Galactic Empire: Special Edition... Reviewed!
As a music lover, I was thrilled to get the chance to review the Galactic Empire's Special Edition album. And as a huge fan of both Star Wars and metal, I was doubly excited for this strum-fest.
From the very first track, a rocker's remix of the 20th Century Fox Fanfare, I was excited. The opening guitar riff instantly transported me to a galaxy far, far away. And the pounding drums throughout the album kept my head banging the whole way through.
While I would have loved to have heard some vocals on the album, I think the overall presentation is still respectable and fitting for each theme. This is my first time listening to Galactic Empire, they're actually a heavy metal instrumental Star Wars cosplay band. How badass is that?
Star Wars and Revenge of the Sith could have easily been two separate tracks, but the way they flow from one to the next makes for one kickass 7-minute experience. This is the longest track at 7:30.
Obi-Wan Kenobi was my favorite track, it made me want to grab a lightsaber and attempt to reenact a battle. The Battle of Hoth was a close second – an energetic and exciting track that will definitely get your heart pumping in the gym or wake you up to finish your (school) work.
I listened to the Special Edition album using the iFi Audio GO link in conjunction with the Philips Audio 9500 HiFi Headphones. The thumps of the drums made my ears dance, but it wouldn't be the same without the guitars driving the sound. For what it's worth, I'd give this album a 4.75 out of 5. They tried to deliver variety, and there is with the different themes, but I did find myself checking certain tracks to see if the playlist looped over.
Price-wise, I think $9.49 totally works for MP3. You can also get it on CD for $11.98, and Vinyl is $23.99. *Streaming options are also available.
Overall, this album is worth a listen for any Star Wars fan. It will make its official arrival to earth on May 5, 2023, and they're ready to take over your eardrums.
