Remain Calm - A Really Good Horror... Short! + Horror Games worth considering!

This horror short was right on time for October, and it hit the way it was supposed to. 7 days over 4.65 million views, not because it was cheesy, but... because it was good, really good... and it captured enough to be well rounded.

Written and Directed by Jake Lewis, this story by Jake and Same Lewis starred two store clerks, the ever interesting Pauly Shore (Matt) and comedian Nick Swardson (Erwin). Rather than tell you what it's about... just check it out right now if horror is your thing:

Do you think you'd be able to survive such a situation?

I have a few things in the works myself, and Remain Calm gave me a reason to stand up and salute creativity. I'm not saying every horror is copy and paste, we have those standout legends that are celebrated or showcased at different horror conventions, Halloween Horror Nights, Howl-O-Scream, Halloween, and all that good stuff... annually. The originality is what stands out to me, and this has that. It may come off as some sort of low budget film of sorts until you realize it actually isn't. You have some sort of dry humor in there initially, and then you have the seemingly absurd tucked in when the agent (played by Doug Jones) shows up... looking like he could be the lead monster just seconds from morphing into it's true form. No offense.

The quality is there, and even if it's less than 15 minutes long, they delivered and left enough room for there to be a full fledged film. If this was to deliver a concept to be shopped around, they knocked it out of the park. Monstrosity escapes, looking like it belongs in Resident Evil... and it reacts to your stress? Good stuff, and it feels like they etched out their own lane. Now going back to whether I think I'd survive? Yep, because... as soon as he told me something escaped, I would've made my way to my car and got the hell outta there. The agents could swarm them place from there, the end.

I won't leave it at that, here are a list of horror games worth considering this October:

1. Resident Evil Requiem

Capcom delivers another nightmare, combining the terrifying survival experience of Grace Ashcroft with Leon S. Kennedy's action-packed encounters. If you enjoy creepy environments, disturbing enemies, and fighting to survive, this one deserves a look.

2. Silent Hill: Townfall

A mysterious island off the Scottish coast becomes the setting for a disturbing first-person psychological horror experience. Explore the fog-covered town of St. Amelia, uncover its secrets, and try to survive whatever is lurking out there.

3. Silent Hill f

Set in 1960s Japan, this chilling adventure follows Hinako as her hometown transforms into something horrifying. Between the disturbing creatures, unsettling atmosphere, and twisted mysteries, this is anything but a peaceful stroll through town.

4. Cronos: The New Dawn

Travel between a devastated future and the past in this brutal survival horror adventure. The creatures are dangerous enough individually, but allowing them to merge makes things even worse. Sometimes defeating an enemy isn't the end of the problem!

5. Still Wakes the Deep

Imagine being stranded on an offshore oil rig during a violent storm, only to discover something monstrous has come aboard. There's no arsenal of weapons to save you here. Your best chance is to hide, keep moving, and find a way to survive.

6. Mouthwashing

Five crew members are trapped aboard a wrecked space freighter with little hope of rescue. This deeply unsettling psychological horror experience explores desperation, guilt, and the terrifying things people can do when everything starts falling apart.

7. Alien: Isolation

Here's one that can still make your palms sweat! Play as Amanda Ripley while an unpredictable Xenomorph hunts you aboard a space station. Resources are limited, hiding isn't always safe, and making too much noise can be your final mistake.

8. Phasmophobia

Grab up to three friends and investigate haunted locations using paranormal equipment. Your job is to identify the ghosts, but that becomes a whole lot harder when they decide to hunt you instead. Suddenly, everybody has somewhere else to be!

9. Dead by Daylight

Four survivors attempt to escape while one player controls a relentless killer. With an assortment of terrifying characters and horror franchise crossovers, this multiplayer favorite offers plenty of reasons to watch your back this Halloween.

10. REANIMAL

From the creators of Little Nightmares comes a twisted horror adventure following a brother and sister searching for their missing friends. Explore a nightmarish island filled with disturbing creatures, either alone or alongside another player. Apparently, family bonding can get a whole lot scarier!

11. Slitterhead

Something sinister is hiding among the residents of Kowlong. Take control of a mysterious entity known as Hyoki, possess different human hosts, and hunt down terrifying creatures disguised as ordinary people. With brutal combat and enemies hiding in plain sight, trusting appearances could be your biggest mistake.

12. End of Abyss

Deep beneath the surface, a young combat technician named Cel investigates a mysterious underground facility crawling with grotesque creatures. This atmospheric, top-down sci-fi horror adventure combines exploration, twin-stick combat, and equipment upgrades. The further you descend, the more unsettling things become. And when you're surrounded by things that shouldn't exist, having a weapon certainly helps!

So, what's your flavor of horror? Whether you're going solo, investigating the paranormal with friends, or trying to outsmart something that wants you dead, there's plenty to keep your October interesting. Just remember, sometimes running away is the smartest move you can make!

FTS: 'Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy' Revealed at Future Games Show (PC, PS5, XSX, Switch 2)

STORMIND GAMES REVEALS REMOTHERED: RED NUN’S LEGACY FOR PC & CONSOLES

The long-awaited conclusion to the cult-hit survival horror trilogy is coming later this year

CATANIA, Italy — March 12, 2026 — Today at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase, award-winning video game developer and publisher Stormind Games announced Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy, the third installment in the Remothered survival horror franchise. Coming later this year to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam, EGS & GOG), the game will deliver a grand finale to the story of the first two Remothered titles while introducing a refreshed vision with thrilling gameplay, storytelling and cinematics.

“Remothered was the first game we developed at the very beginning of our journey, and after our experiences with A Quiet Place and Mafia: The Old Country, we returned to the series because we couldn’t accept seeing Remothered fade away,” said Stormind CEO Antonio Cannata. “We decided to make this game out of a strong sense of respect and responsibility toward Remothered and its community, who thought this project had been abandoned.”

“Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy will dig deep into the story and present new special skills that expand the gameplay pillars of Remothered,” said Game Director Antonio Cutrona. “While the game is a standalone experience that fans of old-school horror can dive right into and enjoy without playing the first two games in the series, it will offer the conclusion that long-time fans have been waiting years to play.”

The team at Stormind has also released the first in a series of three developer diaries celebrating the return of Remothered. In today’s new video, CEO Antonio Cannata and Game Director Antonio Cutrona talk about the feelings that motivated the studio to take up the project. They also discuss how the team is focusing on the franchise’s roots to bring a sense of closure to long-time fans, expanding on its established gameplay, story and challenges while throwing in some surprises for players new and old to discover.

In Red Nun’s Legacy, players will enter a world where nothing is quite as it seems. Exploring a convent, you’ll need to use your wits to overcome disturbing revelations, secrets, and a twisted reality to learn the truth behind the Red Nun—all while surviving the relentless Stalkers preying upon you.

Named one of the scariest games of all time, the original Remothered: Tormented Fathers hooked fans with its twisting narrative and tense survival horror atmosphere when it debuted in 2018. Stormind Games has a strong pedigree for creating stand-out horror titles, including developing the first two installments in the Remothered franchise, developing 2024’s A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead from publisher Saber Interactive, and working with Behaviour Interactive. In 2025, the team co-developed Mafia: The Old Country with Hangar 13, bringing an immersive authenticity and cinematic atmosphere to its story.
