FTS: Mouthwashing Hits Consoles as Screen Gems Moves Ahead with a Film

CRITICAL REFLEX and Wrong Organ have brought Mouthwashing to consoles, while Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems is moving ahead with a feature film adaptation of the psychological horror game.

Released October 29, the game is now available on PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox. It is also included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and PC. Players can explore the damaged interplanetary freighter Tulpar as its five crew members face dwindling supplies, isolation and increasingly unstable perceptions of what is happening around them.

The film adaptation is being directed by Karyn Kusama, whose credits include Jennifer’s Body and Yellowjackets. Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay are writing the screenplay. Scott Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill and Vince Cheng will produce through Crooked Highway. Plot details have not been announced.

Mouthwashing first arrived on PC in 2024. Its console debut expands the story to a wider audience, while the film brings the Tulpar crew’s descent into paranoia to a new format.
