Let's unbox!
Puro Sound Labs prides itself on volume-limited headphones... because they want to prevent noise-induced hearing loss from affecting anyone else. Niki Russell, kicked this whole thing off because she's partially deaf in both ears as a result of something completely preventable. When she was a kid, she had her headphones cranked to a dangerous level for a long period of time... and the rest was history (she couldn't hear her friends sitting across the table). Puro Sound Labs revealed that 1-in-5 teens will lose their hearing also, and it's a pleasure reviewing a product that gives you an option that prevents that.
Fun fact: Dave Russell is the creator of Puro Sound Labs. He made the products in honor of his daughter Niki to prevent other kids from getting NIHL and has opened the door for adults with products like the PuroPro & PuroGamer headphones. Prior to this review, I got the news that Niki, Christina, and Ashley are now the owners of Puro Sound Labs. It's pretty cool to see their dad pass down the company he started because of his little girl.
Build:When it comes to the build of these headphones, you can feel the softness before placing them on. You have a protein leather headband + ear cushions with a soft interior that feels good/light around the ears... just inviting you to put them on.
That light feel around my ears was definitely a combination of the flexible body in combination with the soft material, and I thank the designers for the flexibility... because I can actually wear the headphones longer when they aren't clamped down on my head.
If you don't know, I have a low tolerance for pressure on my ears. I've only been able to wear some headphones for about 30 to 45 minutes (max), that's not even a feature-length film... so I appreciate comfy headphones like the PuroPro. I've been able to lay back and actually dose off with these headphones for hours, and I tried to sleep in them but I tend to sleep on my side... so I eventually took them off (but overall comfy).
These foldable headphones also feature a DJ-Style full swivel of the ear cups (no cheek rubs here), and the measurements on the headphones are a lovely touch for those who want their headphones at a certain level. Even if you have one ear slightly higher or lower than the other, these give you an idea of where to place the earcups without the constant readjustment when you place them on. Instead, you'll know... because the numbers don't lie. :p
By the way, a certain someone told me that this little adjustment feature would be perfect for their OCD... so that's another plus.
Design-wise, the body is quite plain. Yes they fold and swivel, which is great... they're just (sorta) plain looking (even if it doesn't make or break the audio). Outside of the word... "Puro" on top of the headphones, I wouldn't be able to easily pick these out among a group of plain headphones. If I could add one thing, I would place a metal strip with the logo on the earcup. It's not all about being flashy, but... it gives it a little something more.
Audio:Before I jump into the audio, I want to point out first and foremost that these headphones deliver 85dB/95dB max volume options. The PuroPro bumps it up 10 dB (to 95 decibels) if you want to go there, but they recommend that you limit 95dB up to 50 minutes... and 85dB up to 8 hours. These are the maximum safe sound listening levels/times recommended by organizations like WHO, OSHA, etc.
O.S.H.A. is short for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, I went to the Orlando Airport location several times in the past. They're legit, it's the same place you'd have to go through for training on health & safety in order to work for various jobs and get access to select worksites/facilities.
Now let's get to the actual audio. One thing I appreciate about these headphones is that they don't shy away from lows, mids, or even highs through the 40mm drivers... they just spare the ears of the deafening decibels. I want to identify the sounds I'm listening to... not have everything meshed together in an unrecognizable mess, but I will hold off and deliver a bit more detail about this below.
This is what keeps the company in business in my opinion because volume limiting is good and great, but... if the headphones sucked there would be nothing to discuss (even with NIHL on the table... and that's bad to say but... it's real). Luckily, that's not the case with the PuroPro headphones. You may ask what the difference is between these headphones and the PuroQuiet, and I'd say the ability to fold these + these are adult-sized headphones with more dB.

Now you may be wondering what in the world the Total Harmonic Distortion is, and I'm glad you asked. According to our associates over at Lifewire, "Music is made of fundamental and harmonic frequencies. The combination of fundamental and harmonic frequencies gives musical instruments unique timbre and allows the human ear to distinguish between them." So when it comes to THD and our headphones, "Once the Total Harmonic Distortion has increased past a certain point, you can expect the accuracy of sound to be compromised."
So in other words, the PuroPro Headphones have less than 1% total harmonic distortion, which is good. The lower the percentage the better, if you're eyeing headphones above that percentage... expect for distortion to increase. Outside of great audio for yourself, I recommend it for your little one once it's safe to use headphones (like the PuroQuiet option) because it's important for them to hear and recognize the differences when it comes to sounds like instruments, animals, and a number of other things.
By the way, 20Hz delivers a very low base rumble... which is where I got those nice deep booms even without the volume cranked.
Price:Pricewise... the PuroPro Headphones come in at $199.99, which is cool for what it's worth (because it does protect your ears)... but you begin to get into that area of impulse buying at around $150 (for me).
Overall, these are comfy headphones that deliver quality sound while protecting the ears. The battery leaves room for 10's of hours of audio action and my ears don't hurt when I'm done. That's a win!

HELM Audio's True Wireless 5 headphones contain bluetooth 5, with TRUE 24-bit aptX... but how do they sound? Lets find out!
I jumped right in, looking for the smallest eartips... although for some reason they didn't really help keep the headphones in. So I went the next size up with slight pressure, placed them in, and prepared for lift off with a few music tracks, game trailers (of course), and some shows + movies.
The lows really stand out with these headphones. I was watching a film... where there was noise going on in the courtroom, but I clearly heard an actor drink water from a glass. The bass is cool, but I really like being able to hear those cool little additions clearly.
Just in case you're wondering what 24-bit aptX is exactly, it basically allows HD quality sound over a Bluetooth connection. Basic aptX allows supports 16bit, so with 24-bit... you go from CD quality to... better-than-CD quality (according to aptX's website). I don't have basic aptX bluetooth headphones laying around to test this out, but... I've had some in the past that had a bit more white noise than I was comfortable with.
Speaking of white noise... I notice it a bit more with these while listening to select ASMR recordings. These headphones are likely just amplifying the sound in the recordings, but... I wish they didn't as much. I turned other headphones down to about 30 to 40 and was able to eliminate that sound, but it didn't really work with these (at least at a volume that allowed me to enjoy the recording). I had to skip around until I found some that were good enough to fly under the headphones white noise radar. Sounds like a pain, but... when I found a higher quality ASMR recording... it's was like music to my ears (or should I say... whispers & taps to my ears?).
I can't forget about games... I love playing games with these headphones. I didn't play any PC games this time around... didn't have any time, but I was able to log some time on mobile games like... Wordament, Fire Emblem Heroes, Teppen, and... Hitman Go (I loved the way this game sounds which allowed me to enjoy plenty of crisp highs and... warm mids).
The HELM Audio True Wireless 5.0 Headphones feel like they're some good sturdy headphones, and able to take drops. They don't have that plastic exterior covering the entire headphones that you may see on the back... for the most part they have this thick water resistant silicon padding (IPX4 to be exact).
The headphones have a range of 60+ Feet using a Helix antenna (standard school buses are about 30 to 40 feet long), and they've paired for me in less than 3 or 4 seconds... so you can pull them right out of the case and expect them to be ready for audio action by the time they hit your ears.
I was able to use these headphones almost half the day before placing them back in the case. I sleep for about 6 hours... and they were still playing ASMR recordings when I woke up (whether they were still in my ears or not). I was able to use the headphones and the case for more than a day before reaching for the USB. I don't know what the battery mAh is for the case, but HELM confirmed that I can get 30 to 40 hours of play time out of the headphones before charging the case. My test confirmed that I was able to go over a day easily.
The headphones take about 1.5 hours to charge and have 100 hours of standby time (according to HELM... but I haven't tested this out myself). The charge time is longer than others I've tried out, but the play time is double... so there is a plus on the flip side of that coin.
The quality of the phone calls is also good. To be honest I wasn't listening for the best quality, but no one said "could you repeat that?"... it was clear.
The comfort of these is... okay, but they don't stay in my ears that well. I found myself pushing them in more often than i'd like to admit or catching them on their way out of my ear. They have this little nub extending from the top part of the headphones... but it doesn't really do me any good (see above). I think its also because the ear tips are a slightly bigger than my ear canal, so they come out based on the pressure of the squeeze pushing them out.
My ear canals are not the happiest, but perhaps yours will be. I would mention tolerance level as far as how long I wore them, but they don't stay in my ears for a long period of time and will come out on their own. While sleeping I really didn't notice, but they weren't all the way in my ears when I awake in those rare cases they remain in.
I hopped back and forth between the smallest ear tips and the ones I used primarily, but... I don't know, maybe they will have a better fit for someone else. I think in a revised version, they can keep the stylish textured exterior, just form the body of the headphones to be more in the shape of what the ear's interior is shaped like (it helps that they sit on the auricle but the comfort level isn't a 10 for me).
The MSRP of the HELM True Wireless 5.0 Headphones is... $129.99, which is okay, but I think a price range between $99.99 & a max of $114.99 works better. My personal experience was okay, but... in order to enjoy the audio and the life of the batteries... I kinda need them to remain in my ears for a longer duration.
Overall, the HELM True Wireless 5.0 Headphones deliver a nice sound... great range (which works well when making your way around a home or even a decent sized gym). The headphones are also durable, and able to take on some sweat, mud, and... even a little rain. The price could use some work because there are options that fit a bit better in my ears, and... I'd look forward to a revision based on how awesome the battery life is.
Time for another headphone review... and I know this looks similar to a previously reviewed product,
but... it's not. The difference is... those are Bluetooth, these are not.
If you're looking at both 1More Stylish Dual-dynamic Driver (BT & Corded) In-Ear Headphones on the 1More site... you'll notice that they have very similar descriptions, but does one sound better than the other... or are you simply paying more to cut the cord? Let's find out after this unboxing!
I totally didn't realize that the preferred software that I use, doesn't allow for 4K video output.
As seen in the unboxing video... you have a magnetic flap on the box (closes tight). The interior showcases the concept art... which I always enjoy. You get your headphones, ear tips, and surprisingly a little storage bag... but don't try tugging on the bag to close it fully (the cord broke on me).
It's not as quality a storage bag like the ones that cost more, and while its... something... they should consider a different way to close the case (like the ones that you squeeze to open and release to close). Even a zipper style case could work for these, but for now... I'd advise just placing them in the bag without pulling it closed. The rope has one of those metal clasp things that connect it to the other side... but it could've simply gone around so both sides are in the handle.
Like other 1More In-Ear Headphones, I've reviewed... I immediately switched to the smallest ones. If you're not familiar with my previous reviews of in-ear headphones, I tend to switch to the smallest ear tips because my ear canals aren't that big. I do this not only for the best fit (and to prevent ear discomfort) but also for the best listening experience.
If you get In-Ear Headphones... always make sure that you switch to the best ear tip fit to get your money's worth (if alternate sizes are available). Oh... and before I forget, I know the word "Stylish" and the advertising may make some of you feel that these headphones are for women only... but they aren't. So don't shy away from the not-so-typical colors if you like these headphones.
If the color pairs well with what I'm wearing... I'm there. The spearmint green is nearly the exact same color as my polo.
For the first time ever... I did a head to head simultaneous test of headphones. I put one in each ear and listened to the same track. I can honestly say... I didn't notice a difference (I was listening to the "Oil Money" track by Rick Ross ft. Jada Kiss... just in case you were wondering). The impedance is 32 ohms for both, they both have the dual dynamic driver, 1 Titanium diaphragm + 1 Graphene diaphragm.
The bass is good and has a nice range, no problems with the mids, and the highs check out (EDM sounds good on these). I like the clarity... although it's not as clear the 1MORE Quad Driver In-Ear Headphones, it works. I really don't notice a difference between these and the Stylish Bluetooth version, so I think it more so boils down to whether you want a cord or not.
If you don't care for the Bluetooth version, but you like the color of the headphones... the wired ones could be the best option for you (especially if you have a headphone jack on your phone and don't want to deal with charging headphones).
On the other hand, if you prefer cutting the cord... to avoid those annoying tugs and snags (especially during transport or workouts) then the Bluetooth version could work for you.
One thing I wish these headphones had was a shirt clip. I don't think it would've been much of a stretch for that little extra to be thrown in because it helps prevent the headphones from coming out of your ears from light tugs on the cord... or that slow slip out of yours from movement. I don't like the ear tips of my headphones to touch anything except my ears, the case, or another designated area. So the lack of a clip can result in these bad boys falling and touch who knows what. This is just something that comes to my mind, but... that's just me.
The Stylish In-Ear Headphones retail for $39.99 versus the Bluetooth version... that's currently $69.99. This wasn't to put the headphones against each other, but... informing you is the purpose for these reviews. I was going back and forth about the price of these, but $39.99 sounds about right (pun intended). That said... if you can shell out 10 more bucks, you can get the less-Stylish 1More Dual Driver In-Ear Hi-Res (wired) Headphones that come with the extras I wish were in this package. Maybe they'll marry the two one of these days.
Overall, the 1MORE Stylish Dual-dynamic Driver In-Ear Headphones deliver at the price and are fashion friendly. I think 1More missed an opportunity though, and I know they're trying to deliver a range of products and price points... but the wired Stylish headphones would've been a better buy with the tech specs of 1MORE's $49.99 option.
A new package arrived, and you know what that means… it's unboxing time!
As you see… the package contains the 1More Stylish Dual-Dynamic Driver Headphones, various ear tip sizes… which I love (I immediately switched to the small ones), a flat USB cord for charging, and… a storage bag. I appreciate them including this bag, and I'd even say that you'll need to use this often. I love headphones, and I like to make sure that the earpieces are clean and seldom if ever make contact with anything that isn't my ears or a carrying case. You can get away with sitting certain headphones down, but the earpieces dangle on these, so… the bag is a plus/necessity. These definitely go in the bag for storage, when they're charging, or they're placed where the earpieces are able to dangle without coming in contact with anything else (i.e. on a hook or something).
I also see that 1More included product concept art on the interior of this package as well. It's not as quality of a package as previously reviewed products, but... it's not bad, and I think they know they have something when it comes to adding that dose of artistic cool. I'm sure the artist definitely appreciates the fact that their design will live on for product owners to see (because you usually don't see the drawings of the final product or even the concept art).
When it came to deciding which pair to get… it was sort of a difficult decision (for me) between Platinum Gold, Spearmint Green, and Midnight Black. I even looked at Rose Pink… just to see what they looked like. If I were Cam'Ron during his pink era… that would've been a clear choice. Platinum Gold was the winner for me because the standard is Black in terms of most headphones (its classic but variety doesn't hurt), and Spearmint Green isn't really a color in my wardrobe. Even if I don't have a platinum gold outfit laying around… the color of these headphones looks nice with a variety of threads. Okay… okay… I confess that I do have a gold dragon Kung Fu uniform (and it's beautiful) but… realistically I wouldn't just wear that anywhere.
These headphones have a clean design, nothing over the top. You get what you need in a subtle design that's comfortable to the point that I even forgot that they were around my neck, literally. The fact that they have a shape-memory neckband… just may have a little something to do with that. The sturdy neckband has a built-in "Memory Metal" to make it malleable. Points for durability. Durable headphones are great… especially when they protect what keeps them functioning.
After charging… the first thing I did was listen to a number of audio tracks that varied in sound quality, enjoyed some movies (totally didn't know there was an Appleseed film after Ex Machina, but I didn't like it as much) + gameplay. I even listened to some rival college marching bands, and I have to say that these headphones deliver a solid sound for the most part. These aren't exactly the 1More Quad-Driver Headphones… but they do a great job with those lows, mids, and highs. I was watching something and could hear the clear vocals of the main actors + the ambiance in the restaurant scene that included silverware clinking against plates among the sea of patrons conversing. The audio was recorded right and the headphones didn't mesh the sounds together, plus there wasn't an annoying buzz when I increased the volume to the suggested safe peak.
The 1More Stylish Dual-Dynamic Driver Headphones' design definitely helps the quality sound in these headphones. Not only are you working with one titanium + one graphene diaphragm, but the way its set up in the coaxial design… it allows for the extended frequency with the energy transfer. Phone calls are pretty clear… which includes Google Duo video chats when they aren't whistling like a tea kettle. I think that's the only time I got a bit of a buzz in these headphones, but they were coming out of my ear before I could double check. (Google, please work on that.)

Plus to give wireless headphones credit where credit is due… I'm not running out to workout and get active with wired headphones. These headphones do what they do in Bluetooth 4.2 while on the go, which could be up and down the basketball court, in the gym, grocery shopping, running through the airport (because your driver took the shortcut that everyone else knows about), cutting the grass or other places where a cord could get in the way.
The first thing I noticed was the bass, but… secondly was the connection in terms of distance with these headphones. You can get up to 30ft away from the connected device and maintain your connection (slightly longer than the length of a doubledecker bus). This allowed me to place a laptop or phone in the center of my home and go from one side to the next, although with the added factor of the walls... I experienced some turbulence. I was able to go as far as the sidewalk outside of my home and remain connected, it was choppy, but it had to be like 4 car lengths away from the phone (in the house).
When it comes to the charging, these headphones have a 3C battery. You may be wondering what in the heck type of battery that is, but it’s a type of battery that's great for fast charging. 1More says that we can get at least 3 hours of battery off of 10 minutes of charge time. I put it to the test… and… I don't know, maybe I left it on for 15 minutes or so because I got over 4 hours out of it. TWO THUMBS UP! Great to be able to get that kinda juice in so little time, although I'm a bit wary regarding the long-term life of a battery getting only 10 to 15 minutes of charge, so I'd say test how long it takes to charge your headphones. Run them from full to E at least once every two weeks as you proceed and give them their full 50 minutes of charge to keep the battery healthy (or how long it takes to charge them fully for you… if you use solar or lack a good outlet).
Tip: According to some professionals, new rechargeable batteries should be conditioned 3 to 4 times… before they can achieve maximum capacity. So those initial charges are crucial… which can be challenging when going up against the excitement for your new tech. Just think about the investment because you can get many years out of most if you treat them right or maximize your resell value.
The 1More Stylish Dual-Dynamic Driver Headphones have a 125 mAh Lithium Battery… with a recorded time of up to 6 hours of steady use. Considering the fact that it doesn't take long to charge… I consider this a win, especially for those of you able to wear headphones at work.
Con: One thing I would've loved to see in this design is a magnetic tip on the ends of the neckband and headphone earpieces so they can attach without dangling when they aren't in use. I don't know how this would affect the quality of the headphones... but when I'm washing my hands or leaning over something, they have made contact with a surface or two. Tucking them into your shirt helps when they aren't in use, but the comfort of the neckband can come back to haunt you when you forget they're on your neck to tuck in.
Another thing I noticed with these headphones is that they disconnect at times. I could blame it on my phone... which shuts off its Bluetooth when the battery gets low, but... the same happened with my laptop while doing the review. It didn't happen all the time, so I don't know what the factors were that caused it to disconnect during the times that it did. It hasn't happened enough to really call it a con, but I am scratching my head because I don't know why.
1More is pretty good about revising products, so if this is something they can implement... that would be great.
Pricewise… these work at $79.99. They're not priced over the top, durable with protection in the right places like the PE SR Tube where you'd normally grab to place them in your ears, sounds good, and it has great range + battery life. These factors nail what they need to nail, so I can't really ask for anything else (beyond the con). Oh yeah, I can ask for something else… but they've already done it, and that's the fact that they look good and the simple control works without falling short. The controls are on the inside of the left neckband area, so you don't see them from the outside and I find it to be super easy to press from there. You have the main power button + the up and down volume… which works because they also double for the other needed buttons like play/pause/answer/skip/etc.
Overall, the 1More Stylish Dual-Dynamic Driver Headphones were designed with style in mind, but they didn't skip out on quality in terms of the durability and audio quality.
