Turon Recipe
Treat yourself to an authentic Filipino snack while you conquer sushi foes. Turon (crispy banana spring rolls) is perfect for fueling late-night gaming marathons.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe plantains or saba bananas
- 8 lumpia or thin egg-roll wrappers
- ½ cup brown sugar
- Avacado oil for frying (excluding cold-pressed; Vegetable oil is fine)
Instructions
- Peel and slice each banana in half lengthwise.
- Roll each banana piece in brown sugar until evenly coated.
- Place a sugared banana on a wrapper, fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Seal the edge with a dab of water.
- Heat about 1 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Fry rolls in batches for 1–2 minutes per side, until golden-brown and caramel-crisp.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
