1More Evo... Reviewed!

Before we jump in... let's unbox!
Shout out to the team at 1More for supplying this product for a review. My opinions are my own.
_______________________________________________________________

1More is back at it again with their latest flagship earbuds... the 1More Evo. These just look and feel like... luxury, like something you would see Rick Ross wearing in a music video. That said, let's jump in to see how these fashion-friendly earbuds actually measure up for the price.

Quality + Comfort: The 1More TWS headphones came to mind initially when I took the 1More Evo out of the box. I love those earbuds, but... the 1More Evo is a smarter version (I'll get back to that in the features segment below). I was able to slip these into my ears without changing the ear tips, but the smaller size fits even better which improves the quality of sound (because they actually fit the way they're supposed to).

By the way, you don't just slip these into your ears, when you place them in... tilt the top part of the headphones back and push the silicone ear tip into your ear further. I mention this because you will notice that they fit more securely once this is done and the sound will be even better.

One thing I noticed during this review also is that I haven't had to prepare to catch these or push these earbuds back in my ear to make sure they didn't fall out. I won't say that it can't happen, especially while out in the heat for a longer period of time... but I haven't experienced it yet (even after breaking a sweat).

My tolerance for these earbuds is solid, and this is someone who came from the position of not enjoying earbuds at all. It's certainly based on the type of earbuds and their ear tips because... I enjoy them now. I've been able to wear these headphones for hours, at least 5 to 6 hours. I've literally slept with these in my ear for ASMR action and found myself laying partially on my ear at times with no discomfort. There was a bit of pressure laying directly on them, but I haven't found earbuds that eliminate the discomfort completely.

When it comes to the headphone case, you can tell or easily assume that the earbuds are quality. The case is metal with a matte black finish with 1More etched in gold on the top of the case. When you open the case, you see the left and right earbuds that look like jewelry. It's a clear reflective exterior as you see here with a gold outline + the 1More logo in the middle. You get the standard durable plastic body on the rest of the body, which works... because if it were like the face of the exterior it would be a slip n slide fest. Like with the 1More TWS headphones the case is a similar tall flatter case that slips into your pocket which works great for placing it in or out with ease.

The only thing I can poke at in terms of comfort is something simple, (don't laugh) it takes me a few tries to get these out of the case. I feel like I get a good grip and then they slip right back inside, there's a certain way to shift them to take them out... but I have to get used to it.

Another thing that you will find that's quality is the actual case, it's quite sturdy and contains the final sketches on the interior of the box (which never gets old because they're different for each product).

Sound: When it comes to sound quality, the 1More Evo knocks it out of the park (damn good sound). Shout out to Luca Bignardi (Grammy Award-Winning Sound Engineer) for tuning these headphones to the degree that he has. By the way, (and i'm not crapping on these other headphones but) Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 has a 7mm TrueResponse dynamic driver, and the B&O Beoplay EQ has a 6.8mm Electro-Dynamic driver, while the 1More Evo has a 10mm Dynamic Driver with a Balanced Armature.

Again, I'm not crapping on these... and I really enjoy B&O (I just tested tech in the new Ford Edge Titanium that had B&O), but dollar to dollar I have to give it to 1More (and I haven't gotten to the price tag yet). I haven't found anything in regards to the lows, mids, and highs to really point out where anything could use some work to be honest. If audio is bad, it's the recording (I had to search for a few tracks because you can tell when someone did a bad recording), you have a frequency response from 20Hz to 40kHz in these headphones and the audio I've experienced has been sweet.

I went on a sound spree listening to various music tracks, DTS + Dolby Demos, movies, and games with these earbuds that build upon the THX Certified dual driver design (on the 1More TWS). I was able to enjoy these without interruption by activating the ANC, which eliminated the sound from the AC and the PC so nothing got in the way of my audio experience. Explosions and audio are things i'm definitely a sucker for when it comes to my audio, but... I also love my ASMR that puts me at ease as I sail off into dreamland thinking happy thoughts of tomorrow.

Join me on this sound spree:

Rick Ross - Little Havana
Steely Dan - Black Cow
Busta Rhymes - Calm Down ft Eminem
Gerald Albright - What you see is what you get
Kanye West - Life Of The Party ft Andre 3000
Kendrick Lamar - The Heart Part 5
Windbound
Pinball FX
The Gunk
Tunic
Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins (even though I didn't care for the movie)
The Hitman's Bodyguard
Stargirl: Summer School
Batman (2022)

I can't forget about the call quality. My voice is on the deeper side, but I don't have to raise my voice with these headphones. The call quality isn't bad, but the quality has to also be on the other end... even though that's not on the earbuds.

In the box + Features: As seen in the unboxing... you get the 1More Evo Earbuds, charging case, USB-C cable, 4 additional sets of silicon ear tips, the 1More sticker, and the manual.

Features include:

QuietMax ANC Technology
3 Mics Per Earbud + Deep Neural Network Algorithm
Bluetooth 5.2
LDAC / AAC / SBC Codecs
L/R Simultaneous Transmission + Dual Device Connection
Auto Pairing
Waterproof - IPX4
Touch Control
Fast Charge
Battery Life 8hours without the charging case / 28 with charging case
Qi-Certified wireless charging
10mm Dynamic Driver + Balanced Armature
Noise cancellation depth up to 42dB

Going back to the dual device connection, it's definitely a plus. If you want to connect to another device like your PC, tablet, or smart TV... it's a plus to be able to do that easy shift. The 1More Evo allows you to connect without having to switch one connection for another, and the features are truly a noticeable step up from the 1More TWS even if those are excellent earbuds. By the way, Cameron from the 1More team gave me the steps to make the dual device connection possible (since it doesn't do it right out of the box at this time, you have to turn on the feature):

Instructions:
  1. Connect earbuds to phone with 1MORE Music App
  2. Tap on the 1MORE logo on the upper right hand corner
  3. Tap on Experimental Features
  4. Toggle Dual-device connection
  5. Connect earbuds with other device

I can't forget about the touch features in these headphones because it's not just tap (though taps will be included here):

Answer Call: Double tap

End Call: Double tap

Activate Voice Assistant: Triple tap

Play/Pause or Remove/Reinsert Earbud: Double tap

Press Finger On Earbud: ANC (On), Transparent, Off

Price:
Pricewise, the 1More EVO comes in at $169.99... which is solid, zero complaints. You can get it in either black & gold or white & gold.

Other competitors have a few more colors than what you have with these headphones, but... in terms of quality and price, I can live with these colors (especially since they look nice). $169.99, compared to $399 B&O Beoplay EQ, the $249.95 Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 3, and even the $279.99 Sony WF-1000XM4... it's honestly a no brainer.

No hate on the other options, but... money doesn't grow on trees, parents have to take care of x, y, z, college students don't always have money like that, and professionals that I know... aren't buying for the name they want the quality. What does that boil down to? Well... I present to you... the 1More EVO Earbuds.

1More True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones... Reviewed!

It's that time again! Shout out to 1More for supplying a review unit of the 1More True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones. That said, let's... unbox!

So these are the 1More True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones (the package is a keeper, it's solid and would be good for resale value down the road... if you wish to upgrade when that time comes). Right off the bat, these headphones seem twice the size of the 1More Stylish Bluetooth headphones... which will be mentioned here and there for the sake of comparisons to highlight why the ANC BT headphones have a higher price tag.

This won't be a review that craps on the 1More Stylish BT Headphones at all because they're solid and deliver great audio... but expect to see some differences.

Quality + Comfort: These headphones have a sturdy plastic body (doesn't feel cheap), so you will be okay if they happen to fall and hit the floor.

The ANC BT headphone case has a premium feel and comes in a metal material instead of a plastic body like... the Stylish BT headphones. The case isn't as wide as the Stylish one, but it does have a bit of a height difference to compensate... this makes it easier to slip inside the pocket.

Despite being bigger than the Stylish BT Headphones... they're comfy (for the most part) and remain in the ear well with the O-hook ear grips. They actually maintain a similar shape, they both have a button on the top back area of the headphones and the connection points for charging are in the same areas.
I have no problem with the shape of the headphones... but when you consider the fact that they stick out a bit, you can't exactly lay on your side without there being a little discomfort from the headphones (duh of the day). I wouldn't mind experiencing a design where it's flatter and more flush with the ear, but... I'm sure we'll see that sooner or later. I chalk the current design up to being the needed space to house the oomph under the hood.

I can feel the ANC BT Headphones in my ear a bit more than I do the Stylish BT Headphones (which I forget that those are even in my ears), but my tolerance is still high for the ANCs and... I've been able to sleep with them in.

I have to mention the carrying pouch again because it's the first time i've received a quality carrying pouch from 1More at this size. The others at a lower price point (gotta highlight that) don't come in this material... which is a nice plus and i'm glad they went the extra mile. I don't like the cheaper case because i'm usually concerned that they won't hold up with use, so for the most part I place the ear tips inside and place them on a desk or in the product box.

Sound: These headphones are THX Certified (making them the world's first THX Certified true wireless headphones) so that you're hearing what the sound engineer intended you to hear. I wanted to lead with that because, in terms of third party certifications, they're completely unnecessary... but they're sought after because it gives a stamp of approval by a reputable brand (so that you aren't merely relying on the 1st party's word).

By the way, these headphones were tuned by Grammy award-winning sound engineer, Luca Bignardi.

As far as sound goes when it comes to phone calls, I didn't make a ton of phone calls using the headphones... and most of the calls were on video chat. I was able to communicate and hear the person I was listening to, I just couldn't identify if the calls were better or worse because the people I usually talk to have a lot of action going on in the background (but we were able to communicate). This was before ANC was utilized.

One thing I was able to do on my end was turn on the active noise cancellation during phone calls... which worked as far as quieting my background noise. I did get some white noise while using the ANC... but not bad at all (really increased my ability to hear the caller) although there was a slight muffle when it came to calls (wasn't bad but you could tell that it was there). The white noise decreased when ANC Level 2 was activated. There is also a passthrough mode, but I preferred having the function off. It was cool... but I preferred to use something like that at a park versus in the office if I felt that it was absolutely necessary.

Now when it comes to the actual sound when listening to audio... (dude) it gave me that cinema-quality feel at a comfy volume. You don't have to crank the headphones up just to get those thumps, tings, clanks + whistles to stand out. These headphones rolled with the punches of every test and it effortlessly produced some damn good audio.

I watched and enjoyed a number of videos + music and played several games:

Stargirl (Season 1)
Elektra (2005)... yes I watched this, and I actually have a mint condition comic that I got during the DVD's release.
Mission Impossible 4
Living Colour - Cult of Personality
Anderson .Paak feat. Rick Ross - Cut Em In
Steely Dan - Black Cow
Michael Jackson - Off the Wall (most of the album)... I couldn't play just one track, I was in the zone.
WRC9
The Surge 2
Just Cause 4

Features: The first thing that actually stood out to me with these headphones was the infrared sensor. What it does is pauses your music, movies, and even podcasts... when you take one or both of the earpieces out so that you don't lose your place. I appreciate that because you have those times when you need to talk to someone or you ran into a friend that you haven't seen in a while... and you want to catch up.

By the way, you don't have to put both headphones in to continue listening to your music, just press play (the other headphone will give a light beep sound once it's inserted again). You may be wondering if the other earpiece will continue playing, but... it actually goes on standby until its reinserted in your ear. If it isn't reinserted within a certain amount of time... it will power off, this allows you to preserve battery.

The headphones are obviously able to be charged wirelessly, but... so is the Qi Compatible case.

Additional specs are as follows:

Dual ANC mics
Touch Control is used to activate the ANC features
Optimized Qualcomm Chip
Dedicated Hi-Res DSP
aptX / AAC Compatible
Dynamic Driver + Balanced Armature
15 Minutes Fast Charge for 2 Hours of use
1 Hour for fully charged headphones
Headphones have a max playback time of 6 hours
2 Hours for fully charged case
22 Hours of playback time when using juice from the fully charged case
Bluetooth 5.0 (10m range)
Impedance 32

The one drawback I have here is a lack of an IP rating. If the headphones have some sort of resistance, it should be presented (in my opinion), but... if there isn't... it should be updated to at least be sweat resistance. IPX4 would've made these the headphones to beat at this price point (at least an IPX4).

I have no problem using these headphones for anything other than workouts and stuff like that, but they would be limited to that (just to play it safe) because I don't know what would affect them as far as moisture goes.

Price: Pricewise... the 1More True Wireless ANC In-Ear Headphones lead the 1More pack at a justified price of $179.99, but not by much (i.e. the wired Quad-Driver THX-certified headphones are only $10 less). The price is solid, especially when they're nearly $100 or so... less than some of the more well-known brands with similar specs.

Overall, these are some awesome headphones that won't break the bank... and you don't have to crank the volume to get the depth to emerge and greet your ears with a satisfying audio experience.

1More Stylish True Wireless In-Ear Headphones... Reviewed!

I love these headphones... and it's not because they're the 2019 iF Design Award Winner. :p

As you see... the 1More Stylish True Wireless In-Ear Headphones come in a variety of colors.
I went with Black this time around.

1More continues to maintain the tradition of showcasing the final art for their products inside of their packages... along side the product. I've seen this more than a few times, but I enjoy looking at these every time, because I get to see how they drew up each design.

Inside the box you get:
  • 3 additional pairs of ear tips (4 in total)
  • 1More Stylish True Wireless In-Ear Headphones
  • Charging case (I call the electric egg)
  • 2 additional pairs of O-Hooks (3 in total)
  • USB cord
  • Storage bag
  • 1More Sticker
  • Etc.

The sound surprised the crap out of me. I don't know what I was expecting, and I wasn't doubting them but the bass is what got me. I'm still tuning my ear to determine the best lows, mids, and highs... but at this time I haven't found any problems (unless i'm wearing the wrong sized ear tips... which make them sound a bit muffled).

Music sounds good, games, movies, ASMR, and podcasts sound good (as good as the recorded quality). I don't know any headphones able to fix horrible recordings... so I have to say that the sounds of some recordings were good. If it sounds bad, headphones able to amplify it will amplify it... and these headphones pick up those little sounds (i.e. someone taps the table).

Luca Bignardi did a good job. If you're new to these reviews, Luca is a Grammy winning sound engineer who tuned multiple 1More headphones (for a fully balanced and precise soundstage). If you want to hear something the way it was recorded... that's what proper tuning does (it doesn't compromise it).

Even with Luca on deck... it means nothing if the headphones don't have the right oomph to connect and deliver that quality sound.

The 1More Stylish True Wireless In-Ear Headphones has a Bluetooth chip with both aptX (Android) and AAC (iOS) for hi-res transmission technology + SBC (for those that need it).

These headphones have a titanium composite diaphragm with a 7mm dynamic driver for compact headphones. They get a low latency as a result of high speed signal transmission... so you can enjoy your visual content without it looking like an old school Kung Fu flick.

The LDS Antenna is what helps ensure a solid connection for music and calls by preventing less signal interference and transmission.

You get ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) technology... so that the person you're talking to can hear you in noisy places, and I can attest that it works for the most part. If i'm just surrounded by a slew of people talking loud, a phone call was not going to happen without a lot of "What was that?". When I'm not in a crowd of people, or i'm about 10 feet away... i'm able to complete my calls (even in a crowded convention center). I have no idea if it would go over well at a concert or not.

Sound quality in the phone calls were great for me + the caller... and I was wondering if it had something to do with the ear also helping the MEMS Microphone pick up my voice better. They share the same canals (the ear and mouth), so I was curious about that... since I have a deeper + lower tone of voice.

If you're wondering about the connection when it comes to distance away from the connected device, the sound quality was able to hold up well. I left my phone in the living room and made my way into my bedroom in the back area of my home without a break in the audio. I'm not sure of how many square feet away that is... but it remained connected. The wireless range is about 10meters.

The body of the 1More Stylish True Wireless Headphones is vacuum plated with a non-conductive vacuum metalizing (or NCVM) coating that won't conduct electricity. You may scratch your head and wonder what NCVM is... but its designed for things like these headphones and even cellphones so that electromagnetic signals are not interfered with. Check out a full breakdown here... if its something that fascinates you: https://www.model-solution.com/services/mock/ncvm

They feel sturdy, even though I wouldn't want to drop them from a great height. I have gone to sleep with them on... to enjoy the soothing sounds of ASMR and woke up to one laying on the hardwood floor in the morning (no cracks or anything). It still works... so you should be good with light accidental drops if they ever occur.

The multi-functional buttons feel good too, they aren't a loose click that can easily be pressed by mistake... but they're also placed in the right spot so that you can use your thumb and finger to make them do what they do.

The left button answers, hangs up, declines calls, and uses AI assistance like Google or Siri.

The right button plays, pauses, and switches to the next or previous track. I've used these buttons a lot and... they've worked without fail.

I figured these headphones would fit with the right ear tips, I just wasn't sure how well these would stay in my ears... but they actually stay. Recently I did some broadcasting work for a sports TV network and these arrived around that time... which gave me the opportunity to really test them day in and out. They did a stellar job and didn't fall out, no snags from a cord, but at the same time... there isn't a neck cord getting the occasional collar interference either so I really liked that. I was also able to use one at a time if I wanted... and if I were brave enough, someone else could use one while I use the other.

The right ear tips make all the difference, so make sure you have the right ones... because they don't annoy my ears (and my ears are sensitive). Before finding my ear tip size... I avoided in-ear headphones and even earbuds at all costs. I still have unused headphones laying around in boxes from the past.

The ear tips are made of silicon (along with the O-Hooks)... and the way they're angle gives it a good fit that's easy for me to use for a long period of time. An 8 hour day at the event only required 1 charge, and that charge was about 15 minutes for a full charge. It was quicker than that if I took them out to charge during breaks, but I think it took about 21 minutes for a full charge when they're completely dead. I can think of a few people with 30 minute lunch breaks who can benefit from that.

The 1More Stylish True Wireless In-Ear Headphones are priced at $99.99. This is a clean price, i'd value them at about $140 - $150... so $99 is a freaking steal. Apple fans are Apple fans, I have no beef with you guys and gals... but thei Airpods are $199 with the charging case, $159.99 with a charging case that you have to plug up in order to charge the Airpods, and $79.99 for the wireless charging case alone. That's $20 less than the 1More headphones along with its wireless charging case.

Overall, 1More aimed at quality... without going above and beyond on price. Money doesn't just magically appear in someone's pocket (if it does in yours, let me know where you bought your pants), so when the value is more than the price... I have to applaud that.

Other specs include:

True Wireless Bluetooth 5
Multiple pairing modes L & R switch over (you can use one or both and swap)
55 mAh for each Headphone Battery
410 mAh Case battery capacity
96h standby time for fully charged headphones
24h Totle battery life w/ charging case + headphones
You're able to fully charge your headphones 3 times between case charges
Gold-plated charging pin

1More iBFree Sport Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones (New Model)... Reviewed!

What better way to kick off the weekend than a product review?! When this product arrived, I looked forward to checking out the actual packaging too... because of the impressive boxes of the other 1More headphones at a slightly higher price tag. I didn't expect it to be as sweet as the packaging of the... 1More Quad Driver in-ear headphones and the Spearhead VR Gaming headphones, but I was curious regardless. That said... enjoy the unboxing:

Although the packaging isn't as memorable as the other packages, it's durable... which kept the headphones safe during shipping. The shipping box was a bit jacked up, so durable packaging is reassuring.

This is 1More's new model of the iBFree Sport Bluetooth In-Ear Headphones. One thing I've noticed when it comes to 1More in my short time of reviewing their headphones... is that they don't shy away from revising their products, I appreciate that... the package also includes 1 flat charging cable, 3 sports grips, and 3 ear tips.

The ear tips and sports grips are appreciated. They don't come in as many sizes as the Quad Driver headphones... but, I appreciate the fact that there is more than one size. I had to switch up the ear tips that were initially on the headphones (so I guess that makes it four ear tips) and put the small ear tips on. They fit okay, they rest partially in my ear... but I have yet to have them fall out, even turning over and also stretching after a massage. I'm pretty sure the sports grips have something to do with that.

The ear tips have yet to cause discomfort, and I've actually found myself wearing them hours on end and forgetting that they were in my ears because there isn't pressure from the ear tips being forced to fit in my ears (I don't even feel the sport grips). I enjoy my other Bluetooth headphones but considering the fact that these don't go around the backside of the ear at all... I prefer these. The other headphones aren't even heavy, they're Bluetooth and on-ear, which are great... but if I can wear a pair that I don't feel... I prefer no feeling. Noise isolation cuts out about 50% of the noise for me, but the better the fit... the greater isolation is (i.e. when I push the ear tips all the way into my ears w/ limited movement the sound isolation is up to about 75% or more). The reason I don't mind it not being higher than what i'd consider is about 50% sound isolation... is because if I'm outside, I still need to be able to hear other things for safe keeping.

These headphones are light, look clean and have a very functional design. The charging port has a rubber cover preventing any moisture from getting in, and with all the rain that's a plus. Speaking of rain, these enhanced sports edition headphones have increased water protection that I can actually vouch for. It seems like every time I get prepared to go outside its raining these days (for like the past week and a half)... which sucks, but for the sake of the review it worked out. These headphones are fine even though I've gotten drenched a few times, so... if you like to work up a sweat or... you get caught in the rain like me, you should be good to go with these headphones.

If you're curious about the water resistance on a scale... these headphones are an international standard IPX6.

IPX0... isn't water resistant at all. IPX1 - IPX2 can take some water droplets. IPX3 can actually take some spray, so if you want to spray and clean your headphones you can (although I'd recommend an alcohol wipe). IPX4 can take a splash of liquid. IPX5 can take on a big water gun. IPX6 can also take on a big water gun with more oomph + mud. IPX7 can take on about 3 feet of water, and IPX8 can take on 3+ feet of water. So I hope this gives you an idea of the water resistance.

The buttons are tough too... so if you are working out and you need a pair that doesn't have hair-trigger buttons, you're covered.

The buttons are tough, but... responsive. You have the basics seen here... the power button, volume up, volume down, and the multifuction for play/stop/answer and all that good stuff. They do what they're supposed to do. There is nothing really wow here, but it's nice and functional without being in the way... and that's fine by me, its part of an overall clean design.

The headphones have a durable aluminum alloy body and the angles align with the curve of the ear... which allow for a really nice fit. So even if they aren't deep within my ears... the sound is full (definitely a lot fuller than my on-ear headphones).

I've played mobile + pc games, listened to music, watched movies, and made phone calls... with a thumbs up thus far. The headphones have a Bluetooth chip with hi-res transmission technology, which is said to provide a meticulous listening experience without the sound quality being affected by it being wireless. That sounds cool, but my actual first-hand experience confirms that its true. You're working with Bluetooth 4.2 with AAC in the new model vs 4.1 aptX found in the old model.

Oh... and by the way (before I forget), these headphones connect to my phone quick. Some Bluetooth headphones do that crap where they take a while to connect, or they connect partially where its just phone audio (w/out media audio). So I noticed the quick connection of these headphones immediately... I like that a lot, I don't want to sit around and tinker in my Bluetooth settings to get sound also connected to the headphones. I just want to turn it on and... go, which I've been able to go for about half a day before charging these headphones (which takes about two hours). Standby is listed at about 90 days... which is pretty cool, but I haven't had enough time to review them to that extent in order to confirm it.

Last but not least, distance is about 35ft... so if you're on a basketball court, you should be good with a half-court game or a smaller full court with your phone at about half court. I was able to go a few rooms away without losing connection with my phone, but... when I stepped outside it disconnected.

Price wise at $59.99 I think they're on point, and with the quality... they're competitive. I'd go as far as to say better than some at the $89.99 price point (I'm not saying any names). As far as cons go, the only con I could come up with... are the buttons (a partial con). If I could change one thing, it would be the volume + skip buttons being the same, because some phones/apps don't let you skip at all.

Overall, these are some comfortable... durable Bluetooth headphones that deliver good sound at a price point that doesn't make a dent in the piggy bank.
