other options out there that don't require customers to take a leap of faith when it comes to price, but if it pays off they found a new way to win by rewarding customers, as long as they don't pull a fast one.
